It's official ;D
AMC fix for 'Breaking Bad' addicts: 'Better Call Saul'
Los Angeles (CNN) -- "Breaking Bad" addicts who may suffer withdrawal when the AMC drama ends will get a comedic fix with a spinoff featuring criminal lawyer Saul Goodman.
The network announced a licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Television for a new series with the working title "Better Call Saul."
"Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White's lawyer," AMC and Sony said in a joint news release Wednesday.
Bob Odenkirk plays the flashy attorney Saul Goodman, who changed his professional name from Saul McGill so clients would think he was Jewish.
The title "criminal lawyer" has extra meaning for Goodman, who often used extra-legal means to help his clients, including "Breaking Bad" lead character Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who evolved into a meth manufacturer.
"Hi, I'm Saul Goodman," he says in one of his TV commercials. "Did you know you have rights? The Constitution says you do and so do I. I believe that until proven guilty, every man, woman and child in this country is innocent and that's why I fight for you, Albuquerque."
-
This spinoff will tank in the ratings after the initial pilot episode. Breaking Bad fans love Saul, but they love him in small manageable doses, not one hour of him.

I'm pretty sure they know that. But how cool would it be to tie in Tucco, Crazy 8 and those other fuckers.

they may be smart enough to limit him and show us some really creative characters. The people they've created on the show are some of the alltime greats. Gus probably could have had his own show lol. Gail was awesome too. Imagine them having free range to deliver any kind of criminals.
Or, maybe saul relocates after the heisenberg mess... him in LA or NYC or maybe they pick some obscure city nobody would suspect.
even heisenberg... a lot of the show doesn't show him. focusing on hank, jesse, drug side, lydia, etc.
-
How bout they just put all of their creative juices together and give us another season >:( >:( >:(

that would be too awesome.... can you imagine?
"due to the incredible audience response breaking bad will be back for one final season" :P

AMC is getting spin-off crazy. The network announced today that it is currently developing a "companion series" to The Walking Dead.
This follows the news that AMC is at work on a Breaking Bad spin-off ("Better Call Saul") now that the series is coming to an end.
The Walking Dead companion series has a target on-air date of 2015. (Can we make a suggestion? Do it as an anthology series...)
“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,” said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manager. “We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe,” said Kirkman. “The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”
-
I'd rather have one more Season of Breaking Bad than this spin-off with Saul, but it's better than nothing.

Absolutely! Can't see the Saul thing working out!

What's with all the negativity? Imagine if they showed us his link to Gustavo. And what abou Huel and Kuby. Would be awesome

Saul + Mike + The Gilligan/Gould team that delivered Breaking Bad...
This show WILL NOT TANK. Impossible.
Jonathan Banks Joins ‘Breaking Bad’ Prequel ‘Better Call Saul’
onathan Banks has joined Bob Odenkirk in “Better Call Saul,” AMC/Sony TV’s upcoming prequel to Emmy-winning “Breaking Bad” that focuses on Odenkirk’s criminal lawyer Saul Goodman, sources confirm to Variety.
Banks will be a series regular on the show, which is slated to premiere in November on AMC.
Conceived by “Breaking Bad’s” creator Vince Gilligan and writer-producer Peter Gould, “Better Call Saul” will chronicle the evolution of Saul before he became Walter White’s lawyer.
Banks was a regular on “Breaking Bad” and played Saul’s trusted private investigator/fixer Michael “Mike” Ehrmantraut. His casting means that Saul will have his helper back by his side.
Odenkirk and Banks are the only actors set for “Better Call Saul” so far.

Gus probably could have had his own show lol.
I think Gus was the best character in that entire series. Although every single character was practically amazing, Gus' character was downright brilliant.
If they bring in Gus, that show will flourish into something amazing.

I had my doubts about the show initially... while I thought the producer/writer combo was incredible, I feared it'd be Saul + a bunch of nobodies.... huell, etc, but nothing cool.
NOW... if you have Mike, then you probably have a young Gus on board before long. Everyone wants to be a part of it now. Mike alone could have his own Pre-BB show and it'd be incredible. Now we get to see Mike & saul coming up together, creating all sorts of "easter eggs" and storylines to wink at people who loved breaking bad.
Tons of possibilities just opened up... and I bet Jonathan Banks wouldn't have agreed to the show without 1) a big ass paycheck and 2) an epic script that'll keep his career on the rise.

