How do you follow football, when a large number of the big name players, may only see a few hours of action in their entire career?
I'm not sure I understand the name of each position, but there's only a few minutes of actual play each game. There are only a few games a year, and many guys only play a few seasons.
-
they practice way harder/longer than they play.

I get that, my point is how do you actually follow the sport.
Do you sit down and watch practices?
-
a real contact sport, and they play for 80 mins flat out.

Yeah I love watching rugby, it's such a better set up.

Watch one game a week for sixteen weeks and hope your team makes the playoffs.
-
The biggest, strongest, and baddest athletes in the world participate in this sport. Plays only last a short while because it is a game of analysis and "strategery", not to mention that constant breaks allows the athletes on the field to maximize their speed and intensity(for the most part) throughout the entirety of the game.

How does one go about "picking a team"? Do you evaluate the men that you prefer and then make a determination? What is the criteria based upon?

The constant pauses are for commercials and for the networks to sell things to morons. Don`t be stupid. Its a "sport" tailored specifically for advertising, nothing else.

I'm aware of that, too. I'll watch a few games a year, primarily college football. Its a guilty pleasure sometimes......I guess my lack of discipline makes some others sick!

it's pretty easy. at 1 o'clock on a Sunday I turn on CBS.
There is a football game on. I watch it.
way to overthink something that is beyond simple. what's your next question...."how do you guys remember where you parked your car when you go to the mall?"
Yeah I know Adonis....."I never go to the mall"....congratulations... ;D

You can choose to root for any team by any criteria you choose. If "man evaluation" is your thing, have at it.

Maybe RAtard doesn't understand the rules, there are quite a few of them.

Your acting like this is a totally obscure question.
Compared to any other major sport it's completely true.
If your a nfl fan your essentially a fan for 18 days a year, any other sport your talking about 6-8 months of the year

football is played 6 months out of the year, 7 if you count pre-season.
there are games on 3 nights a week..Thursday, Sunday and Monday...with the occasional Saturday game.
Let's all watch retard digest these indisputable facts and see what idiocy he spews out of his broken brain next, trying to "win" the argument.

I said NFL games numb nuts. Right after you said you tune in on sundays.

I said NFL games numb nuts.
Uh, that's the NFL's schedule...Numbnuts.
Thursday night- NFL network game of the week
Sunday, three games .....early, afternoon and late game
Monday night football on ESPN
so it's actually 5 games a week...LOLOL
maybe you shouldn't talk about things you have zero knowledge of, this way you won't look like such an idiot.
-
Wanna know the biggest reason why people follow NFL, stats, look for what happened in practice?
Gambling.
Weekly pools, Props games, Fantasy Leagues, and Game Betting.
I parlay multiple tickets every week, as well as Props games. Right now my weekends are really boring with nothing to gamble on.

Lol it was a serious question, I never followed the sport and I haven't had tv for seven years. It was only during the playoffs that I even started watching it.

How did YOU choose?

How did YOU choose?
I grew up watching them, since they were the local team, and became a fan.

doesn't this apply to any team sport?
but seriously, usually favorite teams are dependent on the area(s) you grew up or currently live. Or from a player that you like. For example I use to be a 49ers fan because of Joe Montana and Ronnie Lott.
Now I like the Red Skins and Patriots.

Because unlike twinks like you, I played sports when I was little. I chose players and teams I wanted to emulate on the field, and became a Ravens fan ever since.
Seriously, have you ever once played an organized sport in your life? You seem so bitter towards it, which one can only think you were the terd in class who was picked last for gym class.

Lets see I ran track, Cross-Country, and swam in competition for eight years.

And Unlike you, I was actually athletic and not a blubber turd who is now reliant on steroids and will be for life.
