Title: Where do you getbiggers shop? Clothes that is...
Post by: Rhomboids on September 08, 2013, 02:16:57 PM
Im getting in my late 30's now.  I really don't like wearing shorts anymore and when i do, i wear stuff that i'd wear to the gym, like running shorts (i don't run of course, just lift).  After this summer i'm throwing away all of my cargo shorts - i don't think anyone looks good in those loose packets shits.

I don't like to look like i put too much thought into what i wear.  I'd be embarrased to match my shoes with shades and have a perfectly groom beard - i'm a fucking man.

I'm looking for a store that makes clothes for man - not these fags that weigh 120lbs on a good day and can only fit into skinny jeans.  I don't want to shop at the Gap or Banana cause i don't wanna wear the same shit everyone else does.  I'm leaning towards the casual professional look and perhaps shopping at Men's warehouse for the casual clothes.

How do you monsters dress when a casual occasion begs your indulgence?

To be honest, you sound like a 14 year old who is trying to rebel against society because you're trying not to wear what everyone else wears. Oh brotha. Who cares what everyone else wears. If you like Gap clothes, then wear Gap clothes. It  seems like you do not want to wear something not because you don't like it, but because you're trying really hard to be different.

With that said, I really only shop at Express. They are a little pricey, but their clothes are really nice. I know getbiggers are hardcore and love to wear mans clothing and gym clothes no matter what, but I like to look good when I go out.

Costco has some good casual clothes for men and the prices are fine. I stick to basics. Another good place to buy sensible clothes is Land's End Online or Catalog. Eddie Bauer also has decent clothes for men who are no longer into boys clothes.

Shorts are fine. I like wearing shorts which are knee length, fit comfortably and have the usual pockets one finds in casual slacks. I am with you on the idea that Cargo shorts are out. Who finds enough crap to put in all those pockets anyway?

I have not shopped at the Men's Warehouse. Being retired, there are very few occasions when I need to dress up. When I need a suit, I buy my suits somewhere where they sell them as separates because the slacks are always way too big when the the jacket size is right for me.

This is decent advice, especially about not giving a fuck what others think.

I prefer a mix of really overpriced expensive shit and casual cheap clothes. For example I have a few pairs of $200 jeans that I'm ashamed to have spent that much on, but with big legs, having a pair that fits perfectly is nearly impossible, so I throw out some extra cash for jeans.

T shirts I never spend more than $20. I prefer simple, plain, non-advertising/overly busy looking shirts; like just plain crew necks or v necks in a few colors.  If you're fit and in shape, or worse, overly muscular, then wearing "loud" clothing makes you look like an insecure douche bag.

My clothes are half from overpriced department stores (I'll throw Express in there) and half from cheap places, the last 2 v necks I bought were from Walmart  :D

asos.com, american apparel, h&m, urban outfitters, amazon

but im in my 20s and dress casual for work (no, not business casual -- for that i would probably go to banana republic or j. crew, i don't know)

have endless trouble finding pants that simultaneously fit (not too tight, not too loose) around the thighs, waist, and calves simultaneously, though.  good luck.

Light blue jeans + tshirt with no flashy shit on maybe just small logo = only "outfit" a man ever needs.
Clothes shopping/buying fancy clothes is esentially a feminine endeavor.

Best shorts are Golf shorts.  The new Nike, UA, Adidas ones are classy and made with a bit of spandex to stretch, are light, breathable and when you wear them you look like you have money.  Not some college student wearing cargo shorts.

Do you weight 150 pounds?  Express clothing is made for twink Asians.  Their extra large is like a medium of any other brand.  macy's had the best men's clothes hands down. They often have sales were you can get a lot of nice clothes for cheap.

Honestly, I like the American Eagle jeans that are normal. $30-40 bucks and high quality. Won't wear the shit with AE all over, , but the jeans are as nice as Express at about half the price. But like I said before, Dickies makes some cool looking stuff if the store is stocked right. Everything is about $20, love the shop shirts over thermals.

no, they just simply look gay, plain is better.
Hard as hell to find nice plain jeans nowadays have to spend half a day wading through the fag skinny/ pre ripped/ 5000 pockets on shit.

I have to agree with you here. Staying in a hick town for the past couple years. You are a fag if you take a shower and put some Old Spice under your pits.

