Yeah, I bet your right.  It would be cool to go there just because I believe almost everyone drives pre 1960's American cars...  :o

i wouldn't worry too much about warships.  cause with the number of bases we have, any launch against us would be instant suicide.

probably just a nice exciting naval parade.

Fun stuff and I'm sure good memories.  It doesn't hurt at all to know how to extract Iron, or other elements, from earth and be able to form a crude forge along with metal casting and then be able to machine the desired results.

That's great, simpler than I would have thought!  Watching Part 2 Now

I had a gear that was missing some teeth to an old motorcycle that took forever to find.  This would have done it!!!!!!!

It is really cool shit.  There is a lot of info on the net about it.  It's dangerous so know what you're doing for sure before jumping in.

There's a PBS documentary on Netflix, Secrets of the Viking Sword.  This guy makes a forge the way it's claimed the vikings learned to from Asians.  It was pretty cool.  He stacked bricks in a circle about a 3 feet in diameter, and 4 feet all.  With two vent holes in the bottom and filled with charcoal.  He then bricked over the top in a pyramid kind of igloo like form.  He covered it in mud and lit it with the crucible already inside.  Him and his assistance stoked it for 8 hours I think.  He claims did some other stuff, added carbon and some other stuff and he claims this is how vikings made such great carbon steel blades so long ago.

Some modern metallurgist examined a sample, and said it was very comparable to modern steel.

Oh yeah, I think I'll research this more.  I weld and stuff so I'm pretty aware of how hot/dangerous this shit can be.   :o

Thats a big deal in Cuba...keeping those things running. I saw a thing on Discover or whatever talking about that shit. Its a cottage industry. They talked to collectors who are itching to get down there and grab cars when and if the commies ever go. However with Obama and the LIbs.....I imagine having Russian junk floating 90 miles from Miami is no big deal.

Mind you I don't like Russia, they are just a wolf waiting to jump at opportunities, no different than the US, just much smarter than in the past, but regarldess the Russians are not dumb.

Haha, what makes me laugh however is kind of the joke I made a couple years back.

How would the US feel if Iraq wanted to build a military base in the US?

But oh noes, that doesn't happen only the US gets to build military bases in sovereign states and move its shit around.

Oh wait Russia now does? Oh the horror! Who woulda thunk? HAH!

Really?

You mean we want a strong military and would prefer our adversaries not have a strong military?

Well...way to pick up on that dumbfuck.

Any more obvious tidbits of knowledge you wanna share?

A donation to wounded US veterans would be a better and more patriotic choice. (and it would enrage a_ahmed just as much)

The Japs just launched a brand new helicopter carrier. I guess it has the chinese worried. All the articles say that the Japs have a very modern military but I've done 2 exercises with them and was not impressed with their ground forces. I guess their navy is better.
