The new Conan movie "Legend of Conan" is supposedly going to be about an old King Conan who knows he is older and obviously won't be as panther-ish and physical as Conan usually is. This is what the director says:

“I want the warrior whose joints have started to fuse together, who has to crack the cartilage so he can pick up a sword again. I want the guy who’s not necessarily lost a step, but there’s some rust he has to shake off. I want to embrace that. It makes it a greater hero story. Conan needs to be faced with challenges. The greatest challenge to him isn’t the armies that are set before him. It’s, on some level, self-doubt, a little bit of slowing down and forcing yourself to be heroic beyond what people expect of you. What I don’t want is for him to step back in and look the same. That would defeat the purpose of our story.”

This approach sounds realistic and the look below is suitable for an old King Conan but I don't think Arnold can pull off the no armor look anymore without cgi or a body double.

Maybe 10 years ago Arnold could pull off this look but not today I'm afraid:

Another one?  at 60+?  Very bad idea.

Recognizing he was an aging action star what he should have done was filmed T2-3 or T2-4 concurrently (when he still looked decent) and the studios could have released them every 3-5 years.  They do this all the time.  Much of Superman I and II were filmed concurrently.  Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions were filmed concurrently as well.  Studios like to do this because they can save a ton of money on production costs (set decoration/designs, location, make up, costume design, casting, etc).

No amount of hair dye, face lifts, or steroids, can make him look good enough to be the Terminator again.

Bah!

Exactly, stallone and arnold had there time, move aside and give the other young unemployed actors a chance, i refuse to watch stallone anymore, the last rocky and rambo i have only seen bits and pieces of i cant watch the whole film, shame on him making these movies 20 yrs later, i will never watch a Expendable film neither.

Rumors that Dwayne The Rock Johnson is being courted for Terminator 5. Arnold Schwarzenegger's certainly getting a bit old for the part, but is the Rockinator a solid choice?

Update:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/21/the-rock-vs-terminator

The Rock vs. Terminator?
Terminator 5 might be a prequel set in the time of Sarah Connor's parents.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson might not compete in WrestleMania 30 come next April in New Orleans. That may be because the actor will be joining Arnold Schwarzenegger on the set of Terminator 5.

With Schwarzenegger confirming his involvement in the action sequel, Examiner reports that Johnson is now being considered for the role of T5's next sinister machine. More over, one source close to the project's Annapurna Films says that one version of the script is being written specifically for Johnson himself.

Not only that, the source continues, but T5 may actually be a prequel set in the time of Sarah Connor's parents, with The Rock hunting them down. According to Examiner, "Schwarzenegger may not play the role of a machine in the next film, but a potentially heroic human figure in or close to the Connor family. One theory is that Schwarzenegger's remarkable ability to protect the Connor family in the 1940s or 1950s with antiquated weaponry by today's standards ultimately inspired the machines to develop a terminator in his likeness that was eventually sent to 1984 when Sarah Connor was first targeted for termination."

However, this is merely speculation at this point, but the insider notes that T5 could very well be drastically different from any Terminator film we've seen before.

http://variety.com/2013/tv/news/terminator-tv-series-in-development-with-x-men-writers-1200926394/

‘Terminator’ TV Series in Development with ‘X-Men’ Writers

“Terminator” continues to make good on its “I’ll be back” promise — this time, with a new TV show.

Skydance Prods. and Annapurna Pictures — the shingles behind Paramount’s 2015 “Terminator” reboot — have teamed to develop a fresh “Terminator” television series, hiring “X-Men: First Class” scribes Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller to write and exec produce.

TV project is said to follow a critical moment from the first “Terminator” film — where the film’s story goes one way, the upcoming television show will take that same moment in a completely different direction. Skydance and Annapurna expect the new “Terminator” TV series and rebooted “Terminator” film franchise to have intersecting narratives, as well.

Megan Ellison of Annapurna will produce the “Terminator” TV series with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross of Skydance. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier are on board as exec producers.

This won’t be the first time that “Terminator” has received the small screen treatment. “The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” a spinoff from the film franchise, aired on Fox for two seasons, from 2008-2009. Both Stentz and Miller worked on the drama as producers and scribes.

The pair’s credits also include Fox’s “Fringe” and feature film “Thor.” They are repped by Principato-Young.

The Rock sucks.  They can just CG the Oak again and follow this lead:

Arnold will star as the lead Skynet scientist that reprograms the original Terminator in his own image and helps to send him back to right the wrongs done by him.  That would work a whole let better and then maybe, just maybe they can come to a favorable conclusion (we finally win) with the series.

I doubt it because Hollywood would milk a bull for cash.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke Set For ‘Terminator’ In Sarah Connor Role

It’s official. Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor in the Terminator reboot, re-teaming with director Alan Taylor, who has worked with Clarke in the HBO series Game Of Thrones. Clarke joins Jason Clarke, who is in negotiations to play her son John Connor in a storyline I’ve heard involved a trip into the future. Deadline revealed that he was in talks earlier this week. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also back in his signature cyborg role.

This was a hotly contested role and it came down to Clarke and Brie Larson. Both actresses tested for the producers at David Ellison’s Skydance and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna, and Paramount, which will release the film in July 2015. Clarke’s breakout role came in Thrones, where she plays the dragon-commanding heroine Daenerys Targaryen in that massive HBO series, and is probably the most sympathetic of all vying to rule. She started as a shy sister of an annoying king brother, but has demonstrated the mettle to capably play one of the screen’s most formidable heroines as originated by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron’s first two films in the series. She’s repped by CAA.

