Many of these large comic conventions have gone mainstream and now everyone wants to go. I used to live in SD. I remember in the early 2000's simply walking up to the convention center, buying a ticket and walking in... that's impossible to do today.

Comic conventions started out as a geek/nerd mutual admiration society, but now the Hollywood studios and big corporations control everything. It's sad.