This would be the worst thing.
-
I am very much looking forward to this - it's going to need quite a few episodes to bed in properly though. They would be mad not to include most of the characters from Breaking Bad at some point.
-
Give that furious, frustrated older wheelchair-bound bell-tapping guy his own show and network :D

oh yeah! They can show the old man and TUCO also!!!
maybe those 2 bald twin brothers can Hank ran over.
-
I just don't get why they are putting so much effort into this new show but couldn't figure out how to keep breaking bad going for another year or 2.
-
Just keep Jesse out of it. Bitch.
Skinny Pete and Badger would be alright though.

Jessie is too bald and fat to do it now. He looks like he's 40. No way he can be a teenager again.
Certainly, we can expect to see his whole crew though, even the fat kid that got shot. And they way they got so good at putting in funny items subtly... I bet we see Combo driving the RV with his grandmother in random scenes... Jesse's hooker friend Wendy showing up in BJ cameos... just so many possibilities.

Why?
-
Gus was awesome. So calm, collected, calculating, cold blooded. Unfortunately though, through his appearance in BB initially we got enough of his back story to know what is going to happen and where he originally came from.
However, I have to say that Marie was THE most annoying character in the whole damn show. I was hoping Walt would show up and rabbit punch her in the throat just for sheer principle.
Skylar was pretty damn nerve wracking too. I used to just fast forward through the parts with her and Marie in it.

the problem with this idea is Saul. Breaking Bad worked because it had believable characters that underwent personal transformations of moral rights and wrong. It was that process that intrigued people. Saul wasn't a character he was a caricature. From the sleazy office, tacky comb over, and bimbo assistant he was a walking cliché. A real weakness in a cast of excellently written characters.

you're right... but they do have a chance to completely develop him and show other sides of him.
We saw the side that he put on for the world - an obnoxious attorney. Maybe we'll see personal struggle, development, wins and losses... I don't know how I would do it, but I just KNOW that writing/producer team is just so smart at what they do... they'll do it, and it'll work.
-
Why?
The show ended fantastically. It was a story about Walter White becoming Heisenberg, Breaking Bad. It ran on its own terms and ended on its own terms. It doesn't need people shoehorning story in to a dead horse, ala Supernatural.
-
Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks have been joined by the first brand new cast member to the Breaking Bad universe in prequel series Better Call Saul. Michael McKean will be joining the show, Deadline reported yesterday, and he’ll be playing Dr. Thurber, an attorney who has “an unusual affliction.” We don’t know what that means, but we do know that McKean starred in a handful of X-Files episodes co-scripted by Vince Gilligan, who is the creator of Breaking Bad and co-creator (with Peter Gould) of Better Call Saul. McKean played a government operative named Morris Fletcher who ends up switching bodies with Fox Mulder in that show’s only comedic two-parter, so maybe Dr. Thurber’s strange affliction will be that he’s actually David Duchovny in disguise. Considering that both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul starred in X-Files episodes before being cast in Breaking Bad, maybe Gilligan will reach out to Tony Shalhoub, the man who starred in his first script for that show, to fill some other role in Better Call Saul. Michael McKean, of course, has starred in 50 million cool things beyond just The X-Files and Laverne & Shirley, but what you best know him for is probably This Is Spinal Tap, so just start quoting that movie in comments like you know you want to.

BETTER CALL SAUL Adds ORPHAN BLACK Actor and Two Others to its Cast
No, unfortunately Tatiana Maslany has not been cast to join AMC’s Better Call Saul (though we would not hate that in the least). But! There are three other names that have been added to the Bob Odenkirk dark dramedy, and one of them is a former Orphan Black cast member. Don’t you love it when things you love cross-pollinate? Showbiz, man! Michael Mando (better known as Vic to all you Clone Clubbers) is set to join the new series alongside two other new hires: Patrick Fabian and Rhea Seeborn. And so the Breaking Bad universe expands!
Joining the recently announced Michael McKean/Dr. Thurber (which we are very excited about), Mando, Seeborn, and Fabian are set to star in the series, filling previously announced roles. Clone Sarah Manning’s former drug dealer flame Vic will tackle a similarly bent role as Eddie, “a smart and calculating criminal who knows the ropes.”
Fabian — whom you may know from his stints on Big Love, The Newsroom, or the 2010 film The Last Exorcism — will man the role of Burt, a “Kennedy type” who’s “winning at life in addition to being a name partner at a firm.” Whitney and Franklin & Bash star Seehorn will fill the part of Beth, another successful lawyer at the firm that’s said to have her “already difficult life complicated by her romantic entanglements with somebody else at the firm.” So… do we think that somebody else is Goodman, Thurber, or Burt? Or… what if it was Mike Ehrmantraut (a.k.a. the confirmed to be returning Jonathan Banks)? There are so many options here.

