Title: my new chest and biceps workout
Post by: NoCalBbEr on December 18, 2005, 07:25:45 PM
what do you guys think about my new chest and biceps rintine. as if late, I've been doing more volume then normal.

chest
bench press 3x6-8
incleine press 3x6-8
flat db presses 3x6-8
flys 3x-8

I've left the dips behind bc its a workout to load the weight i need on my belt.

this is a new bicep routine, but its mostly the same kind that i've used in the pass..

bb curls 3x6-8
db curl 3x9-8
preacher  curl with EZ bar 3x6-8
hammer curls 3x6-8 (i love these)

as you see i mostly do three sets. when i was doing 4 sets and 3 exerize, i couldnt do the fourth set bc of how heavy it was. so what do you guys think?? is going 15-12 sets  too many sets??

u would probably want to vary the rep ranges a little more, with an emphasis on a particular one. I would say 6-8 is good emphasis range..and mix that up with 3-5 and 8-12

If you make sure even the last reps of the set are done with fairly "good" speed, and execution, then you will be able to get even the last set in.

6-8 is just a baseline. if  i have more reps in me. i would do them but i dont pass 10 reps per set.

For me that would be overtraining.  For arms definitly overtraining.  I would also hit failure at 10-12 reps.  I would alternate DBPress and BPress every other week, or just stick to one.

You just gotta get in touch with yourself bro, you have to be able to realize when you have gotten everything out that you can of your muscles and any more sets will be useless.   After failing for 12 sets, I usually don't have anything left for any more sets.