"The Muppets Take the Terminators"

Kermit, Miss Piggy and the Gang look for the missing subroutine that will turn all the Terminators into San Francisco street mimes.  In the course of their adventures they discover that the Snuffleupagus was the brains behind Skynet.

When Arnold was the number one box office draw he had a movie that completely bombed. Everyone said his career was tanking and the next movie was huge. I can't remember the names of the movies. Never count him out.

You're referring to "The Last Action Hero" (1993) and then "True Lies" (1994.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will become The Terminator once more when Terminator 5 begins shooting in January. That's according to the actor and former governor himself...

Stallone did Rocky 6 and Rambo 4 in his 60's and was bigger than he ever was.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Calum Von Moger used for Arnold's body double like Roland Kickinger was previously.

Jai Courtney to Play Kyle Reese in ‘Terminator’ Reboot

After testing a handful of guys, Jai Courtney has been tapped to play Kyle Reese in Paramount and Skydance’s “Terminator” reboot.

Emilia Clarke is on board to play Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke will play John Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger will also return in his iconic role. Alan Taylor is directing.

Plot details have not been revealed, other than this is the first film in a stand alone trilogy.

Skydance will finance along with the studio with David Ellison producing for Skydance. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier penned the script.

Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake are on as exec producers. Par will handle distribution.

Courtney is repped by UTA, Mark Morrissey and Associates and Silver Linings Entertainment and can be seen next in “Divergent.”

Arnolds slitty eyes as I've mentioned before are from the fact his skin above his eyelids sags down due to the loss of elasticity obstructing a clear view of his eye. At a distance of course they look worse.  When he's tired maybe been on a promo run and jet lagged it again looks even worse.

Arnold should stop this nonsense! He needs to grow a Stromboli moustache, let his hair go to it's natural color, sit in Joe Weiders chair and and fix this fucking mess called bodybuilding.

HuH ?

Hell no,  he wanted out of bodybuilding by 1974. (when he wanted exposure and was the best BB in the world)  today, he has more than enough with ARNOLD SPORTS FESTIVALS and his image as an legend/athlete is intact, as long as the world SPORTS is linked to his name and not bodybuilding.

What I cannot understand is why is there no more big pro bodybuilding action stars since arnold.

Same reason you don't see baseball players, soccer,Tennis, etc becoming action stars...

Arnold used Bodybuilding as stepping stone to get in to movies , don't forget Arnold at age 22 filmed Hercules in NY when he wasn't even a Mr.O winner .

So you picture Arnold handing his signature role to another guy ?

Really?

Huh ?

Maybe if you read the script it'll make more sense than you think ,   A friend of a friend of a friend told me the story is about the man that the T-800 was modeled after (not the robot itself) so that man ARNOLD, can grow old.

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD Star Jai Courtney Lands Kyle Reese Role in TERMINATOR: GENESIS

The new Terminator film has found its Kyle Reese.  After testing a number of actors for the key role in director Alan Taylor’s (Thor: The Dark World) reboot Terminator: Genesis, we learned recently that Taylor and Paramount had narrowed their focus to two actors: Jai Courtney (Jack Reacher) and Boyd Holbrook  (The Host).  Now Variety reports that the former has come away with the role, as Courtney has been tapped to play Kyle Reese opposite Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) as John Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the iconic Terminator.  Hit the jump for more.

Per Variety’s report, plot details on Terminator: Genesis are firmly under wraps save for the fact that it’s being planned as the first in a new trilogy of films.  Michael Biehn inhabited the Reese role in James Cameron’s original film, so Courtney certainly has big shoes to fill.  The Australian actor was the very best thing about the otherwise forgettable A Good Day to Die Hard and he was sufficiently intimidating in 2012’s Jack Reacher, so it’ll be interesting to see what he brings to the role of Reese.

This isn’t the first potential franchise role for Courtney, though, as the actor will be seen next month in the futuristic thriller Divergent and is poised to return in the sequel Insurgent.  Courtney also has a role in Angelina Jolie’s next directorial effort Unbroken, which opens in theaters this Christmas.  Terminator: Genesis will begin filming this year ahead of a July 1, 2015 release date.

http://www.nerdist.com/2014/04/aaron-williamson-joins-the-cast-of-terminator-genesis-as-new-t-800/

Aaron Williamson Joins The Cast of TERMINATOR: GENESIS As New T-800

The Terminator reboot/requel/whatever Terminator: Genesis has added a new cast member, one that will finally give fans of the series something we’ve been wanting to see… a T-800 model terminator that doesn’t look and talk like Arnold Schwarzenegger (although yes, I know the Sarah Connor Chronicles television series showed lots of T-800 models that weren’t Arnie, I’m talking about the movie series now. And not just the one we saw for a few seconds in the first movie either.) Bodybuilder Aaron Williamson recently announced  that he’ll be playing a T-800 in the next installment of the franchise.

In a statement, Williamson said, “Thanks to an amazing team of people who help me get better each week, both physically and creatively, I’ll be playing a T-800 (Terminator) in the upcoming production Terminator: Genesis. I’m extremely grateful and motivated as this new chapter begins to take shape.” He then released a pic, which, by the way, is fan art and not official production art for the movie, but it does give us an idea of what to expect in terms of how he’ll look in the film. And it also suggests that Williamson won’t just be a body double, with a CGI face of a young Arnold grafted on to his body like was done in Terminator: Salvation, but his own unique T-800 model. Terminator: Genesis  is being directed by Game of Thrones and  Thor: The Dark World‘s Alan Taylor, and stars Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, and of course Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800, and is scheduled for release in July, 2015.