Given the fact that Mike ended up stuffed in a barrel I don't think I would like to see him in this prequel.
-
Too late!!! The spinoff should have started before the end of the show
I loved it but now I'm ready for something new, not a spinoff with a minor character
-
I saw an interview with odenkirk and in it he said the show jumps around in time. Some of the show takes place after breaking bad. I'm not sure how that will work.

The Character is almost a moot point. You're watching because very talented people that have
a stellar track record are producing the show. This isnt some dumbass happy days spinoff. I would bet my hat that it goes in a completely original and unexpected direction.
Think Larry David. Seinfeld and then Curb

Hope so. Expectations are high.

If it's even in Seinfeld ballpark it's a work of art

DVR it. Gonna watch it tonight.

The Mike Ehrmantraut cameo was cheesy and ridiculous. A hitman working as a parking attendant? Yeah, ok.
I hope it doesn't drop a cheesebomb like this every episode.

Thanks for the reminder I completely forgot and missed it yesterday (getting old sucks)
"WOOOSSSHHHHH TUCO WAS A ROLLING STONE, WHEREVER HE LAID HIS HAT THAT WAS HIS HOME"

The first episode was really good, it doesn't feel like it needs to hold on to Breaking Bad for support.
-

mike was a philly cop that got into trouble. So maybe he limped to AZ or NM and got a job as an attendant right afterwards. Yes, he had brains and skills to be a hitman, but maybe they're showin us the link between PD and Gus' job.
i haven't seen #1 yet, just the preview, about to watch them both.
-
I just watched it, thought it was great. Not "mind blowing omg" great but good enough to keep me tuning in for another episode or two at least and doesn't just seem like a BB re-hash yet.
-
I thought the episode was great too. I watched it twice and I'm still a little confused. Can't wait for tonight's episode. I thought the part with Mike was funny, who cares if it's realistic it's just a TV show.
-
2 episodes in a row? ???
Anyway, at the beginning they showed Saul after the BB events, that was kinda cool, but the rest of the episode was kinda average, or maybe I had high expectations. I also think the Mike cameo was kinda cheesy. Again, I kinda feel awkward seeing all those BB characters that ended up... well you know how it went.
-
Tonight was much better and you can see the start of some of the Breaking Bad characters coming together.
-
Do not ruin it for me you fuckers.
-
Do not ruin it for me you fuckers.
It was *different*.
It didn't have the unique and amazingly creative/NEW angle of a Dexter or a Breaking Bad... those shows were new ideas.
This show is more "decent lawyer show absolutely LOADED with easter eggs for BB fans. I'll watch, but I'm able to go to fridge during show - Nobody can "get up" during breaking bad, and miss 3 minutes in the middle.
it's a little darker. it really keeps you guessing - you know the main characters won't die, but you have NO idea what will happen - they went to desert... the outcome could have gone lots of ways. Characters are nowhere near as deep or likeable as BB, but we may have thought that early on with that show too.
The ending was odd, a little anti-climatic, but leading to something. IMO, the show will be better than average but never ever come close to breaking bad levels. Still, better than some of the weaker shit on AMC.
(written very carefully with no spoilers!)

Do not ruin it for me you fuckers.
I think sometimes it's better to avoid reading about your favorite TV shows :D I got spoiled on how breaking bad ended when I was still watching season 1 on the internet. :'( The same for Silent Hill 2 for ps2, which I think it has one hell of a story.

I liked how they showed where he is now and went backwards from there. I think I would have rather have seen how he went forward with his life and not back.

intro was artful. sad, somber, deeper than BB at times. way less violent, way more realistic, i'd say.
can be a solid show. i'll watch but won't stress if i miss a week or two. Missing any BB episode not called "FLY" would be insane.

