Even though Jones gave Sonnen an opening when he decided to wrestle the wrestler, it wasn't competitive. But then Jones broke his toe and it was apparent that Sonnen had once again come agonizingly close to being a UFC champion. You have to wonder which episode will haunt Sonnen longer: tapping in the final minute against Anderson Silva or failing to survive another half-minute versus Jones. This sort of thing might really eat away at Sonnen. So close, yet impossibly far. Has he suffered the cruelest of fates along the way? You'd better believe it.

I have no worries for Chael, at all.
Well paid for his fights, and still a well-paid career after fighting is over.
The blonde he's with is not bad either.
Livin' the life even without becoming Champ, np.
I'd rather have Chaels Life than Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, or GSP.
-
Chael also has the gift of gab, sure knows how to sell a fight! Nice career he made for himself!

Agreed!
He will always be remembered in the world of MMA as an entertaining fighter that people would always pay to watch.
He is also lining himself up as one of the voices for MMA and will probably land a sweet deal with Fox sports covering everything from MMA to even boxing.
He is smart and knew how to play the game. Many years ago, prior to his fights with Silva, he was relatively quiet and unknown to the world. Instead of going down that route, he regrouped and employed the tactics employed by WWe wrestlers. Win the crowd by way of your compelling story-line and antics & the fame and money will ensue.

By using his wit and intellect, (and knowing what buttons to press) he could get titleshots way before other fighters who were standing in line for a longer time, and getting paid very well for it!
Gotta love that.

He will prob fight wanderlei for one last big payday as a ufc fighter then go into media for ufc or fox or else do few leads in wwe and retire the second richest mma fighter ever behind Brock
-
IF he fights a SMART fight, he will DESTROY Wand

Chael sucks, was always just a middle of the pack guy. He got so used to losing fights he simply stopped worrying about whether or not he won or lost and just had a philosophical approach to it all. Good Wrestler, average striker, basic BJJ. He should of never been given the decision over Bisping, and Bisping sucks. Chael was never good enough to be a Champion. Nor is that idiot Bisping.
-
Yeah White Belt BJJ he even shocked me when he landed an arm triangle choke on Stann

great wrestler, average striker, basic BJJ. you just summed up Randy Couture who was very successful as a wrestler, Randy like Chael is a VERY tough and gritty fight for anyone so to say Chael sucks is dumb. He was giving up 5 inches in height in the Jones fight, and 9/10 times the bigger skilled fighter wins.
-
Chael actually beat Bisping it looked like a draw though hell, some would even say that Bisping won it
and yes, Randy BJJ is very basic (even though some guy threw a black belt around his neck after he choked out James Toney)
-
;D
if there was any fight that would make Cheal look unimpressive it would be Bisping. good takedown and bjj defense, and good enough boxing to nullify any sort of game plan Chael had. horrible fight for Chael, styles make fights.

he couldnt make in the WWE

LOL chael won't be "eaten away" by anything. the dude is a fucking stud... his post-fight speech and comments were the most noble things i've ever heard come from a sport-fighter's mouth.

What did he say? Dude strikes me as a true warrior.
-
he said that jones was bigger and stronger than him and that jones is a far better fighter than him it was a classy move by chael for sure

yep, also:
- had he won due to jones' fracture, it wouldn't have meant anything to him. he goes into the fight wanting to "see who's the better fighter" and he found out to his satisfaction.
- probably his last fight -- "i'm not the sort of guy to just hang around. if there's not a road to the title, this sport's not for me. i think this was probably my last chance."
it shows all the antics are just surface-level. underneath, the guy is a true badass.
-
great post cephissus
-
I bet it would have been very satisfying to become champion simply because the other guy broke his toe in a freak accident. Especially if you get your face turned into a walking vagina in round one.
-
Chael is a bad dude, will fight anyone anywhere anytime.. cant see him ever backing down from a fight, solid warrior.
