Title: The Front Relaxed pose

Back in the 80s when i started competing the judges would tell you to relax and stop holding arms out,now its anything goes.

Yep, they knew how to look for shape and symmetry back then.

Keeping your rib cage up, spine straight, lats flexed, stomach sucked in AND keeping your hands relatively low is not easy.

Biggest front lats that I have ever seen. Yes, I came up with a new judgement criteria. FRONT LATS.

Edit: perfect example of a non aesthetic physic. Looks like a bull-frog in this pose.

There's nothing "relaxed" about this pose nowadays.

The pose has become a bad parody of itself.

It's looks shit and is not a pose that can be judged fairly.

Serge Nubret is a great example.

"Relaxed" pose.

And this is how a bodybuilder should look when walking or not hitting the mandatory poses, not the ridiculous "try to walk while flexing hard" that moves like a Borg with incontinence.

Random relaxed (sometimes really relaxed) poses that impressed me over the years -

It was a great pose for the Mentzer brothers, they really looked rugged just standing around.

What?! I think he looks great there. Sure, his limbs are a little on the long side, which throws the symmetry off a little but he looks damn impressive to me. If they lined all of these guys up, Some of whom are midgets, I don't think any of them would measure up to Arnold, except for maybe Dillet.

Lol I knew I'd catch some heat for that comment.

In that pic: chest way to big for everything else. The only pose where his chest actually looks too big. Every other pose and he looks flawless with that chest. Also the straight on shot reveals a wide waist there....as soon as he lifts his arms, his lats come down to insert in his hips giving him the beautiful (no homo) taper and tying everything together.

Come at me GetBig  :D

These pictures (and physiques) are almost 50 years apart. Not to take anything away from Paris (though I don't think he looks like the "undisputed" best ever) but each for their era was pretty much ideally proportioned physiques.