Well said about the intro 240. We are def on the same page about the show but it does make me miss BB. And I'm mad they killed me off lol!

seeing that BB marathon end today... wow, what a great show it was.
I like the imagery from this show. Seeing the tomatos getting cut up at start of episode 2 today... i actually started craving them, and ended up making a mac n cheeze/sliced tomato meal after the show haha. They have the skies, desert, vivid colors down to a science. It's like watching an episode of BB in the HD quality of the scenes. vince giligan doing his thing. Some really cute BB easter eggs... mentioning streets, casual mentions and cameos of characters we see later. Seeing them BEFORE they became total badasses lol... seeing the main bad guy, just KNOWING they must kill him off in a cool way in the future... the part with his brother drags on and could have been better, but I get it.
mmmm tomatoes. i got them nice and cold, sliced and diced, mixed with the mac. just incredible.
-
Ok I just watched both episodes. I enjoyed it.
-
I thought it was good as well..enjoyed it...the opening to the first episode was good....him working at Cinnabon...That takes place probably at the same time that Walter White was in hiding as well and dying from Cancer....
-
Saul is a character you can take in small doses but I was a little annoyed having to watch a full show about him.
-
Missing that catch that lured me into Breaking Bad. bringing back aging characters to play their younger selves is a big miss.
-

What the hell was that all about?

Off to a great start. Odenkirk is can't miss TV. Check out him as "Porno Gil" in Curb Your Enthusiasm. I think season 1, maybe season 2.
-
I watched the second episode just now, it was great. Better than the first imho.
-
I watched the second episode just now, it was great. Better than the first imho.
I expected the 1st to be off, the 2nd one shows me it is going to be great.
Odenkirk is like jeremy piven, very witty and natural.
-
yeah, odenkirk is solid.
he's not a "star" like a walter white or a kevin spacey - some people can just stare at the camera and pull emotions out of people. But he's solid, and to be honest, the story carries the show, not the actor.
episode 2 was good. not incredible, but solid. Better than 90% of the crap on tv today. Woul watch that over "killing" or "longmire" on AMC lol. you have to suspend belief a little, but still, interesting and gives SOMETHING for the BB fans that can't get enough. Even seeing an aging mike at the guard booth was better than anything NBC or ABC is playing tonight lol.

It's 2 episodes in.
-
yup, i really wanted to like it but i couldnt watch all episode 2, it was .. weak
-
I liked it, and of course it will get better. They need to tell the "build up" story first, which can sometimes be slow.
Gonna pick up now since he's tied in with Tuco and gang...
The desert scene was great, bargaining about the 2 twins "sentences"...1 broken leg each... :D
-
yeah, there was never a boring moment with walter white.
in ONE YEAR (or 18 months?, he went from chemistry teacher to blowing up Gus to running his own empire to getting caught.
(Do i have that timeline correct?) I know he celebrated his birthday on the day he does this big violent finale - was the entire show inside that 2 year window? that includes the time he was hiding in vermont.
-
So essentially this will all be about some heist to steal 1.5 mill. Kind of a weak entry to the life of crime. And the Chuck storyline? Really? Seems unnessecary. Strange setup.
-
very silly show
-
I liked it
-
Enjoyed the first 2 episodes. The story lines are building, Odenkirk carries the show nicely.

This show is finally starting to heat up ;D
-
Mike looks so old and frail yet this is supposed to be years before BB.
-
Imagine any Lawyer showing up to your house with a car only a Getbigger could love? His car is retarded. He's not that broke that he can't half way fake decent wheels. Maybe lease Vince G's jag or something...Didn't he just buy a few $1000 suits and a massive billboard?(which would be about 25 to 50k) Yet drives around in a $500 piece of shit a high school kid wouldn't drive...
-
Mike looks so old and frail yet this is supposed to be years before BB.
6 years before breaking bad
-
6 years before breaking bad
The only thing this old version of Mike would intimidate is a Depends diaper.
-
The show is definitely getting better now, especially with more of Mike's Philly cop back story. Will be interesting to see how James McGill becomes Saul Goodman and how Mike becomes strong arm for Fring.
-
yeah, the shooting back in philly... that scene and the buildup to it would have been classic breaking bad material, fit right in.
the weird thing is that outside of AGE, the show is way more realistic than BB.
I love the parts shown in the same alleys, buildings, deserts, roads we saw in breaking bad. When Saul and the black detective were sitting on the bench talking, with the Police most wanted list behind them - i was searchig for easter eggs but didn't see any.
-

They gave a hint when he was running a scam in college and the guy asked his name and he said It's all goodman Like Saul Goodman.
Basically James McGill is trying to fly straight, he realizes his shady antics is causing Chuck to stay ill. He wants his deep voiced blonde friend to go legit with him but he'll slide back into a sleezy hole and adopt his sleezy name soon.
To 240's point, I thought the same thing when they showed the mugshots. Was trying to catch any old BB characters
-
I admit that I was skeptical about this, but I am totally hooked now. The characters are so perfect. And Saul was one of the best characters in TV.

theyve shown saul to be witty and brilliant and hard working. he was a one-sided character on BB.
same with Mike... used to just be an effcient badass on BB, all the way to the end. Now we see what molded that, the helplessness and pain.
I'm sure it'll see a 2nd season.

