The more job outsourcing/illegal insourcing, the lower the wages and work standards. It's been proven time and again.

During a Friday floor speech, Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) said the Corker-Hoeven border security amendment would be a boon to the corporate interests who are quietly backing the immigration reform bill.

Leahy, who says he will begrudgingly support the Corker-Hoeven immigration amendment offered by the so-called “Gang of Two”—Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and John Hoeven (R-ND)—says it “reads like a Christmas wish list for Halliburton.”

Leahy said the Corker-Hoeven amendment, touted as a "surge" to border security, amounts to a crony capitalist giveaway to the many big money interests quietly backing immigration reform.

“I am sure there are federal contracting firms high-fiving at the prospect of all of the spending demanded by Senate Republicans in this amendment,” said Leahy during his floor speech on Friday.

He added: “The litany of expensive services, technology, and hardware mandated by this package is combined with an inexplicable waiver of many normal contracting rules. This is a potential recipe for waste, fraud and abuse.”

Numerous wealthy interests have pushed for immigration reforms that will benefit their industries. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s advocacy group, Fwd.us, brought together high-tech heavyweights like Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt and Al Gore’s billionaire business partner John Doerr to push for immigration provisions to benefit Silicon Valley firms. The group set a $50 million fundraising goal.

“We will use online and offline advocacy tools to build support for policy changes,” says Zuckerberg. “And we will strongly support those willing to take the tough stands necessary to promote these policies in Washington.”

Conservatives view the Corker-Hoeven amendment as further capitulation by Republicans.

As Breitbart News reporter Matthew Boyle has reported, Senate aides say Corker-Hoeven “is going to be filled with kickbacks and buyoffs.”

The Corker-Hoeven amendment is expected to come up for a vote on Monday.

Horrible bill, destructive and opaque.

It's for votes, slave labor for K-Street donors and...well, that's about it.

The increased border security is a red herring because no one is going to enforce the validation process and checks that are already on the books.

This is amnesty.

It will lower wages and increase U.E.

But it's great for corporations and such so who cares.

Let's hope.

This is just more proof that Obama is one hell of a well-groomed Trojan Horse. I feel bad for the Average Joes who voted for him because he made them feel as thought they finally had a seat at the table.

ICE union president: Rubio ‘directly misled law enforcement’
The Daily Caller ^  | 6/24/13 | Caroline May

In advance of a critical vote Monday on a border security deal offered by Republican Sens. Bob Coker and John Hoeven, the president of the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement union urged senators to vote ‘no’ on the amendment.

National ICE Council President Chris Crane issued an aggressive statement calling on lawmakers to vote “no” on the amendment to the Senate’s immigration reform bill and called out Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio for misleading law enforcement on promises of more interior enforcement.

“Senator Corker — a lead sponsor of the 1,200 page amendment being voted on today — has admitted that needed interior enforcement provisions are absent. Senator Rubio, who promised ICE officers and Sheriffs that he would take steps to repair the bill’s provisions that gut interior enforcement, has abandoned that commitment,” Crane said. “He directly misled law enforcement officers.”

"Border Surge"......on brother.

I was reading some details about the current bill and the increased border security, it looks like it's all show, no go.

The increase in agents won't take effect until 2021.

The new 700 miles of fence is less robust than in the original bill and the Attorney General has final say on whether it will be built or not.

The new technology looks to be useless as well because the "E-Verify" system as well as other checks and such will simply be ignored.

This is an amnesty bill.

There's also a clause that states that future congresses can vote on funding it or not so the next one will just vote it down and we'll be back to square one + 12 million immigrants now being citizens.

Fuck them.

Yup. This bill is a joke and treasonous, to boot.

The fact that it is even being discussed should tell us that the Left/Right parties are one in the same.

Libertarians support it to, for the most part. It seems like very few cares about the repercussions.  All these politicians are thinking about are votes.

It's good for business is the answer I'm given.  Keeps wages low and profits high for the "real" producers.

Yep.

I think we've come to the actual reasoning, folks.

Question 1: Does it benefit the elite?
Question 2: How?

And that's how you fashion a bill.

With amendment killed, Rand Paul won’t support immigration bill

Posted by
CNN's Kevin Liptak
(CNN) – Sen. Rand Paul says he’ll vote “no” on the Senate’s bipartisan immigration reform bill, since it doesn’t include his amendment that would grant Congress power to determine whether the U.S. southern border is secure,

The Kentucky Republican had previously been open to supporting the measure, which includes a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants that’s contingent on bolstering border security. Paul introduced an amendment that would have required Congress to vote on whether the border was properly secure, but it failed to gain approval this week.

Without that inclusion, Paul said definitively on CNN’s “State of the Union” he would be a “no” vote.

“Without some congressional authority and without border security first, I can't support the final bill,” Paul told chief political correspondent Candy Crowley.

Supporters of the comprehensive immigration reform bill need 60 votes to gain passage in the Senate, but hope a larger majority will help propel the measure in the GOP-controlled House of Representatives, where its prospects appear dim. With that goal in mind, an amendment was introduced this week that vastly ramps up resources along the southern border, including 700 miles of new fence.

But Paul said Sunday that provision wasn’t sufficient, saying throwing dollars at border security programs wasn’t any guarantee the problem would be fixed.

“We've thrown a lot of money at a lot of problems in our country,” Paul said. “To me, what really tells me that they're serious would be letting Congress vote on whether the border's secure. If the people in the country want to be assured that we will not get another 10 million people to come here illegally over the next decade, they have to believe they get a vote through their Congress.”

Predicting the measure would pass the Senate but fail in the House, Paul said he didn’t trust the White House to accurately assess whether or not full security had been achieved on the border.

“I don't trust this administration or a Republican administration to really make a valid judgment,” he said. “I want Congress and the people to have the right to decide whether the border's secure.”
