Title: Star Trek: Into Darkness
Post by: Shockwave on May 18, 2013, 04:06:56 PM
Is fucking awesome. And theh did a killer job keeping the villian and the plot true enough to the originals to keep the fanboys happy, and different enough to make the movie enjoyable to everyone else.

Overall, I loved it.

Being a fan of TOS, I was skeptical, but I loved it... much better than the previous movie.  It paid homage to the original show nicely.  Zack Quinto does a great job being Spock and Chris Pine does a good job with Kirk too.  I'm sure Chris' dad helped get him into the business...

It was enjoyable, but taking Star Trek characters and putting them in a movie doesn't make it a Star Trek movie.  It was no different than any other sciFi blow things up movie this summer.

There better not be any whales in the next one.

The previews were good. I am looking forward to Ender's Game this November.

How did the villain obtain that class of starship from the future, just looking at the trailers?

Spoiler

It wasn't from the future, it was a top secret weapons development project.

I think the design of the ship was intended to pay homage to the last few star trek movies, it had a very similar styling to the Enterprise E.

Many interesting twists and turns, although the last 15 minutes of the movie was very predictable.

first 2/3 was fantastic....last 1/3 was meh.  I think they've paid enough homage to the original series...time to "boldy go" into new territory instead of rehashing.