It better. I want to see the 4-5 seaons and when the timeline overlapps with BB. I especially want to know how he found Huell. Would suck if Huell got his stomach stapled and is thin now

Yup, they added more colors to the caracters, especially Mike. Seeing a tough guy like that getting through so much makes him much more credible.
I'm hooked.
-
great show. all the way great show. Odenkirk is always cant miss tv.
-
Getting better for sure.
-
Awesome show...and its only going to get better.....I hope they show some shows out of sequence....for instance, I'd like to see more shows devoted to brief glimpses of what life is like in the present for Johnny (saul)...like the first episode when they showed him working at the Cinnabon..maybe at the end of all of this in season 5, he may wind up dead like Walter White.....or may even hook up with Jesse in the aftermath after Walter White's death

i think they want this show to be able to last 3-4-5 seasons. They'll flirt with it. They gave us tuco early, but now they can bring him in and out as they place. Same with Gus...
Also I bet they give us more cameos, get cute. Have a pre-BB Jesse walk thru a scene, bump into saul and tell him to piss off or something... the Mike storyline is almost more powerful than anything with Saul. Maybe "Saul" is just a vehicle for what is really the Mike Earmentraut show.
-
I will watch it tonight. Not sure how it will be but a bad lawyer seems like a fantastic idea.
-
Awesome show...and its only going to get better.....I hope they show some shows out of sequence....for instance, I'd like to see more shows devoted to brief glimpses of what life is like in the present for Johnny (saul)...like the first episode when they showed him working at the Cinnabon..maybe at the end of all of this in season 5, he may wind up dead like Walter White.....or may even hook up with Jesse in the aftermath after Walter White's death

Tucco seemed wayyy too forced too early.

Tucco seemed wayyy too forced too early.
I kinda agree with this.....but it was still good....I love how Tuco just takes absolute JOY in hurting people......he's a true psychopath....I also loved Jmmy's reaction of horror when he was watching Tuco break the bones of those two skateboarders
-
Tucco seemed wayyy too forced too early.
agreed. I think they needed something to draw in viewers that first weekend. Totally forced it. But they did the same on breaking bad... started obnoxiously fast, then slowed down bigtime during season 1. They didn't wanna get cancelled or terrible review or lose that viewing base by waiting 6 months for action.
-
Saul's crazy brother with his fucking emergency prep foil blanket story line is beyond boring to me, besides that everything else is rock solid
-
Saul's crazy brother with his fucking emergency prep foil blanket story line is beyond boring to me, besides that everything else is rock solid
I thought it was uncessary but realize this storyline is the essential link between Jimmy McGill the legit lawyer and Saul Goodman the crook. you can see that his brother gets more sick when he realizes Jimmy is up to no good. it's the only thing at this point in time from keeping him from breaking bad. yeah, I said it fuckers.
-
So now this show is Ally McBeal meets LA Law. Seriously, elderly abuse class action. Hit the fucking snooze alarm. Just skip this shit and show us sleazy Saul
-

I had a client very much like this. His “healthcare provider” convinced him that the Wifi signals from his Uverse modem was keeping him awake. He was my most difficult client so far.
My mother was crazy in a different way. I know therefore what it is to have a crazy relative who doesn’t listen to you, or let you have any control. It is incredibly stressful.
This character is to show how Saul is being stretched to the limit of what he can bear. He wanted just to be a conventional lawyer, but circumstances are not allowing him.

Again, he wanted to be a conventional corporate “Mit Romney” lawyer, but the cards he was dealt won’t allow it. He has to credibly move down the road to become Saul.
-
I love the show. Never know where each episode is going to go. The episode with Mike going back to Philly to avenge his sons death was definitely the best one.
Shades of Breaking Bad. There is definitely enough material to get 4 or 5 good seasons of the show.

