Why do you people watch that shit?
Love for muscle, but not as straightforward as bodybuilding?

What's that? There's not much muscle left on Superfly or Roddy Piper, but they are legends in their own right :D

They have great themes as well

Is their encounter more lifechanging and more impacting globally as watching men in glittery thongs on stage? Not at all, but still amusing!

Snuka competed in some bodybuilding shows, I believe, in the Carolina's. I think Mr. Nobody posted pics a while back of "Superfly" and Steamboat onstage, and someone else had up video footage of the contest on the Wrestling board.

I've meant wrestling in general.
Maybe if you're 14 ys old, you can be entertained by such circus.
My point is if you're attracted to men in glittery thongs you are sexual deviant, even if you deny that, but if you're attracted to wrestling you're just dumb fuck.

So i was just wondering how there is a full bowl of spectators.

Ok, i found the explanation.

Quote
But this was not always the case; in the early 20th century, once it became apparent that the "sport" was worked, pro wrestling was looked down on as a cheap entertainment for the uneducated working class[24]—an attitude that still exists to varying degrees today.[26] The French theorist Roland Barthes was among the first to propose that wrestling was worthy of deeper analysis, in his essay "The World of Wrestling" from his book Mythologies, first published in 1957.[7][24] Barthes argued that it should be looked at not as a scamming of the ignorant, but as spectacle; a mode of theatric performance for a willing, if bloodthirsty, audience. Wrestling is described as performed art which demands an immediate reading of the juxtaposed meanings. The logical conclusion is given least importance over the theatrical performers of the wrestlers and the referee. According to Barthes the function of a wrestler is not to win: it is to go exactly through the motions which are expected of him and to give the audience a theatrical spectacle. This work is considered a foundation of all later study.

It's not news that wrestling a la WWE/WWF is a spectacle

It was very amusing to see Superfly face Roddy Piper again, even though both of them had reached their ancient years :D

The only thing that fluctuates on Piper now is his waist-size.

I've watched pro wrasslin since I was about 8 year old.  Just a fun way to let go, suspend reality for a bit and enjoy the big show.

When it comes pro wrasslin you either get it or you don't.....no inbetween.

I havent watched in about 10yrs but used to really enjoy it.  Always laugh at those who bash it with the "its fake!" line. Really?  I wonder if they know movies and tv is fake too?

Rassling is akin to an outrageous paranormal or conspiracial documentary that thinks it's real but is not.

To each to their own but I can't understand how someone can stay interested in wrestling year after year, the same storylines, like the content in a bodybuilding magazine, recycle every 6 months.

Temporary reality escape and entertainment. Get over it.

Yea...this is the promo that got me pissed off as a kid.  I wanted Tony Atlas to beat the shit out of him and Dr Shultz.  Met Shultz later in life and he just said that he was just trying to put meat in the seats and he did what it took to get those people in the crowd.
