Why do something like this?  What's the motivation?  It's not like this will pay off in ratings or anything?  Seems like it's more likely to hurt ratings?

Channel 4 to broadcast daily Muslim call to prayer during Ramadan next month

    Call to prayer usually delivered from a mosque and relayed by loudspeaker
    Five calls a day but Channel 4 will only broadcast the morning call for the 30 days of Ramadan
    Broadcaster had been criticised in the past for giving airtime to extreme Islamist views

Calculated business move plain and simple.

Could succeed or bomb.   Either way, money is usually unbiased when it comes to business.

I realize it's all about the money, but I don't see how this could possibly pay off? ???

sure it could.  Two groups you attract viewers from: 

1.  Muslims
2.  People who believe in progressive religious equality policies.

Yeah, but only 5% of British society is Muslim (I think) and how many leftist morons could their be in Britain?  Oh... Never mind, I see what you mean...  ;D
