Simple question. I seem to put all my focus in making sure I'm hitting each body part per workout (I do one muscle group a workout) and by the end of the workout last thing I want to do is abs! How do you guys approach abs? I.e., do something every morning, or after a workout, once a week, twice a week, etc.? Just curious.

I don't see any benefit unless someone has underdeveloped abs which is never the case....unless the person lacks muscle everywhere. In terms of injury prevention I think we get enough core exercise indirectly but I may be wrong.

I work one muscle group per workout for all the large muscle groups and for arms. Abs come in on deltoid day at the end of the workout. Once a week is enough to keep them tight. The rest is diet.

Nice - I need to keep telling myself it's more diet than anything else. Hah I found an 8-min ab video on youtube, i do first thing when i wake up...thanks it's more mental than anything else.

what's this thread doing in the gear section ???
and abs are just like any other muscle, if you train them with progressively heavier weights then they will get bigger and thicker

I like to throw in a bit at the end of my workouts.. hanging knee raise, machine crunch or crunches on the floor. I even started Messing around with the Rotary Torso machine... ;D
-
in my workouts? absolutely nothing. lol
however, I do probably 2-3 reps of about 5 different exercises as demonstration when I instruct bootcamps 6 days a week. lol

Prob belonged in the training section, but wanted to see what you guys in particular did. This thread has been helpful, thanks.

I do situps and leg raises once a week. They get enough direct work from all the cleans and squats i do. Also, overhead pressing works the shit out of them.

When I work abs I do one set of machine leg/knee raises doing 25 from each angle using 20 - 40 lbs. One set of 25 each side Nautilus torso (twists) using 70 lbs. and two sets of 25 Nautilus crunches @ 90 to 100 lbs. I work abs once a week like all other muscle groups with the exception of calves which I work twice a week.