I agree, it's moving to slow. I'm afraid sleazy Saul will not show up till the 2nd season.

Last episode finally showed some promise!
His brother is definitely doing a turn around.

Yep, I think they have filmed season 2 also.
I am glad its a 40 minute show.

think about the potentials now.
Mike is doing dirt now... they can invent any adventures for him.
Saul will have some legit lawyer success.
Saul's brother will recover and inevitably die at some point.
That blond chick will get fired, work with saul, have a love affair and breakup.
The myriad of bad guys from BB can come and go as needed. HANK can show up! fans woudl shit their pants if they crossed paths. hank's partner will probbaly show up first, I'd guess. Gomey.
Gus will be epic. Seeing Polls grow from 1 store to 14, seeing him buiild his network.
Brian Cranston is too much of an egomaniac not to do a cameo soon :)
Jesse too... his movie career sucks, get him in there, interacting with mike or something.
Those bald twins can visit with Tuco. the dealer tied to the pole that Walt choked out crazy 8.
And their braintrust had years to plan how they'd do it... there are going to be lots of easter eggs, I'm hoping.

You see it coming. Saul discovered this class action case. Knew he could settle easily for a couple million and make 50% for himself but his brother is going to push it to a bigger case, they'll eventually win and Saul is going to get fucked in the end.

Last weeks episode was pretty weak, but it got much better this week. Mike's character is evolving independently to Jimmys and the whole electromagnetism story line with his brother is finally moving along as it was getting tiresome. They need to start introducing some bad guys soon though.
-
This is a great show, much better than I was expecting.
-
WOW...nice episode concerning brother's jealousy and betrayal......Jimmy's brother obviously hates him secretly....that's gotta really hurt
-
The scene with Mike and the 2 others was great.
Chops the guy in his throat, takes all his guns away, chucks 'em in the trash.
Then that giant of a guy runs away thinking Mike's insane.
More Mike stuff like this and the series cant lose...

Yeah, the Mike Show, with Saul as a side story, would be just as good. That's essentially what we're getting. A good saul story, sprinkled with a fascinating Mike story.
Start throwing in Gus, show us how he wants to turn one restaurant into a meth empire... it'll get good. That Espinosito actor that does Gus... he was actually better in Revolultions when he got to show more sides of him. Will be cool to show him unsure, insecure, learning, on the way up.
-
The return of Gus will be interesting, so far he isn't listed for any upcoming episodes. The rough thing is that all the major breaking bad characters are starting to physically show their age, so it will be interesting to see how they handle it. Perhaps some more time lapse between seasons.

Agreed...the season sure went quick...sadly
-
Gus will probably be the end of season 2 leading into season 3. Saul is just not at the level yet where he'd get a client like Gus. He's going to have to start with the bottom feeders.

undercover jealousy......probably upset that mom and dad let ol' jimmy get away with murder growing up while he had to stay on the straight and narrow because he was the older brother who had to set an example. Then after all that hard work and having to stay disciplined, good ol Jimmy who spent his life partying and getting into trouble basically becomes your EQUAL......thats too much to take...I would be upset too .....but I wouldn't sabotage my own brother like that

You could see that coming with Chucks comments about how he was not a real attorney. Constantly taking shots at him with his abulance chasing practices.
-

I will say on teh brother's behalf that he knows Jimy better than anyone.....and maybe its best NOT to have Jimmy working with him at the same firm.....guys like jimmy get themselves into trouble and then guess who has to bail them out or go downhill with them>???....Chuck should have just been above-board with him
-

Not hate, Borderline Personality Disorder.

Family member saboteurs are heartbreaking when the victim finds out.

The parents are usually the fountain head of the sabotage/abuse. If a sibling takes part, they learned it from the parents.

Chuck was just jealous that anything he wanted he had to work his ass off to get and Jimmy just seems to stumble into things.

Agree and I also wonder why Jimmy would want to even be part of that firm with all the BS that goes along with it. He could take the money, do his own thing and get his 20% on the back end for doing nothing more than he has done.
-

He wants to work with his brother , who he truly looked up to and he craves the legitimacy that working with the firm would give him....I also think in Jimmy's mind it's also a way to say to Hamlin "you see?...I'm one of you and just as good as you"

i got a chuckle from the conning of the waitresse's pussy by saying he was Kevin Costner

I thought the finale was good. Certainly leaves me wanting more. Great show. Has a great chance to be the greatest spin-off show in TV history.

