How is normal off to the side away from all your classmates and teachers? He's a grade school kid and that age, they need to be included, that clearly is not happening. At least he doesn;t realize it. That shit needs to be fixed. Very bad picture.

I'm pretty sure in class he is sitting off to the side and not in the rows with the other kids. The fact is he is disabled. He understands it, he probably doesn't pity himself and he probably has saints for parents with patience that I will never have.
Don't feel sorry for him because he probably doesn't want it. He seems happy. School photos are always fucked up anyways. Most kids in that photo are probably pouting because they don't want to be in it. I bet he is ecstatic.

It may not be right, but I don't think there was much thought given to it. Inconsiderate, sure in the end it was. I just don't think it was some huge deal. But yes, it looks bad in the end.

This is grade school. There are probably dozens of classes waiting their turn. They truck the kids up, sit them down, snap a photo and shout NEXT... This isn't a fashion shoot.

Not a big deal, he's off to the side by 10" - 12", he isn't being ostracized. If anything, they are treating him like a normal kid, by making him have to fit in with the group. I remember those class pictures, they were always rearranging the kids for speed and picture clarity.
It's a double edged sword. If you make too many special modifications to normal every day events like this, the kid's classmates look at them like some pitiful freak that needs all this special help. Also you can't really take him out of the chair and have him sit with the other kids(perhaps with some help from the teacher) because everyone's worried about being sued.
