There are guys on youtube who are funny as hell with hundreds of videos that wouldn't be doing it without some sort of incentive. My good friend has a big channel with motorcycles. Hes got like 100,000 subscribers. He uses the money he gets from advertising to buy better cameras, go to better places..etc.. so he can make more videos people love to watch.

A 5 second add is not a big issue if you consider what you could be missing.

For every guy making a good vid, there are 5000 jason genova's making video's about his diet routine.

Ugh, I hate Dailymotion. If you think the advertising on YouTube is bad, Dailymotion is much worse. The constant 15 to 30 second commercials on nearly every video make it nearly impossible to browse videos.
