somehow my pelvis always seemed tilted to one side causing the spine to bend to even it out?
???

Oh for pete's sake. :(

you are the worst thread starter in history

If your goal is to sound like a pathetic, ignorant, dumb fuck you have succeeded 100%. Your kid is going to be born with more sense than you have right now. Please do one of 2 things, leave or die. I could care less which you choose.

It's doubtful you actually have a true anatomical short leg. Jus from your pic you can see you are globally listing to the left. SCM is more prominent on the right, probably compensating for some head translation/rotation.
Its 99% Likely your pelvis has rotated posterior/inferior and anterior/superior to compensate for your fkd up spine, which will produce an observational short leg, when in fact both legs are most likely the same length. Look up a chiropractor with a GOOD reputation in your area. Hit me up if you need info on finding one.

Yes you are correct. Now go back to counting the hairs you have left, or measure your legs or whatever else you are obsessed with.

sure
why do you make that sound like bad things

I didn't expect you to.
Just do as I say bro, you will thank me later. Also, start deadlifting ASAP, your lower back is nonexistent. Healthy pelvis' need a strong low back.

lower back is nonexistant?????
WTF?! the things people see never cease to amaze me... not doubting your expertise chiro, but i don't know how you can come to this conclusion

wouldnt posting a picture of your legs be a better idea then your upper body considering the thread title? lol

i actually stopped deadlifting around may because i figured maybe my back is not straight
i could deadlift 200kg for 5 reps with complete inertion of the barbell on the floor each rep
with straps tho
(completely naturalol)

Nonexistent = a bit harsh obviously, but his erectors shrink as they meet his pelvis. Classic sign with Bodybuilders that they aren't deadlifting (at all, enough, or properly.)
AnalbolicH your look good man, I'm impressed.

Straps are fine man. But don't stop, it's so important. I would see so many fewer (future) patients if EVERYONE (not just my athletic patients) was doing some form of light deads and squats. Just be good with your form bro and train smart.

well i was really proud that day
even tho hossein rezazadeh has been filmed power cleaning 220kg
you gotta enjoy the little moments where you feel good about something
-
it's like when i feel like i'm standing straight
i'm actually leaning on my left leg somehow
i used to need a mirror to do a back double bicep without completely bending my spine in some fucked way
now i still need it i guess but it wont be as bad as before if i try the pose without mirror in front to checkout the straightness of the torso

i thought that was just because the fibers stop at that point, and the rest is tendon:
even the biggest erectors shrink down to tiny tendons as they get down to the pelvis.

dorian yates says deadlifts are completely useless for a bb
and he also hates squats

if you watch blood and guts, his "rows" may as well be deadlifts. he did squats for years before switching to hacks/leg press, too.
-
maybe i should practice standing straight in front of mirrors for hours to retrain my CNS

so does that mean "strict" rows are pretty useeless?
seems only "skinny" guys do them
the pros all cheat super hard with 4 plates or more
me i do rows with like 80kg :(

Practice not posting instead and we'll all be better off. But, as long as dipshits keeps responding to your posts seriously, I guess we're stuck with you.

Muscles do turn into tendons. But you're still wrong....his erectors are too small. As he just said he quit doing deads some time ago.
-
the major reason for quitting them was actually the theory that deadlifts cause the obliques to grow and the waist to widen
and since narow shoulders and wide waist i figured i better qiuit
-
can we get a side shot? i think it could give us a better indication of what's up and what the problem could be
and be sure and include your ass in the pic (no homo)

you probably have mild scoliosis or something like that. much more likely than your leg being shorter.

Did your parents meet at a family reunion if so this could be the reason

DO NOT quit doing deadlifts. They are the single best exercise for overall mass, and essential to building a great back. I don't do them every back day anymore because I am over 40 now, so I do them twice per month. I am a big Yates fan, but he is wrong about deads.

