After having my own swimming pool and educating myself on water chemistry to maintain it, would never go in a public pool again.

After having several and educating myself on the cost/benefits I have concluded they are a horrendous waste of money. Other peoples pools are the way to roll. They are the quintessential money pit

I don't think they are an investment. I think the return on investment is 15 to 25% when selling but you reduce the potential buyers pool as some people just don't want a pool due to small children or fear of maintenance. When I built mine in 2008 it was a quality of life issue. I have had pools in the past and knew I would use it quite often. And in central Texas a pool is certainly nice to have for 7 months out of the year.

I don't know if anyone else is with me on this but I have a phobia of band-aids floating in swimming pools. For that reason I haven't been swimming for many years.

I was at my local swimming baths one time in the 80s when someone decided to take a dump in the pool. I think that was the last time I set foot in a public swimming baths as I'm not a lover of scat!

The moment a man first spots a turd meandering its way toward him in a public pool, realizing he's been awash in its essence, is the moment he comes to realize that we are indeed half-evolved apes (if he is of sound mind).

Swimming pools are fucking disgusting.  Get in big tub of water with a bunch of people sweating, peeing, farting into it.  All fo their nastry dirt and diseases floating in it.

I guess you're a fan of lakes where smelly bears take dumps in it and wash their muddy paws. Where dirt sediment flows and slimy fish die. The ocean is full of bacteria. A dead whale rotting whale just washed up by me and he smelled worse than my dog's butt. Not that I smell my dog's butt. The point I'm making is a properly maintained pool is clean. Just for the record I swim in the ocean and lakes.
