He does. This is a weightlifter, not a powerlifter. There's no point of doing a half squat/half good-morning form as he keeps his form as close as possible to a front squat. He was a beast, just fucked up beautifully at the Olympics. Here's a front squat by a weightlifter:

slav build genetics. Look at how long his legs are compared to the rest of his body. Long legs + short core = easier to stabilize when squatting deep and heavy.

that's the same way I squat as well, not with that weight of course, but can't you guys see that he goes down verticaly but puts his ass out at the end? Thats the right way to powersquat, you don't "lean" forward.
I have a feeling the majority of you have to learn top use less weight and better form

Depends on flexibility if a person isn't too flexible a board or maybe 10 pound plates under the heels about 1 inch or so helps with keeping the back straight. Some people I train are fine without anything on squats some have to have the heels raised a bit.

I won't argue about the fact that it's the right way to squat but it's definitely not the way powerlifters squat.

His knees buckle inwards quite a few inches coming out of the hole. He can move some weight but I can't see how his knees can survive that much stress for long.

I believe I have seen a lot of similar squats by powerlifters, maybe not as extreme straight, but pretty much, i think Wendler had a good how to squat properly video, I try to find it.

Well, most guys I've seen this last ten years, Bolton, Donnie Thompson, Rantanen, all of them use a large grip, feet wide apart (almost a sumo squat position) and are doing something closer to a good morning than a proper squat to me.

A better question is how do the big falcon keep his back straight.
You got any advice for the tall folk trying to keep good posture?

normally in squatting in general (no weight / overhead / front / back...)
you can either
have the hips reall low and the back really straight
or
have the torso really forward and the hips higher
but what about shins moving forward
how is it all related

hes a world class olympic lifter, which means he has to have perfect proportions to be able to squat like that. To put it in perspective the chinese olympic team measure every lifters limb length to a matter of millimeters and send home the ones who don't have ideal leverage.. its not a realistic model for regular people squatting
look at how he bounces out of the bottom then his knees move in and out, that's how he maintains back angle through the hardest part of the lift - that would fuck up your hips and knees if you did it on a regular basis even worse than Layne Norton style backlifting

Same mystery as why every single body is unique. Compound movements will stress bio-mechanical differences if you see say, ten different people doing the same exercise "correctly". That's why very few people for example can perform a full ROM squatting on a smith machine (which I don't recommend- I'm talking about a classic squat performed on a smith and not a hack squat most perform on a smith).

I think so but between the amount of juice these guys are on, probably the painkillers, etc....I guess I'd feel my lower back snap in a second but hey, to each his own. I doubt that such a way of squatting is meant to produce an "improvement" for your body.

remember that weightlifting is a sport for young people
that's why they still have a lot of resilience in their bodies and can get away with all the balistic shit they do with 200-300 kilos every single day
also a lot of juice, massage, enough rest etc and of course GENETICS
