Report: Al Nusra Front Fighters Massacre Alawite Village, 22 Killed Including Women And Children
BEIRUT, Sept 12 (Reuters) – The death toll from an alleged massacre in an Alawite village in central Syria has risen to 22, including women, children and elderly men, a rights monitoring group said on Thursday.
The minority Alawite sect to which President Bashar al-Assad and most of Syria’s elite belong is an offshoot of Shi’ite Islam whose members have increasingly been targeted by radical fighters among the Sunni Muslim-dominated opposition in the 2-1/2-year revolt against Assad.
Fighters from the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front shot dead 16 Alawites and six Arab Bedouins on Tuesday after storming the village of Maksar al-Hesan, east of the city of Homs, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is opposed to Assad.
The British-based Observatory said the victims included seven women, three men over the age of 65, and four children under the age of 16, citing residents and medics.
Rami Abdelrahman, head of the Observatory, said the victims had been shot in their homes, and that they were not members of any pro-Assad militias. Activists in Homs had said on Wednesday that the dead were all from pro-government militias.
Al Qaeda-linked groups have launched an “Eye for an Eye” campaign, which they say is to take revenge for an apparent chemical weapons attack in rebel-held suburbs of Damascus in which of civilians died. The opposition and Western powers blame Assad’s forces for the strike.

But if the al-Qaeda campaign is really eye for eye, they would be using chemical weapons -- if, that is, chemical weapons were really used.

it's possible to be anti-assad and anti-rebels at the same time.
Really, I dont see why you're so black/white on this issue. Remove the WMD and maybe remove him - and install a puppet. Drop bombs on the rebels while we're in there.
I don't like either side. But I don't like WMD being used and causing refugee crisis either dude.

What's inaccurate about it? You're advocating the bombing of Assad. The only people who stand to gain from that are the very people responsible for the atrocities in the links. JAN is the strongest rebel faction. What do you think is going to happen?

brutal stuff to be sure but Assad Can't get a pass unless he gets the ball rolling on giving up his stash (the process to destroy the gas will take over a year they say)...
if I'm a civilian watching neighbors being shelled and gassed like they are, I'll say "all's fair in love and war" unless it's written in the geneva convention...
to the best of my knowledge there's no paragraphs pertaining to "lopping heads off" in said Geneva convention rules of war whereas Syria's Assad has been out of control from the very start...do some research.....all this shit started with peaceful protests !

The fact still remains that it is unknown who actually used chemical weapons....some evidence suggested the rebels detonated it. Either way, it is a no win for the US, and certainly a loss for Europe. Gas prices and commodities will only increase as the crisis continues.
Did you know that the lines are stretching for MILES at Swedish embassies throughout North Africa and the Middle East as Muslim savages apply for refugee status? Once granted this status(Sweden has granted all), your new neighbors will be freely able to move throughout Europe. Syria's crisis only exacorbates this.
