http://www.forbes.com/sites/ryanmac/2013/08/14/edms-46-million-man-how-calvin-harris-became-the-worlds-highest-paid-dj/

Less than a decade ago, Adam Wiles was working the aisles of a Scottish grocery chain. Living out of his parents’ house without a college degree, he had all but given up on his dreams of making it as a musician, consigning himself to stock food items on store shelves for the rest of his life.

Looking back on that bleak outlook today, the man who’s remade himself as Calvin Harris emits a nervous chuckle as he fidgets with the permanent black ink on his right forearm that reads, “Enter With Boldness.”f

That’s become the mantra of Calvin Harris, who pulled in an estimated $46 million over the past 12 months to make him the highest-earning DJ in the world. With neck scruff and a thick Scottish accent, the 29-year-old songwriter and producer is the face of the electronic music revolution that has long simmered in Europe and finally made its way to America.

Just walking in and getting a bar tending job isn't as easy as it sounds.  Generally they promote bar backs up when a position becomes available.

Try getting a job as a valet at a casino (if you have them in the area) or some other swank location.  $15 an hour plus tips is what they pay here.  My receptionists son does this now until school starts back.

Don't charge by the session or by the "package". Lower the usual session or package price to a monthly charge. If someone charges $60.00 per session or $720 for 12 sessions (4 weeks) chances are the client won't finish the 12 sessions in that 4 weeks, they MIGHT finish their sessions in 5 weeks or 6 sometimes 7 weeks. That screws up cash flow big time. With the exception of our professional athletes, our regular clientele, we start at $449.00mo for semi-private/small group, that breaks down to $37.50 per session. So, even if you had 10 regular clients at that rate, that's $54k per year and you set your own schedule.

group training and bootcamps are where the long term $$$ is.

2 groups in the AM, 2 groups in the PM... 6-10ppl per group. $10-15 per person... Monday-Friday plus a Saturday AM class. 21hours a week. Easy $4k/month if you know what you're doing.

well, most personal trainers get into personal training because they can't 'hack it' in a regular job... they got into training to get away from having to sell or having to deal with numbers.

a smart trainer will own his own training business.. having other trainers work for him training clients. (client Joe pays XYZ-Training Inc $60/hour for training... trainer Tony trains client Joe... XYZ-Training Inc. pays trainer Tony $20/hour... XYZ-Training Inc. net's $40; Now multiply that by 4 trainers, averaging 4.5hours training per day, 6 days a week.... you get the idea)

I agree. I wonder what % of personal trainers make "good" money.  If you wanna see what car the personal trainer at your gym drives, just look for the most beat piece of shit in the parking lot.

Usually because most are still selling packages/sessions and have to keep chasing the money waiting for peoples sessions to get used or they just work as an employee

that's because most trainers are just kids with high school educations who just know 'how to workout' and got a job at 24hr fitness... and 24hr fitness paid for their cert(s).

look for the trainer who drives an SClass or an F250 and wears a Panerai... and you know he must be doing something right.  ;) ..... and stay away from the guy who'll train you for $20 and is always available. you get what you pay for... and there's a reason he's always available. lol
