I had an arms workout yesterday using my hypertrophy protocol and today my arms are sore. What a great feeling after all these years. I started bodybuilding in 1958 but it doesn't seem so long ago.
My advice to everyone is to have a goal and make it happen. Drugs are NOT necessary.

Dead by 83.

Good going Vince!
Good that you're still happy at that age.
I won't be reaching 71 or even 61 that's for sure.
-
Happy birthday. I'm not part of the anti-Basile brigade. You deserve those blue stars you covet.
-
Even though you refuse to listen to my truths and call me nuts, Happy Birthday anyway Mr. Basile
-
Happy Birthday, you wrinkly ballbag.

Happy birthday to you, Vince.
What's this hypertrophy system you speak of?
-
It is great that you are still training at 71 with enthusiasm. Now clean up the diet to get rid of the flab and get in shape ;D
-
Happy birthday to you, Vince.
What's this hypertrophy system you speak of?
I can remember Vince talking about this on Ironage years ago. But unfortunately he never actually got to the point and used to frustrate one of the mods who was obviously waiting patiently for Vince to state his system clearly and simply.
Was the big arm experiment of a couple of years ago not supposed to prove Vince's hypertrophy system? Then on to other body parts ? How's that working out?
-
Congrats for not being dead yet.
-
Happy birthday you old cock head. May you have many more :)

Great post and Happy Birthday Vince. When bodybuilding is used correctly is can do amazing things for you. See Clarence Bass here in his 60's and 70's (75 in the last pic!!!) - http://www.cbass.com/PICTORAL.HTM#Still

Congrats, Vince, at 71, you stand alone. As you did when you competed.
-
He's the Macgyver of hypertrophy. If you gave Vince nothing more than a couple handles and some surgical tubing he'd create a resistance training system out of thin air. His mind works on another level.

Basile looking for Goodrum in the mountains of NC.

I was thinking the same thing. Perception is the key here. Vince's mind works in a way that all elements surrounding him are seen as possibilties to grow his arms 1/4 inch bigger.

Happy Birthday!! You guys have to give him props. He competed. Owned gyms and even built really sound engineered equipment by all accounts. Still lifting at 71 is fantastic. He has been around the bodybuilding scene forever.

seriously man i think its a gift to have you posting here even though you are wrong on everything. when will you wake up to the pitfalls of heme-iron birthday boy?
-
Many of the Flotsam are too dense to acknowledge the wisdom of guys who have paid their dues long ago. I have posted my theory about hypertrophy but the simple minded cannot fathom what to do!
I don't recommend the Olympus. The Sony NEX7 is a great little camera.

Happy Birthday Big Vince!!

At 71 I should be over the hill but thankfully I am not under it yet. I am holding up reasonably well and my health is fine. My fitness could be better. I do carry 20 or more Kg of camera gear up mountains so that is exercise.
I don't look like an old fart yet! Maybe having some safety fat helps me look younger?
The body starts to diminish in the sixties but my muscles still respond to hypertrophy training which pleases me. It takes a lot of will power to train legs. Doing arms is quite pleasant.

Right on, V. My old pops is mid 70s and still biking up mountains. The trick seems to be not sitting around watching The Price Is Right.
It's a shame your mind went so long ago. :( ;D
