Title: 2013 Olympia - Does conditioning look better on video than in pictures?
Post by: Mclovin on September 28, 2013, 07:08:05 PM
When I was watching the webcast last night and the guys were all posing individually (I fell asleep before the comparisons), almost all the competitors looked to be fairly dry and in pretty good shape. However, when I go back and look at the actual pictures, I can tell that a lot of them were not very well conditioned. Did anyone else notice the same thing? I guess maybe it is just because the pics are higher resolution. For example, I actually thought Cedric looked pretty good last night on the webcast, but today when I looked at the pics I was surprised to see how out of shape he was.

But is there a reason their conditioning looks better in video than in pictures? Or am I just imagining this?

Just weird that in the 80's and even up to Dorian Yates the top guys you could see how lean they were just from their ripped face. None of these guys have that severely ripped face. Another thing is their muscles look really smooth and have a bloat quality to them. I don't know if they are all taking the same drugs but something is really weird about the muscles of today's competitors.

Like when a stripper looks hot onstage under all that perfect lighting and then you see her offstage and it's nothing but smoke and mirrors, cellulite and acne!  :-\

I love strippers!

What I've noticed more than almost anything else is this.

Most of these guys can't pose.  They suck.

100% due to the pharmecutical IGF shortage.

Of course. Cedric looked like a melted ice pack.

Great frame and stature, but I think Cedric needs to up the dose.

There is a reason - because in video, you look at the competitor at his best, when he does the perfect pose. In pictures, depending on the photographer, some of them take 30 pics at a time.  Obviously, only about 5-6 of them are going to be good, the others are them getting into position, into the perfect pose.

With the Olympia, in the dire to be the first online, you get the good with the bad.  And many of the pics shown are just average instead of the best ones.

Hence, they they say you need to be there to judge correctly.

Cedric was not "out of shape" not bone dry ripped either.

Judging how lean a bodybuilder is by the face can be inaccurate. Troy Elves in 212 class had that extreme diet face but still was not tight enough in the glutes, wheras Eduardo Correa looked normal facially but was ripped to the bone inside out.

Wrong wrong wrong .
Then why eduardo corea  or Flex luiz or Iris Kyle look phenomenal?
Because they are simply in good condition. So, it doesnt matter if pic or video.
Thats Why photographer repeat taking same pose as you say.
Just most of them are in shitty condition now a day.
