Title: Critique my diet
Post by: Big N on August 24, 2013, 09:31:59 AM
I'm 5'11 about 170lbs (lean/natural). My arms, shoulders, chest, and back is already lean/cuts. But due to my genetics my stomach area is the last place to go. So in other words i'll be risking more lean muscle mass as i get my stomach area leaner/flat. I can easily get in 3 meals but with my hectic schedule that 4th meal is hard since I barely have time (no excuses though).

Carbs - oatmeal, sweet potato, brown rice, rice cakes, red beans
Protein - 100% whey protein, chicken, fish/tuna, 98% lean ground beef, turkey burgers/turkey
Fats - olive oil, peanut butter, cashews/peanut butter
Vegetables - roman lettuce, asparagus, broccoli, green peas, pickles
Fruits - strawberries, blackberry, raspberry, pear

You have a point but not really. If i squeeze in a 4th meal then it'll be around 11pm? Which is 1-2hrs before sleep.

Well diet/nutrition or a meal plan is all in all the same thing. My diet is based on the listed foods that i'd be breaking up my micros with based on my height/weight and daily calories.

I'd post a pic but i'd rather be an unknown creature.  ;D The diet is ok I agree, nothing spectacular since i'm not planning on doing a "show" or lose a massive amount of weight. Just trying to keep it basic and simple. My workouts might be suffering a little but not a lot. I'm currently 12 weeks post op with my shoulder surgery. But i'm working pretty good with moderate weights on my arms (no bicep yet) , shoulder, back (upper/lower), chest (not yet), legs are good, and abs are very stubborn to go.

Two shakes a day? Not so appealing to me, i'm fine with one shake a day. Maybe squeeze in more snacks?

Ahh put together, this is where my lazy ass come in. For now my daily micros are not counted for but i'll try to put that together later. But for now this is what i have sorry.  ;D

Goals - Lose fat around my belly and love handles, get more thickness in my lower/upper back, put a peak on my bicep and thickness in my tricep, my traps are solid but just need my deltoids a bit wider, i have good size on my chest just need to make it thicker, legs and calves are decent. I might have to lose between 5-10lbs(estimating) of fat depending on how much work my stomach needs. In which it is lean now but not lean enough.

those two threads are suited to you. you just want to be hand fed given the fact you couldn't be bothered to have opened up either thread. how do I know? cause you just said they aren't suited to me. you should have just been honest and said I was hoping someone will give me all the answers I need with as little effort possible on my part.

I am also natural and lean. Some steps to consider:

a. Eat often (4-5 times/day). Let the right kinds of food do the cut, not the amount.

b. Workout as hard as you muster regurlarly and up the cardio. Not too light either.

c. Allow cheat meals or days whatever you prefer to retain energy for doing "b".

.. My last cut didn't go so well because I ate to little food basically  :-\

Right, some basic simple advice then.
Are you gaining weight at the moment?
If yes cut your current food in half.
Are you maintaining your weight at the moment(is it static)
If yes cut your current food by a quarter.

Weigh yourself in 4 weeks then if you are losing weight carry on doing what you are doing if not cut back some more.

You can maintain a sensible lifestyle without sacrificing your home life or social life.

You can do the above or you can follow some crackpot starvation diet advertised elsewhere on this forum.

Eat out of a cooler you bring from home and not food you receive from the window of a car and you will reach your fitness goals :D