Watched every single episode , waiting for something to happen but it never does, it fucking sucks , I'm done.

From BCS subreddit:
If people found it underwhelming, you're not digging deep enough.
This was the breaking point of Jimmy turning to the darkside. Throughout this entire season, we saw him start as Slippin' Jimmy and work his way to becoming Jimmy McGill. To pay Chuck back for taking a chance on him. To make Chuck proud. To prove Hamlin wrong. To catch Kim's eye. To not become Marco on that barstool. To make something of himself.
But after finding out the reveal about Chuck...feeling lower than low...losing his case and worse, his own brother...it broke him down. He loses it with his amazing "Kitty Cat Notebooks for Everybody" monologue and goes back to his roots.
Here he revisits his Slippin' Jimmy and not 10 minutes in falls perfectly back in step with Marco. Skirting the law again. Hasn't missed a beat. Just as good as he always was....if not better. Marco and Jimmy in perfect harmony, making suckers out of 'em all. And then he loses Marco.
Chuck is gone. Marco is gone. Both sides of that coin...both of his brothers...for both there's now this emptiness.
But here comes Kim to save the day! There's hope! Everything might just turn out ok. In yet another brilliant piece of cinematography...we see a shot of Jimmy outside the courthouse...he stops dead in his tracks "Looking East." A perfect profile of what he'd look like on that Kennedy coin. A new dawn. JUST THEN....he feels Marco's pinky ring. A reminder that....ya know what?
He just had the best week of his life too.
Why fight this anymore? For who? Chuck? Kim? Hamlin? Maybe. But that rush...that feeling he had with Marco...
Why not both?
And thus, the seeds for Saul have been planted. It's not an ambiguous ending. It's the beginning of Saul Goodman.
I may be reading way too in to their cinematography (but to be fair...they're pretty deliberate with it.) The final shot is of Jimmy driving "west" if you will ...away from the promise of a new path at the courthouse. And we pan down to the exact middle of the road....
He may be straddling the line between Jimmy and Saul...but he's now on his way.
tl;dr - If you dig deeper, it's not an ambiguous / underwhelming ending. It's an emotionally powerful ballad on a Shakespearean level...and now I can't tell up from down because I think I may be starting to like Better Call Saul better than Breaking Bad.
-
good point,,,I think Jimmy finally put it together in his mind.....I'm not going to be a tight-ass like my brother and I'm not gonna be a loser like my friend who wound up dead in an alley while performing a scam.....however...I'm gonna embrace my true nature and run scams in my capacity as a lawyer....I'm not gonna be a small time hood like my friend....I'm gonna scam BIG
-
it's realistic.
in real life, when jimmy "breaks bad", it's going to be a moment at a funeral that changes his mind.
in tv life, it's walter white blowing shit up on the 2nd floor of Tuco's drug den, WAY over the top and highly entertaining.
so this show is way more realistic.
My biggest fear - not to be morbid - is that Jonathan Banks, the awesome actor that plays Mike, is going to get sick or pass away. He's 68 and IMO has aged terribly over the past 5 years (in real life). Watching the final last night, I wondered what happens if he gets sick/passes away. Do they replace him? just end the series? I'm sure he has the best healthcare in the world, but he just looks awful and i fear that could be the only thing to derail the show :(
I'm sure they can squeeze 3 to 4 seasons out of this show, and the show will get better even.
-
LoL, mike does have some funk looking scabs / sores all ove the upper chest area

there are shows when Odenkirk as Jimmy is absolutely riveting.....and then there are other shows when you wonder if he can carry the show himself.....I think the show goes 5 seasons.....and then they will do like they did with "bad"....break up the last season into two so they can milk it...
The writing is amazing and is the true star of the show

yeah, some weak moments. but there were times when walter white was less-than-enthralling, like when he tried to act like he was outright dumbfounded by a fly, or burning his own money in the grill.
I think as long as they keep giving up episodes of mike, gus, tuco, whoever... they can cover for the weak jimmy time. Mike wasting those 2 crooked cops was some of the best tv we've seen this year.
Plus, once he 'breaks bad' as they hinted, he'll get into prime Saul shape soon. Season 1 might be looked at as the slow one.