Good shot, but deadlifts are not for everyone, they wreck my neck and low back :'(
-
deadlifts were always my best lift, i did them religiously
my back is utter shit
???
i wonder if half the guys itt would still be giving 'halo shit if they had his condition? i've had similar problems over the years (in that it's something that doesn't affect most people) and every time you ask a question about something like this, half of the replies are along the lines of "wtf dude why dont you just [suggests something completely obvious that the person has doubtless already tried, making self heard despite having nothing to say]" and then getting mad? WTF? I've never understood this.

Not sure if this is aimed at me but I wasn't giving him shit, I was giving him advice. I assume he posted here because he wanted advice from other lifters.

I hear what your saying. But being a fat blob is as you know is a million times easier to be than shredded. I looked exactly the same many years ago.

Nice assessment, njflex. Some of us work out to be big and strong. C-Fuzz calling me a "fat blob" is totally deluded.

maybe you were just doing them wrong? afaik most strength coaches say strengthening your back will actually help to alleviate any spinal problems you have.
but again, you have to take great care to use proper form. i can't tell you how many idiots i see in the gym doing cringe-worthy deads with too much weight, doing some kind of insane leaning back spine impingement lockout and then complain about their back. whoever keeps spreading the myth that you need to do that ridiculous powerlifter lockout needs to be shot. it's just as bad as the people that say squatting below parallel is bad for your knees.

BOOM! You nailed it! I used to be all about maxing on deads, got to 560lbs and saw a video of myself and realized it was too sloppy. Now I keep it 5plates per side or less, and just go for slow, clean reps. Back has never grown better.
-

Bingo! Form first, then poundage. The other thing about deadlifts that people don't realize is that there are two phases to the movement.
1. From the floor to your knees, the weight should be moved only with the legs. You are essentially doing the bottom half of a squat.
2. As the bar passes your knees the weight should be progressively shifted to the back, so by the time you are standing erect your back is doing all the work.
The negative is the opposite: your back controls the weight as the bar lowers toward your knees, but once past your knees the legs take over.
For anyone having neck or back pain, I recommend looking up at the ceiling the whole time you are deadlifting (or squatting). This forces your lower back to stay flat and should alleviate any back or neck issues.

Still waiting on C-Bitch's picture... ::)

Having one leg longer/shorter than the other is pretty common. I have it and it has caused mild scoliosis of my lower spine. The only real remedy is to wear an orthopedic lift in the shoe of the shorter leg. I never did that, I just learned to live with it.

How did you determine that it was an anatomical short leg?

i've read so much on form, watched so many videos, i think my head is going to explode... i've tried everything everything in the book and then some. i suppose there's a possibility a coach could find something that slipped by my notice, but trust me when i say i know what a good deadlift looks like, and have spent an absurd amount of time worrying over every aspect of form. i, too, cringe whenever i see someone pull with a rounded back, etc.
i'm practically convinced, at this point, there's got to be something wrong with me. i've never even felt the slightest thing in my erectors or traps from doing deadlifts, good mornings, or sldls, for example. pretty much the only place i ever used to feel them was in my lats, and even that is a distant memory.
-

There is nothing wrong with you, just deadlifts don't work right for your body, that's it. Deadlifts never did a thing for me either, so I dropped them and I have no back pains at all.
But of course, you're always going to have people that say things like "you have to deadlift" or "you have to squat" or any of those things, basically they are just trying to project on others what works for them, which is silly since everybody responds differently to training.
-

very strange, are you either really short or really tall or have weird proportions? i'm 6'3" and had to adapt my deadlift form into a more of a weird romanian hybrid to get the most out of them. but yeah you're right, for some people it just doesn't work. maybe try some other way to hit your erectors like back extensions? you just have to find out what's best for you i guess.
i agree that not all exercises are for everyone, some people swear by stuff like upright rows but i personally believe they do more harm than good in most cases.
*edit* something that might help others, what helped me get my deadlift form down better was visualizing and thinking of it as more of a "hip thrust" than a lift. with the glutes and hams doing most of the work and the erectors just being a in a rock-solid stabilizing position. for the lockout, don't lean back, once your head is in a neutral position above your feet, try to actively straighten out as if standing to attention, shoulders back and thrust into the bar while keeping your core consciously flexed, so that you can look down and clearly see your abs, crotch and feet under you.

truly indeed, those are also my sentiments
