Well I of course am not a IfBb Pro but I ran Portland marathon Holding alot of muscle. Of course I did not win-lol. But my time was good especially since I did not train as hard as I needed to. I started out way to quick! after mile 3 I was at a little over 18 minutes. My 13.1 mile mark(half-way) was 1 hour and 33 minutes. After 18 miles i went from a 7 minute mile pace to a 10 minute a mile pace. I give much props to anybody who has run a timed state marathon. Running a Marathon takes alot of heart.

There are way more problems then just breathing and heart rate.

1. to heavy per height ratio, this would cause severe joint pain after the 20k mark

2. way to much muscle, again the more muscle the more prone to soreness and lactic acid.

3. Dehydration, even if they drink consistently throughout the race their electrolytes in their large muscle groups would be depleted in no time due to too much muscles.

4. Glycogen depletion as well, all that muscle will use up the stores so fast and soreness will creep in, they would not be able to walk towards the end.

and of course there conditioning in terms of lungs, however I think this is the least of their worries.

So I suppose it's possible (would take a miracle) but not probable and extremely unlikely unless they dropped 50lb of muscle first.

Muscle cells change or mutate from anaerobic to aerobic acording to needs. Off course this takes a lot of months if not years of consistent target stimuli.
So no, i am pretty sure that a modern pro won't be able to complete a marathon. Maybe Johnny Fuller did but he was 220lbs.

Pros get up at 4:30am, drive to gym in order to walk on treadmill at 3mph. I think a marathon would be possible.

The question is in a relatively decent time so the above actually proves it can not be done cause this guy took over 9 hours.

They would fail miserable. I just picked up running after a 6 month shrink cycle from quitting bodybuilding. I ran 3 miles and got a contusion in my foot. Even after losing 40 lbs of mass my body could handle it. It would take 6-12 months of training as stated earlier.

I think a better question is there any Olympia contestant that can run one 8 minute mile?

Completing a marathon isn't the same as running a marathon. Any fatso can do a 5 hour marathon. You have to be in serious shape to run a sub 3 hour marathon.