Thought the finale was one of the weaker episodes of the season, but still a great show would watch again.
-
I give it a C+ for what it is. Turned out to be too much like regular Law dramas. Not sure why they decided on the lesbian actress with the husky voice to be his love interest. I know they wanted to to show the progression or should I say regression from trying to be straight to how he became Saul, but it didn't need a full season or 8 episodes. They could have did it in 4 then spent time on his sleeziness instead of waiting until next season. Also hate how they showed him at cinnabun at the start but never visited the storyline again. Would love to see more before and after breaking bad shit. At times I found myself watching this while I was just bored. Overall it was just a forgetable season and new show.

I think it depends on whether or not Cranston and the rest want to do more in the future...If Byan Cranston is not doing anything a year or two from now, they may want to do some more...and "Look he wasn't really dead, you see..."
However if Bryan Cranston is not inclined..."He's dead..."

before he poisoned them , there was a flashback scene where him and his buddy went to scarface Manolo to talk business and Manolo had his partner shot in the head and Manolo told him the only reason he didn't kill him too is because of his connection in Chile
Also Hank did a background check on Gus in Chile and found nothing , so Gus Definitely has something in Chile the crew didn't want to reveal maybe to tie it up on this show

Max was the Cook and they were selling meth out of their store without the cartel don eladio approval

One of my favorite scenes was when Tuco and his men were beating up the skateboarders and the camera stayed on the reaction shot of Jimmy (saul) wincing and grimmacing as if he was feeling all the pain the skateboarders were getting....and his absolute look of horror in realizing that Tuco was crazy

I don't think Gus wanted to have power over the cartel in Chile. Wasn't he simply there to do business with them? And then they killed his brother as a show of force?

the show is great, very slow, but entertaining, like watch a Tarantino movie without all the action just dialog

The show was made to apppeal to people who like to pay attention to involving shows.
When ABC canceled "Police Squad...In Color!"...The reason given was, "You have to pay attention to it to appreciate it."

Really good 1st episode for the 2nd season.
Although I wish Mike would've had more airtime.

too Slow.
-
Haven't seen the episode yet, but some shows can actually be appreciated being a little slow. Rectify is a top show and doesn't get nearly enough credit. Compare it to others and it's glacial.

VG said they actually did film the pie video, it probably won't be released until the DVD set comes out though. Sad!

Appears the Twin Mexican Hitman brothers are showing up next week, of all the characters on Breaking Bad, those 2 were the worst pieces of shits in the entire almost perfect show
They made they appears super natural at times, others robotic as if they are T-1000 Cyborg terminators , it was just lame

Tucco is a senior citizen in this compared to breaking bad. He's all fat and bloated.

Los Pollos Hermanos From 'Breaking Bad' Is Coming to NYC
https://www.thrillist.com/eat/new-york/breaking-bad-los-pollos-hermanos-nyc-pop-up-store
If you binged all five seasons of Breaking Bad and kind of thought the food from Los Pollos Hermanos looked good, you're in luck: The fried chicken shack/drug front is popping up in NYC (presumably without the meth).
The pop-up is tied into the upcoming third season of Breaking Bad spinoff/prequel, Better Call Saul, which will reintroduce Los Pollos' owner (and Walter White's nemesis) Gustavo Fring.
Ahead of the show's April 10 premiere on AMC, the pop-up -- which has already hit Austin and LA -- will be stationed at 243 Pearl St, a Citizen’s Parking location in FiDi, from 11am-8pm on April 9, and 10am-to 8pm on April 10.
According to Eater, the other pop-ups have featured tacos, burritos, and burgers -- but strangely, no fried chicken. Seems like a case for Mike Ehrmantraut.

I hope they speed this shit up this season.

Gus shows up at some point, they promised.

With the entire black and white Cinnabon scenes , it almost seems like even Pinkman might make an appearance close to the end of the series

Kinda hoping they all do: Gus, Jesse, Walt, maybe Hank?

I really like "Better Call Saul".
There is too much time between the end of one season and the start of the next in today's shows.

Per wiki, sometime in 2020.
The breaks of more than a year between seasons are really annoying and detrimental to continued viewership.

What film comes out next month? I know nothing.
Peter Gould is writer and producer for both BB and BCS. Good writing makes the show.

Can you really call something a surprise if everyone expects it to happen? Don’t turn to Better Call Saul for answers, because the show won’t be giving us a chance to debate that philosophical question. The series has announced what every viewer has expected since the prequel series debuted. Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will return during Better Call Saul‘s final season.
