We all saw that Jay injured his biceps two years ago in the Mr Olympia. I met Jay yesterday at a Fitness expo in Sydney's Darling Harbour. I said hello to Jay while he was signing photos for people who were lined up to get a photo taken with him or just get a signed photo. I mentioned that I had a photo taken with him and Dexter before either of them won the Mr Olympia. He said that was in 2001 so he remembered the occasion. I didn't line up but asked if I could take another photo with him. Sure, no worries. He posed a biceps while shaking hands. Then I wanted the arms folded shot and he did that. Then he sort of pushed me a bit like they do in the posedowns. That made me smile so it was a fun occasion. I asked him how his biceps was and he said it was completely healed. So I asked him to pose while I took a photo. I wanted his arm up higher so I took another photo. Big arm! I edited it in Photoshop and had to rotate the photo 20 degrees to look right. Why champs pose the biceps so low is a mystery. Phil Heath did the same thing. Photo later in the thread.

Came across this huge show truck advertising MuscleMag. Some guys were taking photos and took turns standing in front of it. I told them we need a good looking gal there. I pointed out a tall pretty gal but the guy said women won't talk to him. I said it is easy and went over and told her she looked great and I would like her to pose for a few photos in front of this truck. She didn't mind and then I got her to put her bag down and put her hand on her hip. The guy was very impressed and said I was the man. If only I had that nerve when I was a young man!

Look at the judges. A lesson for all muscleheads who compete. Buy your own trophy. In 20 years no one will know if you didn't win something!

Roelly has the most impressive arms of the three here. Then there is Lee Priest. Jay's biceps look fantastic. Split, too.
I didn't get a good look at Phil because there was a long line of fans waiting and I snuck in at the front. Heck, former champs shouldn't have to line up to see musclemen! ;D

Thanks, el uno. It amazed me that both Phil and Jay have their elbows lower than their shoulders when showing a biceps. Heck it has to be higher to look the best. Maybe they don't look at themselves in the mirror enough? ::)

I just started training my arms again. Over the years I have been building gym equipment and using equipment like big angle grinders keeps the forearms up. I can grow my arms faster now than when I was in my prime. The trouble is when I use the really heavy weights my connective tissue hurts. A pity because I could easily get them bigger than ever even at 70. I am more interested in photography than gyms and bodybuilding. The desire to get bigger is still there but the motivation to do so is lacking. Doing squats or heavy leg presses is not something I get around to doing. I do go for long hikes carrying 20kg of camera equipment with me. Keeps my calves at over 17 1/2 inches without training them.

Not sure about that. I played basketball in high school and that helped my calves. It took years and years to build them to 16 inches. The biggest they have been is 18 1/4 cold standing straight.

no I have never used synthol and even when I am very lean I have little definition on the outside of my bicep. I personally think its genetics like Nasser really could never get his back completely ripped

Then this shapely gal with generous thighs had a go. She managed to get her chin over the bar not once but 10 times. Her trick was to swing her big legs back and forth then use the momentum to flip herself up. Impressive feat for a gal that size.

Picture from just a couple of weeks ago. The best way to compare is side by side.
Jay is going to improve more than Phil will because of the lay off but at this
point Phil is easily ahead of Jay;
Especially in the delts.
After 2009, I'm not going to doubt what Jay can potentially bring come Olympia
time. but DO I think he will beat Phil or Kai? NO, Do I believe it's possible for him
to bring the freakiest package Jay has ever brought? Yes, If everything alligns right
he could bring the size of 2006 with the condition and shape of 2009.
If he does this he could win. Possible but not probable.
Check out the difference in delt size in the photo
and then check out the 1st 2 minutes or so of what Ronnie brought at 40 yrs. old
at close to or reportably 300 pounds.
