Title: Any Knife Collectors?
Post by: El Diablo Blanco on April 10, 2013, 10:49:36 AM
Anyone like collecting knives?

I am a big fan of Microtech knives. Have a decent collection going.  Not cheap though.  I always liked knives better than guns.  I have the following in my collection:

H.A.L.O. V

Jagdkommando

Scarab

Ultratech

All sorts of other throwing knives, hunting knives etc...

That is one bad ass collection. I just have some old ones my dad gave me 30 years ago. Just pulling one of those out would make someone piss their pants.

Why is it sick?  They are mechanical marvels.  The fact an OTF knife can lock into place solid and not retract is amazing.

Were you in the movie Hostel by chance?   ;D

Hmmm.  Not me.  I always liked knives though.  I like collecting them.  I don't walk around with them on my hip.  I do have a couple concealed in my car just in case though.

Someone cuts you off, all you have to do is wave that Jagdkommando and you will hear screeching tires going the opposite way. How much does that one run?

Answered my own question. This model has a cushioned handle to soak up blood spills. $1499.00.

Microtechs I have range from $300-$800, but they go up to the thousands if you have the money.  The Jag was $699.  I get them from a place in Arizona.  Cali is a bitch about OTF knives.

I don't keep the Jag in my car, lol.  Only the quick release ones.

For real?  A friend of mine collects swords.  He likes the Ye Olde British Empire kind, not Samurai or shit.  He has them hanging point down on the walls in his house.  He had one pointing down above his front door. Always scared me to walk in.  he would laugh about it until one day he came home to find it on the floor.  It was too heavy and pulled the hanger out of the wall and fell while he was out.  That was enough to scare him and not put it above the door again.

its actually a really good copy of the sword cost me under $100, looks and feels just like the real thing, only its weak metal its not meant for sword fighting, if you wanted a sword fighting one i think Marto makes one for like a $1000 to fight with.

i just display it in a shadowbox , everyone that comes over wants to hold it or take a pic with it

I've carried a hand gun for 30 years yet I'm very interested in swords. You have to be bad ass back in the day to fight with a sword. I saw a demonstration with a side of beef. First a guy shoots it with a double O buck shot 12 gauge. 12 holes, impressive, all the way through. Then he takes a sword and in one slice cuts the side of beef in half. Can you imagine the devastation in sword fights back in the day?

Most swords sold are junk made for decorations. There are some companies that make real swords. The problem with a razor sharp sword is that they are really dangerous to handle. Start swinging one around defending your self and there's a good chance of giving your self a fatal slice.

No but I dabbled in foil.  Lot of fun.  In b4 outed.  The sabre fencers were pretty badass.

as i'm looking at this pic the same sword is setting right next to me. i have some knives and swords and bayonets nothing wrong with that. my cousins husband is a collector with a really big wall-mounted collection. i was looking at it and in another room i remarked that i had the same knife on me as he had in his collection when i showed him . he ran in the other room to check that i didn't pilfer his knife.

I like heading into nearby agricultural land, cutting some cactuses to chew and flinging my SOG tomahawk into hapless villagers trees. It's a cheap tool that has a fair amount of practicality and affords some enjoyable experiences.

I'm a benchmade guy...have two that I really like.

My all time favorite knife is my kershaw leek though.  It's cheap enough to use and abuse but feels like a knife that costs 2-3x more--and I love the shape of the blade.  You can use the blunt end as a flat-head screwdriver, the tip is dagger point, and the blade can be leather stropped like a straight-edge.
It's just about the perfect EDC.  I couldn't begin to guess how many packages or kid's birthday presents I opened with that...or how many electrical wires I stripped, loose strings I cut, etc.

I go through a "knife nut" phase every few years where I buy a few nice knives.  Don't really even know why; cheaper than buying nice watches like Big Achoo I guess

My mother told me not to run with scissors and these guys are running with swords and knifes.

Truth be told most people in real life stress and a moving target will miss at 5 yards with a hand gun. When I go to a range I can't believe the amount of misses at 15 yards with a stationary paper target I see by hand gun fans. With stress most do not look at their sights but at the threat to their life. A person with a knife at 21 feet does have an advantage many times against a man with a holstered gun. A young athletic man can close the gap before a guy can get off shot on target.

Just pistol whip the guy then.  He'll slice you, but you'll knock him out...then you can shoot him at your leisure.

Problem solved

I'm quite the connoisseur of Katanas and various ninja weaponry. I can also answer any questions about the size and shape of the genitals of monkeys. I spoke in great lengths about this on my last gimmick account.

PS OneMoreRep can suck it!
