Title: Hundreds of Al-Qaeda Members Escape Following Abu Ghraib Jailbreak
Post by: Rudee on July 22, 2013, 03:37:15 PM: As many as 500 prisoners, most of them senior Al-Qaeda members awaiting execution, reportedly escaped from Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison last night during what Reuters is calling a "military-style assault to free them."

The methods were crude but effective: Suicide bombers drove cars laden with bombs to the gates of the prison and blasted them open. Foot soldiers then attacked guards and reinforcements with explosives and guns as men in suicide vests stormed the prison to free inmates from their cells. Ten police officers and four militants were killed in the battle, which dragged on into early Monday morning. When the dust cleared, hundreds of prisoners were gone.

Hundreds of them. Most of them senior Al-Qaeda members! You would think this would be a pretty big story. Apparently people too busy talking about the Royal baby and Trayvon Martin to care.

Well, we now have 500 Al-Qaeda running lose who were penned up for years and will likely be seeking payback for their mistreatment. I'm pretty sure we will be hearing from at least a few of these people in the near future, as in Ala-Snack bar!!! Kabooom!!! Kapow! Kablooey!!!

What blows my mind is how easily this attack was carried out. Did they not have a maze of concrete barriers around the perimeter to prevent vehicles from ramming the main gates? That's perimeter defense 101.
