Here's an idea. Instead of sounding like a carnival weight guesser (which seems like a pretty cool job) how about going to a submersion tank testing facility, spending $75 and two hours and get a valid BF percentage? Or you can just continue to lie to yourself and look like an idiot. Thanks idiots.

You are holding water , creatine ? I say 12%
-
most people who post here are 15% or so
but get rated at 10% by getbig clear voyants

I send all my clients to fitness wave. $59 gets you a complete BMI with accuracy.

Perfect. Good price and accurate real results. Thank you sir.

I just use a clothes peg with notches in it.

I wish I had a testing facility like that available. That or a DEXA machine test.
I don't know anyone who did either though, except for looking for eventual bone mass loss due to illness.
-
can someone explain the submersion testing for me and why it's so accurate. never read in to it and cnba right now..

I would think a medical bodyscan like this would be a better way to determine bodyfat%

Here ya go. This is something I just thought up. Please excuse the crudity of the chart, my abacus broke and some of the little beads rolled away.
-
"I would think a medical bodyscan like this would be a better way to determine bodyfat%"
Perhaps. I can imagine it would cost substantially more than $59 unfortunately.

Hey Tommy!
Jim Quinn said on the ESPN coverage that they did a skin fold measurement which showed 0.0% bodyfat on Flex Wheeler at the Gold's in Venice one week before the 93 Mr. Olympia. He also said Flex was the only bodybuilder to ever do that. ;)

;D Sir, I was there when it happened. Not in the actual room (the Intrafit office) but across the gym in the first room. I knew something had just happened, I just didn't know how important it was.
-
I have always said this. Great thread, Tommy.

It's pretty similar price to get a DEXA scan

Nice.
Live and learn I always say. Good price. Accurate? I have no idea.
DXA Scanning Costs and Options
The cost of our comprehensive DXA scan includes a multi-page color x-ray report, available immediately after your exam.
We recommend you consult with a personal trainer, nutritionist, or a physician regarding your results.
-Identifying health risk associated with excessively low or high levels of total fat
-Identifying health risk associated with excessive accumulation of intra-abdominal fat
-Determining ideal body weight
-Designing diet and exercise recommendations
-Assessing the effectiveness of nutrition and exercise interventions in altering body composition
Cost: 1 DXA Scan = $85

You'll love this, Tommy.
There is a pretty interesting thread over at BB.com, particularly when the guy posts what came out as just under 15% from a DEXA scan (THE RIGHT SIDE IS THE 14.8%)
A lot of people are going to hate this post because it blows their ideas of 15% out of the water :)
Just remember - this guy isn't particularly built so his 15% might not look like yours.
I thought I was at 15% but I'm rethinking that logic now :-\

Read the thread - you're going to think the same thing. DEXA must be inaccurate! etc

I was at the OTC in Colorado Springs in late Oct 1989. Greg Lemond (he won the Tour de France three times) was there. He had just won the Mens Road cycling World Championship. Lemond was 5'9" 151 pounds. His face was gaunt and hollow. When he spoke the fibers in his face and jaw twitched and jumped. You could not count the veins in his arms and legs. His hands & fingers looked and felt like little copper twigs. The fat in his palm pads was gone.
He came out of the tank at 7.7 percent.
-
I remember a reading a quote by a pro bb that said no bodybuilder ever went below 6%.
If he was right or wrong, I have no idea.
-
I read enough threads from BB.com just then to be seriously doubting DEXA

a ripped bodybuilder can look smoother than the average muscular ripped person and still have less bodyfat% because of their large amount of lean bodymass(muscle).
to illustrate my point.
take a box that is 100*100*100mm of meat. now give it a surface that is 1mm of fat.
now take a box that is 150*150*150mm of meat and give it a surface of 1mm of fat also.
fat% of the 100mm box, about 6%
150mm box, about 4%
I would say the biggest most ripped bodybuilder on stage are closer to 1-2% for sure if their skin folds measure 1-2mm. so flex claim infamous 1% measurement probably isn't too far off really..
-
1% or less

If Flex said he had 0% bodyfat, Munzer was at -4%.

So a 250lb bodybuilder is 1-2% total bodyfat?
So he may have only 2.5lbs of fat on/in his body total?
-
science says 7lbs of visceral fat is mandatroy for survival.
so thatll be 3.5% on 200lbs guy.
low 4% is pretty much absoute fatfree und the skin fat.
as in everything striated.
that underwater thing, how would that not overspil if cswol sat in it? ???
btw as i said some other thread, this underwater method, im not so sure, its regarded as the gold standard, but i remember a guy i knew, not even bodybuilder, he was tested at 4% something underwater method, sure he was lean, but didnt look so shredded like even 6% bodybuilders.
what gives maybe having less muscle lower fatlevels look less impressive ???
you should get yours done in a submersion tank
you must be close to the limit of how ripped you can get
-

where did you read that? not saying you're wrong just want to read about it.

this is why the most visually ripped people in the world are drug addicts (i mean heroin etc, not PED )

the guy seemed very normal in interviews but must have done some crazy things

if my family ever found a picture of me in a thong on stage they would disown me....hmm tough choice
1. diet down, get on stage, kill myself with 600lb deadlifts and good mornings ::) to diet on chicken and brocollli nd loose 10 pounds of muscle to be judged by a bunch of men
2. or live the dream, fuck hot chicks, eat like shit and enjoy the amazing food life offers while I walk aroundat 8% bf year round, without ever having to break a real sweat in the gym..... while my parents cover my car insurance.
tough choice ::) think doing a show will have to wait ;)

Americans are too obsessed with numbers.
% body fat means nothing to a bodybuilders. Arnold had the best method. If it jiggles it is fat.
