went to the bodyfit expo again this ..thousands of bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts huge huge guys there....
Ive noticed with the physiques now no one gives a fuck about actually having a physique i saw a english pro there and a couple other bbers, arms no less than 22" or 23" 5% but with a 40 inch waiste... there was one guy an english bber his waits had to be close to 45.. his gut was miles in front of him... wasnt inspired at all by what i saw made me appreciate my physique even more

Hey Meso, I went to that as well today - first time I've been. 8)
A few observations:
Tight as fuck with the freebies - no giveaways like they do at the Olympia Expos - I came away with jack shit.
Crowds were manic - you had to queue for ages to get a slight glimpse of the pros.
Lots of twinks strutting around in vests
Said twinks clamouring to get their photos taken with all the male fitness models and ignoring the pro bodybuilders.
Ronnie looking surprisingly well considering he looked at deaths door not so long ago
Jay also looking impressive, large and in good condition
Zack Khan fucking monstrous - impressive size, shape and condition and he really should get up on stage
Terry Hollands nearly snapped my arm off when he shook my hand - strong fucker!
Flex looking small but seemed chilled out and approachable
Dana Lynn Bailey surprisingly hot in real life (would hit) - wanted to get a photo with her but the queue was endless.
Bit gutted I couldn't find Kai anywhere, nor Levrone, nor Shawn Ray.
Not a bad day but I'll go on the Friday next year instead of a weekend day when the crowds were ridiculous.

I agree that Branch's success is pretty debatable, esp him winning the AC over Dennis Wolf. I also agree that the lineups 5-10 years ago had a better overall quality. I believe it's too early to say that 'BB is on the decline', sounds too dramatic to me. Beside that, pro BBing is only a small piece of the cake.

My inspiration still comes from the 90's in regard to physiques...

yes. they do in fact. and they are typically hot and in good shape themselves. look at the fitness chikcs in the girls of crossfit thread. think theyd rather date a 160 pound 5'8 twink or a 6'2 220 stud?

I stayed up all night to watch the AC, and it was very, very disappointing this year. Dex & Toney were the only exceptions.
But again, pro BB is only a small part. I still see great talents on local shows.

well he'd have the advantage here then, seeing as this is a site for peeps who are into "bodybuilders" and not "twinks"
it would be better to get a much bigger sample of judges
for example when they do uni studies, they need a certain number of participants to make it valid

Some good points. There were always bittered folks, so this isn't a new trend. I remember that even Arnold was in shock when he saw Dorian winning his first titles, by saying that he was too massive.
People, who complain over and over again should rethink why they're still joining this board. There are tons of alternative boards, from Iron Age to Men's Health, so why are they still here ???

Ya but if the audience has doubled that means your preference is in the minority, same with music, you say it is shit but if they catered to your taste there would be less sales.

that is due in part to the physique and bikini contests and to the shitty quality of the bbing entrants.
There is a lack of quality when it comes to the bbing side, and more Pro cards are handed out, at the expense of quality. The head honchos see only money, and not the lack of quality that their greed begets.
They will pimp out bbing/physique/bikini until the wheels fall off. And that is why they need an oversight committee to watch out for corruption, and other things.

I mean it is not harder to turn pro, it's the same because at the end of the day only 1 guy out of a 1000 gets the pro card so it is the same but it seems like it's easier cause the physiques look better back then, I get it.
