Shit, I had a Star-Tac. Paid over a grand for it and it had like 45 minutes of talk time. Was bad-ass at the time, tho...

Wasn't expensive, just happened to disappear around then (it was in USA/CANADA by 2006, discontinued in 2008).

Tab still exists oddly enough... It's just hard to find.

Eastman Kodak

Standard Oil

Alexanders

Woolworth

Is the current Kodak that makes digital cameras the same as Eastman Kodak?

The Woolworth name definitely brings back memories as a kid. There used to be one in the local mall we would go to as a kid... I would go to the Mayberry Ice Cream and then roam through Woolworth after church almost every sunday.

Remember Motorola use to be on the top for years and today no one is even thinking to buy it

Google bought all of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 Billion, paying a 60% premium than what it was being traded at in the stock market the week prior.  Motorola Mobility is #206 on the Fortune 500 list.  They also just recently acquired the old Nokia factory in Texas to assemble their new line of phones

Motorola Solutions (the company that does government and enterprise tech systems) is still listed as #274 in the Fortune 500 list, with sales of over $8 Billion dollars, and 15% profit in 2012.

I think both Motorolas are going to be just fine  ;D

the city i grew up in, our football team has been one of the noted programs in all of southern football............all the guys from my hometown we have some big dudes, my buddy templeton has genetics like a beast, he weighed 135 his sophmore year, weighed 195 huge his senior year, and would go in and smoke all the football players, they would get pissed and ask him what he was on, this was in 1988 when cybergenics came out, he would go to his bag and pull out the cybergenics............. .. ;D

Motorola's sales have more than doubled in the last 20 years..  So you clearly have no idea what you are talking about chump.

I do have  a Motorola phone.  I still stand by the fact that they are the best when it comes to device hardware.  But lets put my personal preference aside....

Yes they have recently been surpassed by companies like Samsung, Apple, etc. etc.  But no one in their right mind can say that the brand has "vanished" - not even close.

I was just discussing a Motorola case study in my PhD dissertation, in 2009 Sanjay Jha (Motorola CEO) was the highest paid CEO in America because of how smart he was to align his company so close to Google with the introduction of the Motorola Droid, this not only kept his company afloat and competitive against Apple's iPhone but it also gave Verizon a fighting a chance since the iPhone was an AT&T exclusive.  Fast forward a few years, Motorola cell phone division is then acquired by the biggest tech name in the world.

As I said Motorola is going to be just fine.
