Trying to start a scene by legally carrying a legal firearm while walking with his young son in rural Texas?

Dude wasn't threatening anyone or breaking any laws.  Some chickenshit saw him, pissed his pants, and then called the pigs to harass him.  He wasn't walking through the mall with an AR15 locked and loaded.  The rifle was clipped to his kit, pointing at the grass.  The dude was just walking.  Why have laws if we don't enforce them properly?

Those police officers should be fired, and lose their pensions.

Temple, TX Cops Illegally Arrest Active Duty Soldier

Active duty soldier (veteran of the Iraq and Afganistan wars) and Concealed Handgun Licence holder Christopher J. Grisham was unlawfully disarmed and arrested on March 16 while hiking with his son, who was earning his Eagle Scout rank. Now Temple, AZ police have a lawsuit on their hands. Grisham has begun to raise money for his court case and his fellow gun rights-advocating Americans are not letting him down!

After two days of fundraising for his court case, he reached double his fundraising goal. Read about his fundraising campaign here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/2nd-amendment-legal-defense-fund. This is a prime example of illegal search and seizure by over-zealous police. This is CHL holding active duty soldier walking with his son. He wasn’t menacing. The police needlessly handcuffed and disarmed this man. I’m all for police protecting themselves, but I hope every cop in America is watching this and notes that Americans are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY and will not have their guns taken away. As Grisham says on his blog,

No one should have to fear being illegally disarmed without warrant, especially someone who has never committed a crime in his life.

Problem here is we didn't see what occured before the camera began.

Did the cop respectfully request he lay is firearm down and ask for ID?

Or did he just haul off and try to cuff the guy?

I actually know CJ. He's had some issues in the past and is legitimately suffering from PTSD. He's a good man

But you saw it from the time he was pinned to the car and the agitation was well under way.

Kind of a poor assumption.

I was referring to the  pass a Certain poster will give him.

But unfortunatly that other side hasn't done much to change people's perception.

At about the 5 mile mark of our hike, a voice behind us asked us to stop and the officer motioned for us to approach him. He got out of his car and met us a few feet later. He asked us what we were doing and I explained that we were hiking for my son's merit badge. He then asked me what I'm doing with the rifle, to which I responded in a calm manner, "Does it matter, officer? Am I breaking the law?"

he said he brings the rifle because of coyotes and wild hogs, why didn't he just tell the cop that.that's why i say he was looking for confrontation, and he got it

That's not the point.  If he's not breaking the law it's none of the cops fucking business what he's doing with the rifle.  It's legal to carry and he wasn't presenting it in a threatening manner.  If the guy was black and carrying a bolt action rifle instead of an AR-15 we would be having a completely different discussion.

Kind of hard to actually get the gist of it through writing.  Need to see voice inflection tempo etc.   besides that's wasn't the whole exchange from the point of initial contact to the start of the video.

Again, not a complete picture!

I am not sure abut this.  Is it with I'm the cops "job" to investigate?

The problem with this vid as I have been saying is we don't know transpired from the point of contact to when the video started.

That's a popular cnspiracy theory and absolute fact!  Don't make me cut and paste 3,126 articles and 439 you tube vids to prove it.

Why make it legal to carry a weapon if carrying that legal weapon constitutes probable cause for police to "investigate" you?  If he was pointing it at people that's one thing.  Dude was minding his business walking and he had his son with him.  He did answer the cop when he was questioned.  He told him that he was hiking with his son.  It's none of the cops business why he had the rifle.  It's legal to carry it.

I agree, but i donno if it does "constitute" investigation as i am not a cop nor know the laws.  It would be good if we had an actual cop to comment on this.

It's possible that he didn't turn on the camera until the point at which the clip begins. We may be seeing all of the existing footage.

could be,he said he remembered he had a camera on me (he said one of the requirements of the hiking merit badge is to document your hikes) i guess he just started documenting the hike when the cop came  ::)

So in order to document your hike you have to record the hike in it's entirety?

It's anyone's guess, but I doubt that participants in this hike have their cameras running nonstop from start to finish. I would expect they are more likely to record key parts of the expedition; specific locations or activities, etc.

of course not.  but in the absence of video showing the initial encounter to the point of pinning him on the car how can we really determine who is at fault?

Police have every right to follow up on a complaint or concern and he wasn't cooperating.  But the truth is that he was wanting that confrontation to happen....marching around with an AR-15 assault rifle.  He got what he wanted so fuck him.

If it was a black guy or Arab walking around with the same weapon, he would have been shot and no one would have said anything else other than he deserved it

True, ...but do you think the way to uphold the Black guy's or the Arab's guy's rights is to deny the white guy his?

Hmmm... you may be onto something  :-\

Doubt it, there are many laws police are exempt from. Not all, but many in order to do their jobs.

There is a law on the books of carrying a weapon in public that causes alarm. Officers were dispatched to the call and were within their rights to have him put down the weapon as they investigated. Had he complied, likely he'd be on his way in a few minutes. He wanted this more than 24K wants you to invest in her gold scam.
