This guy is 31 years old WBA middleweight world champion with an amateur record of 350 wins -5 losses ,professional record of 27-0, 24 KO and people still wondering if he's the real deal or not.

This guy was called the baddest man on the planet with a professional record of 3-1 and 0 amateur background (wrestling isn't MMA ).

STFU Coach's bitch .

Boxing has an entire system set up to insure a fighter moves through the racks with an impressive record. I've been to many boxing events and many mma events and more often than not something foul is afoot at boxing events. I've never been to a mma event where I suspected a fighter was being fed a woefully under matched opponent in order to pad his record, I've seen it numerous time in boxing.

If I had Gennady Golovkin's striking abilities added to my JiuJitsu skillset, I would be a VERY happy guy.

This thread isn't about MMA it's about the UFC , padded records in boxing are exposed very quickly in the upper levels.

I was explaining why in boxing an impressive record of victories doesn't mean much and why such a fighter would still have people questioning whether he was the real deal.

Right there you can see boxing is limited.
Put him to fight under MMA or no rules... lets see.
Btw here's something beautiful to watch.
Wait for the knockout. ;)

I love MMA , you don't understand the thread.

Dana White brought MMA to the forefront. And when he got it there he completely under minded it and is in danger of making it a laughing stock like WWE...He jumped the shark with Brock Lesner and went into retard mode with the whole female fighting BS...
-
It's a generational thing. I was not old enough to appreciate Tyson in his prime. I have grown up with mma. That's the difference. MMA, is like the movie Bloodsport. True combat sport.

I am not a fan of Dana White or his ridiculous ways (bullying fighters, exclusivity contracts and low-pay to the fighters).
I don't appreciate him trying to bring Brock Lesnar into MMA. I believe he did so in order to STEAL some of the WWe fans, which in my opinion are die hard fans that spawn many future generations of adamant fans if fed the right form of entertainment.
Pay close attention and notice how he (Dana) recently started:
..incorporating the walk-through of a fighter from his locker room all the way to the octagon. He is trying to slowly emulate the practice seen in the WWe.
..to cultivate a culture of trash-talking prior to fights similar to that seen in the WWe. Chael Sonnen is a great example, hence why Dana loves Sonnen and matches him against big names even though he hasn't earned those fights.
..tells his fighters not to change their entrance theme songs, as to cultivate a feeling of familiarity with your favorite fighter.
If it were up to him (as a business man), he would steal as many tricks as he can from Vince McMahon in order to try to make the UFC as lucrative as the WWe.
Sit tight and before you know it, you will see Dana White in the Octagon getting body slammed, while one of his family members runs into the ring with a foldable chair.

Nah, I like the current UFC One. I am more worried about fixed fights.

If it (UFC) stays the way it is, it will do fine and continue to grow. My worry is that Dana might try to make it a circus sideshow as he follows the path most lined with money.
I even liked the PRIDE format, as the fights that came out of there were pretty amazing (Steroids being allowed and all), but part of their major flaw was that many fights were fixed.

Really? I liked pride more then the "current" UFC. Has it been proven that the fights were fixed? If so, then should we think the same of some of the legends?

Pride is the real mma, man those fights with wanderlei silva soccer kicking guys in the face where classic.

I own them all on DVD. Pride shows were "EVENTS" in every sense of the word.

Exactly why I think Jon Jones should still be undefeated. 12'oclock elbows? That is fucking retarded. He mauled Hamilton. An elbow is an elbow!

I like muay thai.

Anyone who fights in a sport where there are weight classes, rules, gloves, and a referee does not get labeled "baddest man on the planet."
Brock Lesnar would annihilate this twink in a straight up fight.
Want real MMA? Then drop off a few guys in a fully stocked bar. Random weapons around. One guy gets a few friends, the other doesn't.
A ring, gloves, and a referee.....boring, homoerotic, not applicable to the real world.
-
To be fair-MMA is still a relatively new and still evolving sport. I think for the most part the knowledgable fans on both sides of the ledger are done comparing the two.
All the talk of MMA taking over and shutting down boxing are over. The "future" of combat sports was 5 years ago, right now this moment of 2013 MMA was supposed to be king. As we all know it isn't. Boxing is thriving and MMA continues to grow.
Like it or not both sports are here to stay-as long as MMA exists boxing will always exist if not only for this fact. Boxing is the premiere "striking" sport. MMA athletes will ALWAYS need to incorporate the art of boxing into their skill set. And in a lot of ways MMA has helped boxing step up their game in terms of promoting and marketing. Not only in this country but world wide.
I love both sports as well as wrestling(not all star) and am 100% grateful that w/ the rise of MMA a whole set of new opportunities have sprang up for some of the World's greatest athletes in collegiate wrestlers.
A healthy MMA(UFC) and boxing scene benefit everybody from fans to the athletes. I say enjoy them both and don't deprive yourself of some really great fights.

The 80s was the best era in boxing.
