Could be pre recorded but I think it was CGI done right there on the spot via green screen because i don't think they can open the envelopes before hand

I remember watching Terminator 2 when it was first released and thinking "how did they do that?"

Same for R2D2.

But I can hand on heart say, that as much as I enjoyed Ted the first 2 times I watched it - I never paid a thought to how they did it.

In fact, just like you say, I couldn't give a fuck.
