No need for negativity at all.  For all we know he sold some copies and the kids had a great day.

I haven't bought a body building magazine in years, but I would've if I was there that day, simply out of kindness. I really do hope he sold a few just so he could show the kids they weren't sitting around for nothing.

"Hey kids, why not come with dad to the book store.  Now, don't be worried when creepy men come to the table.  They don't own a van and they are not there to look at you."

"Dad, what did that man mean when he asked you about private sessions?  Is that like the school helper you got for me to help me with math"

The last time I bought a bodybuilding mag, it was an MD, and he had an article in it called the house or something like that. He talked about how his children loved bodybuilding and would hit random poses all over the house. Maybe they wanted to be there?

Hey, they stuck him in front of the Zombie Zone and the new Dan Brown book promo. Can't get hotter real estate than that in a bookstore.    ;D

Such films don't have "points".

Needs to fix those teeth!

He once responded in a youtube video about his teeth. He stated that he was not going to get his fixed teeth or altered because that is the way God intended them to be.

Interestingly enough, a youtube comment responded with, "did god give you you that body? Or did you have to alter it with years of chemical abuse"

This is the warped mind of a bodybuilder. He thinks its wrong to alter the teeth God gave him, but will stick loads of substances into his body to alter the original physique given to him by God.

This is according to his messed up logic, not mine.  :-\

Epic hypocrisy.

There was no point - it is just "One-Eye's" story. The Vikings believed in mysticism and rune stones. One Eye had visions of his death coming in dreams. That's why he didn't fight the Indians. And he wanted to give the kid a chance to get away.

Mads Mikkelsen is a good actor. I liked him in Casino Royale as well. He puts up great performances in the Pusher series of movies.

It's because he spends all his money on gear, and can't wait for anything(hence the shortcut use of androgens) so it's obvious he doesn't want to wait two years for his teeth to be straightened. Instant gratification is the only way the bodybuilder knows.

There are hints that One-Eye is in part, an avatar of Odin.

There are many themes running through the film, some more clumsily executed than others.

In the end I felt that the human aspect of One-Eye (the non-avatar side of him) that was thoroughly suppressed during his captivity was allowed to emerge and define him when he chose to sacrifice himself to save the boy.

What makes the film a resounding success is not so much Mads Mikkelsen, but rather the multiple interpretations that one can give combined with the awesome visuals. In fact, Valhalla Rising has one of the best cinematographies I have seen in the last few years. The brutal imagery of the Scottish Highlands (you can actually feel the cold) and the forbidding landscape of Canada are simply unforgettable.

Can you briefly explain what was the point of that movie?

Mads Mikkelsens character One Eye represented Odin, and the ending "Sacrifice" represented the decline of the Asatro as they came in contact with new cultures and religions.
