* Detective Washington Mosquera, 37, hit a stopped FDNY ambulance at Jamaica Ave. and Highland Blvd. in East New York, Brooklyn, about 1:30 a.m. Monday, police sources said. Nobody was injured in the fender-bender. Mosquera was charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test.
* On Sunday, Officer Joseph King, 28, was arrested after allegedly crashing his 2006 Acura into a parked vehicle on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway near 49th St. in Astoria, Queens, about 4:25 a.m. Two women in the other vehicle were hospitalized for pain to their neck, back and legs. King, who prosecutors say had an open bottle of Bacardi rum in his car, was arraigned on charges of driving drunk and leaving the scene of an accident. He was freed on $2,500 bail.
* Also on Sunday, Officer Dennis Munge, 32, crashed his 2011 Toyota into a traffic median and several parked vehicles on Northern Blvd. and 93rd St. in Jackson Heights, Queens, about 4:45 a.m., prosecutors said. He was arraigned Sunday on a drunken driving charge and released without bail.

A local cop here did that, and lost his job.

FUCKEN armatures. Drinking and driving 101, get into an accident and bolt. Lay low for 24 hrs and turn yourself in. You'llbe charged with leaving the scene, claim you had a blackout. and you wont catchm an impaired charge. Better yet get a lawyer to turn you in. You will walk.

The Late Senator Ted Kennedy did just that after getting drunk, driving his car off a bridge and leaving the young female passenger to drown. What a guy! Swam to safety, hid at his lawyers house and waited until he was sober.
A true hero.

Don't you sound like a whiner... No one says it NEVER happens. Absolutes are ridiculous, but cops sure let cops off the hook more than they let regular people.
I remember back when I was a cop (It was a long time ago and it was a special police thing... No matter) I had some dudes I worked with... 1 had left and started working for a local jurisdiction and he, his roommate, and myself had all gone out drinking... We hit a DUI checkpoint and his roommate was driving.
The cops looked at the passengers seat, and said, "He's one of ours." and they just let us move right along... So don't sit here and say that it's equal. You know damn well it's not.

It isn't equal.
Here in New York City all a criminal needs to do is wave one of those PBA (Patrolmen's Benevolent Association) cards in front of the cop's face and they will simply look the other way.
The perks are even better if you have a Captain's PBA card.
