With little evidence, the National Enquirer claims that O.J. Simpson has contracted diabetes and is near death inside his Nevada prison complex.
UNCONFIRMED: But probably false. Simpson's lawyer says he's healthy and hale, and the Enquirer's source is unsurprisingly anonymous.
Supermarket shoppers were greeted in classically dramatic fashion in checkout lines this week by the National Enquirer, which announced that O.J. Simpson is near death in prison with "THREE MONTHS TO LIVE!" So is the rather plump convicted robber truly on death's door thanks to diabetes, high blood pressure and poor eating habits? Here's what we know.
United States laws make getting information on a person's health from a hospital or medical facility next to impossible. Simpson is currently serving a 33-year sentence for armed robbery and kidnapping at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Pershing County, Nev. MSN News spoke with Brian Connett, public information officer for the Nevada Department of Corrections. Although Connett could not comment specifically on Simpson's health, when asked about allegations that the former NFL star is near death, he laughed.
"I can tell you that inmate Simpson is in general population and interacting with other inmates," Connett said.

The nat'l enquirer used to be a fcking joke... but in the age of technology, they have broken some HUGE stories in the past 2 decades.
The frank gifford cheating thing - back in 97 or 98 - was the start of it. Remember they single-handedly SUNK the entire career of John Edwards for that secret baby thing.
They said some things during recent political campaigns - and those people didn't sue, which is usually what one does when a mag with a shitload of money claims an affair (if its' not true...) So I think in the age of snitching, smart phones with audio/video, cameras the size of fingernails, and the social media thing... I woudn't automatically doubt them.

People don't just die from Diabetes, especially if their diabetes is being managed by way of diet, exercise and insulin administration. What I mean is that it is not like pancreatic cancer, whereby you most likely have a 6-8 months window for living prior to death. Millions of Americans live with Type I & II diabetes, many of which aren't too strict with their diet, exercise or even medication regimen.
Diabetes, especially Type II, is very controllable and while sitting in Jail, I am pretty sure that his diet isn't too abundant in any particular forms of food products.
I highly doubt this to be true. While diabetes can certainly cause increased blood pressure and a whole sleuth of comorbidities, I doubt this story is real.

I just caught that. They gave him 33 yrs for something Rick James did similarly (kidnapped his lawyer with one of his whores) and only got 2.5 yrs.
So they do retry you for old cases in America.

they wanted to punish him for the murders, definitely.
however, OJ did decline a deal for 2 years in prison on this one. His ego or whatever... He thought he'd beat the case entirely. Personally, if there's a recording of me sticking a gun in someone's face demanding shit... that's dead to rights... I'm gonna take the damn plea.

Just watched a 2 hour, 20th anniversary documentary of his infamous case, bronco chase, etc... What a joke that guy was found innocent.
