I think you're confusing Bill Gates to Steve Jobs.

Jobs didn't give a penny to charity, he was a dick to people around him. Gates is the greatest philanthropist in the history of mankind. Who cares what he wears. He could hold on to his cash, but he gives it away and has made many of his billionaire buddies do the same. He's saved around 6 million people from death so far. Jobs has just created an annoying army of snobs.
