It doesn't suck. And it's only loaded with malware if you download ridiculous apps like fart noise generators and horoscope apps.

Same thing goes for computers. I can run the shittiest Windows PC with no protection without picking up any malware. I'll spank it to 30 different porn sites too with no problems at all. It all boils down to the end user, who's usually dumb as absolute fuck and barely knows how to check their shitty email and Facebook.

Linux and Android is very open and flexible, the users have all the power, you have to rely more on your own abilities. Windows is in between, and Mac is pure communism.

Android is for adults, people with tech skills, when ever something is this flexible, it can't be idiot proofed.

iOS is for business professionals that don't mind spending a little more to get a product that is safer, has a smooth GUI, ZErO malware, no to very little fragmentation, better ecosystem, and has real and free media Mangement.  ;)

lol iOS is the Fisher Price of mobile operating systems. Android is open source, iOS is closed. There are a lot of polished apps for iOS because of that fact, but if you really want flexibility then you'll want an open sourced ecosystem.

You know how hard it is to get malware on your Android!!!  Just use common sense!  Gone through a number of Android devices and I have never had any issues.

In all seriousness, what the hell do you all do with your phones that having Android's openness is so important??

I use my phone for text, calls, internet, email, GPS and about 15 different apps regularly.

bullshit you need some crappy 3rd party work around app to get media onto your phone with anything but itunes.

Root access.

Want to edit the host file to disable ads? You need root access.

Want to delete the camera shutter sound so you can take stealth upskirt shots? You need root access. ;D

Root access allows you to change system level shit more or less. If you edit a ROM or kernel you'll need root access (or more) and then you can customize the hell out of your phone. You can overclock it, underclock it, replace system sounds, remove or replace system apps, rewrite the operating system ranging from changing the DPI/size of apps to completely overhauling things until it's almost unrecognizable!

Oh, and because of things like the Android Open Source Project, you can have a vanilla Android experience, or use a fork called Cyanogenmod for instance, which takes all the vanilla stuff, trims it down and replaces some things with better apps, optimizes the code, replaces kernel code and commands with lighter, more powerful and customizable code and because of GNU licensing agreements it's all open sourced! I can download the best ROM, tweak that shit, recompile it and flash it!

So that's why guys like me cream their pants over this stuff. With iOS you only have one option, download an app and wish for the best. Developers for Android listen to community feedback for fixing bugs, optimizing their apps and changing them, implementing new futures, etc. That's also why I love Android. It's awesome stuff if you're a nerd. Apple products are for dodos, but it admittedly gets the job done if you don't have higher demands like power users.

Funny thing.  I can simply drag and drop a video on my Galaxy S3.  I then can use my WD TV Media live hub to access the video and play on my TV.  Wow...so simple.

Contrast that with :

I downloaded a movie for a friend so he can watch it on his "Apple TV" and the whole thing was a pain in the ass to just get it on the phone.  You can marry only one ipod to an itunes.  Right?  I can plug in any number of android phones to my computer.  iCloud is not compatible with Windows XP.  You have to hack the shit out of things and pray it works.  Thats real efficient and easy.   ::)

Well this statement shows you just haven't used an iphone... I've used them all.

To start, I have 3 phones synced to my iTunes... Mine. The Woman's. The son's. Plus about 5 different iPods.

Personally I like my iphone the best. I too jailbreak it so I can do whatever I want with it, but just out of the box, the iPhone is the easiest to deal with.

I have had numerous Android devices and while they are good, they are not as easy to deal with as the iOS devices. They, for some reason, are not as stable, which I expect is because of the number of devices they are working to be compatible for.

I will stick with my iPhone... I've switched away, and just always switch back.

Just recently I had a conversation with one of my best friends and she has an Android device... She's switching back to her iPhone within the next 2 weeks.

Oddly enough, one of the things I like about the iPhone is the form factor. The Android phones are just bigger and bigger typically (Yes, I know they make a small one here and there, but it's never as good as the huge ones), but the iPhone size is just perfect for shoving into my back pocket.

The friend I just mentioned above... Her phone is the size of her HEAD!

Oh... and the malware issues aren't the phones anyway... It's the store.

Apple has extremely stringent testing on EVERY app that gets into the store... Even updates. Android Play allows anyone to put anything on there... No checks at all basically.

I don't care if people like iOS more than Android, as long as they don't stay it's better. It's not better... at all.

Neither is "better"... As my previous post relays... There are definitely some pluses to to iOS.

That said, Double Twist is fantastic and a great music player.

I also have my phone mapped as a network drive so I can access certain parts on it from any computer in my house.  Lastly, I can also play my movies that are on my WD on my phone (did a couple of times, but the damn screen is so small).

Don't forget about Miracast. That'll be awesome once used more.

I stream shit from home to my phone or tablet using BubbleUPnP or Plex, shit to my TV at home (just put in Ethernet jacks myself, or use WiFi and Samsung AllShare), to my BluRay player, etc. I download movies using uTorrent to my HTPC or VPN and find something on IPtorrents, etc. So many easy and endless possibilities.

I personally use PLEX...  the interface is just freaking amazing!  Got almost 200 movies on my pc hard drive at home. and can stream to my phone, pc, tabet, HTPC, and web from anywhere in the world!

Perhaps you may want to read the posts above.  Android more than satisfies 'managing' contacts, music, documents, video, etc, etc.

Again, taken from the most simplistic approach....I can literally take a file....virtually ANY file...and simply drag it onto my phone and then do with it what I want.  No use of software, nothing.  You can not do that with an iphone.  You have to go through a piece of software in order to do that.  Yes....or no?

They usually need paid software too.

Android has so many freeware media playing and managing programs with amazing community/developer support, which I love. If I have an app that I want to suggest a feature for, the developer will likely implement it if I send him a reasonable request that would be advantageous and realistic. And if there's a bug, I just send a log file and they'll check into it. I never saw that happen with any Apple developers, but I could be mistaken. It's part of the Android culture though and anyone I've ever emailed will always email back. It's absolutely amazing.

Another nice thing is that Android will natively play a ton of different video formats. You don't need some obscure app or anything. There are different players though, and they can do things even better. Big Ach knows where it's at. He uses Plex which supports HLS and works amazing. I didn't actually expect it to work so well, but I paid for the full app because I was more than pleased. I just download some shit on my computer, boot it up on my phone/tablet and play it. Simple as fuck.
