Title: Wheeler Dealer - Question for Brits
Post by: Roger Bacon on July 31, 2013, 07:29:41 PM
This show is on in the United States now, and I watch it.

Whenever they have a part reconditioned or something the paint shop or garage they go to is really tiny or looks like it has a tint for a roof or something.  One guy reconditioned car seats in his apartment.  Another guy built engines in his living room.

What's that all about?

???

Do you guys get your cars worked on in tents and stuff?

They work on obscure cars so fixing them is a cottage industry.... Except for MGs. Did you see that episode?

No, haven't seen that one.  I like the Alfa Romeo episode and I've seen them do two MBs.  These guys are funny, I like the show...  8)

There's many Americans fixing/working on cars in their garage.

Btw, here's a picture from the old Caterham factory in Dartford:

The Aston Martin factory at Bloxham around 15 years ago might not have impressed someone thinking it would be a squeaky clean, fully automated factory, but there were many skilled craftsmen working. Definitely not the sort of factory you see at McLaren cars nowadays.

That's cool, I love places like that.

I recently saw a show about a custom made British luxery car (I can't remember what it was called) but it had a wooden chassis.  It was really strange.

I just watched the episode with the BMW Isetta, it was funny watching them both go on a drive in it.

Just wait till you see 6ft5 Jeremy Clarkson fit in the Isetta:

And then in the even smaller Peel P50 (yes, smaller than the Isetta):

Reason?

He is the epitome of everything I despise in a fellow man.

Even his skin looks feeble.

I feel the same way about Al Sharpton...
