Doesn't make sense.  Any biological reason for obesity that does not involve overfeeding is already recognized as a disease.  Fatties are going to be lined up for benefits like it was an all you can eat buffet.

AMA is bunch of liberal doctors. They're cure for this "disease" is to prescribe a baggie of weed. That should fix it, the cronic clinics and Doritos would make a fortune.

Makes a lot of sense.

Once classified as a disease, only a drug approved by the FDA will be able to claim to help 'cure' it.

There are legitimate medical conditions that cause obesity and require medical intervention.  The problem is that obesity is a general term that describe a condition but says nothing about how that condition came to be.

You may start seeing people who recieve SSI disability who can't work due to being obese (might be a lot already), yet they can eat all they want. What incentive is there to be in shape? Or to be responsible? There is none. The people who are in shape, or work hard or are responsible are punished by paying for those who are the opposite.
That should be the other way around.

Of course they call it a disease.  The Health Insurance companies and pharmacutical companies that wrote the Afordable Care Act need obesity treatment to be called a disease.  Now they can get tax monies for supplying the treatment because it qualifies under the federal mandate.

It was always going to be this way....

Those solutions don't benefit companies the that wrote Obamacare.  Don't forget that there were no caps on drug costs in the legislation and the federal government isn't allowed to use its bulk purchasing power to lower costs for consumers.

Title: Fatasses melting down on facebook
Post by: Nomad on July 03, 2013, 10:45:42 AM
Quote
The first law of thermodynamics doesn't apply to the human body as a whole, it only applies to the individual cells. For example, during puberty, we all take in more calories than we expend because we have to grow.

But we don't grow out, we grow up. Why? Hormones. The same goes with fat cells. Obesity is simply an excess accumulation of fat in the fat cells. Saying there is more fat in your fat cells doesn't really tell you anything though until you ask why? Hormones. Obese people have a hormonal environment strongly suggestive towards obesity and an excess accumulation of fat in the fat cells forcing a positive energy balance.

Insulin is the main driver which is why low-carb diets work so well without starving yourself but a 1200-1500 cal/day semi-starvation diet won't get you the same results because moderate amount of carbs for the obese drives enough insulin to keep their fat cells in positive energy balance. Their other organs are often compromised just to partition the calories as fat instead of growing muscle of keeping your internal organs robust and healthy.

Fucking fat people.

Title: Cure for obesity
Post by: Kenpo Machine on July 20, 2013, 05:04:08 AM
For those big eaters who realistically will never give up eating huge amounts of questionable food. You must increase the metabolism. The cure is so simple it is overlooked in the quest for exotic diets and ecercise routines:

1. Eat 60% muscle building healthy foods: protein, fruits, veggies, sweet potatos. Eat 40% junk: ice cream, candy, pizza, pastries, etc. The only caveat here is to eat it after you've had a meal from the 60% category.

2. Lift weights like crazy. Put yourself on a weightlifting program that hits all the muscle groups twice a week. Use compund lifts followed by isolation lifts. Lift hard like your life depends on it.

It's that simple. This will turn an obese body into a thick , stocky, powerful, muscular physique in a year's time. You may never be ripped with a six pack, but you were never going to anyway. With this program you will build self esteem, get compliments from others and get laid.

Obese people are that way because as well as being greedy filthy pigs they are also lazy bastards. Trying to get them to follow the above would be nigh on impossible. They all want it on a plate
Title: Re: Cure for obesity
Post by: Chadwick The Beta on July 20, 2013, 06:11:10 AM
I believe that could be true in some cases. Many simply need to ditch the misguided dreams of six pack abs and eating clean. 60/40 clean to junk. Lift like an animal. Show off those big arms.

You may be onto something here.

They should spank black kids harder in schools...they've tried everything else.

Makes you wonder... If they can regulate say, how much one drinks, why couldn't they set up realistic metrics to help a person be healthier?
They already do. See the Adonis principles, and the daily nutrient requirement from the FDA. Anything other then that is too far. Like the mayor of New York trying to ban large sodas? (whatever that was)

There are legitimate medical conditions that cause obesity and require medical intervention.  The problem is that obesity is a general term that describe a condition but says nothing about how that condition came to be.

Lots of things cause it. like mental illness, melancholic depression, PCOS in woman, Diabetes type 2, the overconsumption of calories whilst unwilling to move and being a fat ass.

Yes, I can see millions in West Virginia alone getting social security disability checks for life for being fat. Why work at McDonalds when you can relax and get a check sent straight to your bank account? Get  an Obama free cell phone, housing assistance and food stamps to pay for all that obesity food you need. Life is good living off the suckers who go out and bust their balls for their pay checks.