And the sad thing is women get you into shit over it, because they like guys to be decently groomed and look halfway decent at least.

There is a lot of stuff I would never wear, but I would never call somebody gay just for wearing it. I swear there are so many latent homo's out there that act tough. The world seems to be obsessed with people being gay.

I'm with ya, pre-ripped/embroidered/patched jeans are faggy.

Just get a nice pair of dark, straight-fit jeans for $50-80.  Denim, like leather, is something where paying more is worth it.

I cringe at anyone older than 25 wearing true religion jeans

I certainly wouldn't pay for that shit, but who the fuck cares? Some people still have decent bodies, and can pull off wearing different shit. I love seeing some of these hot 40 year old MILF's wearing Abercrombie and shit.

Buying fake torn up shit is lame. That I give you, but I have a bunch of different brand jeans that have just worn in spots. Just threw a killer pair of worn in Levi's in the laundry basket, but the damn knee is getting worn to death, and they will probably be gone soon. I am not going to quit wearing them after breaking them in so long. Until it gets way stupid.

Speaking of jeans. Lucky Brand jeans makes several different fits and styles. Their classic fit jeans have plenty of leg and butt room while not being overly baggy. They are made sans the stupid rips and fake aging. You can find them at Nordstrom's or at Costco for about $36. I have several pair.

Polo Ralph Lauren is one of my favorites. As far as shorts go they have very nice and high quality flatfront shorts. Caros are horrendous man. Chaps also has nice shorts and pants. Another GREAT brand is Vineyard Vines. Both of these brands have tons of differently designed button down shirts, collared shirts, t shirts you name it. Also where I get most of my pants. A bit pricey but both very great brands. Just google them and its all good.

No, I do not weigh 150 pounds. However, you can buy their clothes bigger and they fit, unless you're a 280 pound beast, which I am sure you are.  ::) ::)

I am sure you're not that big to where you can't fit into an L or XL at Express.

Plus, clothes should not look like a dress on you. They should be a little snug. You're not wearing a moo-moo

Nah dude, spending money on denim is worth it.  Lasts forever, you can wear it more frequently, and there's a big difference in quality & fit.

In my opinion of course

Somewhere posted on Getbig someone suggested Calvin Kline T-shirts were gay (isn't everything sooner or later?), but I have a couple of them and the fit is excellent. There's just a little spandex mixed in with the cotton to help the shirt hold it's shape. They might not look so good on perma bulkers because they are cut a little narrower through the torso.

I never was big on the actual "Polo" style shirts, but you are right. I am actually wearing a very old pair of Polo shorts right now. Still awesome, but they are going to wear out soon too. Used to spend too much on clothes.

If you don't care about the bullshit logos and alleged prestige, Wal Mart and Target honestly have some some decent looking clothes pretty cheap.

Cheap shirts and sports pants from Primark or C&A, jeans from C&A or slightly more expensive brands, but only on sale... I'm still losing weight and don't want to spend too much money on clothes I can only wear for a short time.

Anything fancy, from socks to tailored jackets is all handmade by yours truly. (Yes, I knit my own socks!)
Problem is that most clothing from stores is both too feminine and not feminine enough. I really don't like that überfeminine look full of cute prints, frills and bows and other unnecessary attachments. Yet those same girly clothes don't fit my large bust, small waist and broad hips... :(

Someone should have told me a couple years ago not to buy new clothes until after I blew up a bit.  Bought a bunch of XL shirts and t-shirts and some loose fitting jeans.  None of them fit anymore.  Legs are too big for the jeans and the shirts make me look like a douche now.

I shop at JC Penney in their clearance racks for clothes, I buy my t-shirts and polos in the fall, sweaters and long sleeved shirts in the spring.  I prefer penney's because I can buy their gift cards online at ~25-30% discount.  This makes all my purchases there reasonable.  I'm not style driven with clothes, just want something that fits, lasts and is cheap.

I hate the new fad of making jeans tighter and thinner.  They fall apart in a few months and nothing fits right.  I miss the old levis silvertab baggy jeans.  I still have a pair I bought 13 years ago or so that are in decent shape, and they fit!

If I was to try to fit into today's relaxed jeans I'd have no choice but to go up a few sizes in the waist to get them to fit my legs.  I hate the feeling of a loose waist and tight legs in pants, drives me up the wall.
