Title: Moisturizers for Day vs Moisturizers for Night
Post by: syntaxmachine on June 04, 2013, 03:26:14 PM
I apply a moisturizer before going out and the same moisturizer before bed. Is there any compelling reason to use some of these moisturizers geared towards night time use vs. the same one I'm using in the day as well? The existence of 'night only' moisturizers seems gimmicky to me, as if its solel purpose is to increase sales.

Nightime is all about repairing and daytime is more about protecting the skin from the environment.  I do use a night cream and a day cream.  For example my night cream or serum would consist of retinol which is I can't use during the day here due to the sun.  My day serum is a vitamin C and over the top of that I use a antioxidant sunscreen.  I don't like creams as I find them heavy.  I prefer serums.  But everyone is different.

How hot does it tend to get down there? Do you find yourself needing to apply sunscreen more than once on a given day? Do you think it likely that there is a substantive difference between your typical night time moisturizer and those branded 'for men'?

My day moisturizer has sunscreen and the night one does not.  I haven't done any research to see if there is any more to it than that though.

If you're looking for just a basic lotion good for day and night, this is highly recommended by dermatologists and can be found just about everywhere (ie; Target, etc.).

Guys just need to put some type of lotion on, after a shower. Only queens and women worry about the texture, flavor, scent, etc....  :P
