Tyson has a point that he running off reputation at one point. He's so feared that guys would just give up after a few rounds. Doesn't help he fought a lot of tomato cans in his career.

Mike was the shit!!

He was an animal. Regardless of what many thing, he was a very gifted athlete who really hurt guys in the ring.

But you d have all whipped him IN DA CAGE!!!! ::)

In his prime, Tyson would have killed anyone in that ring..
Problem is, Tyson is an animal that needed to be properly handled by the right trainer in order to operate at his best.
Cus D'Amato was the only man that knew how to keep that beast both tamed and tempered. He also knew what it took to unleash Tyson's fury in the ring. Unfortunately, after his death, Tyson lost direction and never retained that fierce killer instinct that made him the fighter he was. He lost direction, had the wrong manager on board and ended up losing to guys like Hollyfield who had more self-control, not to mention a strong skillset.
Look at the similarity between Cus D'Amato and Mickey from the Rocky movies (listen to his words - They say the exact same thing regarding the will to stay alive):
Sometimes all it takes is for the right father-figure to drive a man to accomplish amazing things. I think Cus was Tyson's Mickey.

he grew up fatherless until he found Gus... since Gus' death I don't think Tyson figured out who he was until about 4 years ago

Agreed.
If not for Cus, Tyson would have simply been a rabid dog, possibly robbing or mugging people in the streets of Brooklyn.
It's sad that Gus died before Tyson was capable of fully maturing.
