I am finally back on two feet after my surgical reattachment of my Achilles' tendon. To quote Sev, "the results ain't pretty"
I am "fortunate" that my legs were shit before, so it sadly isn't that noticeable and I should be back "in shape" (LOL) soon.
I would post a pic, but I am not sure that my fragile ego could handle the "do you even lift?" type insults. Hell, Chadwick might come out of retirement to take a dump on me!

well, do you have a question?

I started 15-20 min on the stationary bike 3 times a week very very light and now I am getting ready to go swim (swim is a big word .. attempting to swim since I am no Michael Phelps that's for sure).

Just walking without a limp is a challenge at the moment, but I would like to be cleared for the rower soon. I think that I am going to take a page out of your book and start to listen to myself, rather than let a "one size fits all" plan dictate. My only concern is my lifelong propensity to overdo it.

You gotta be careful and use common sense. I do very little but my left calf and leg feels it afterwards .. I still walk with a limp very slow but without crutches. Gotta get back the range of motion now together with recovering the muscles of my left leg .. slowly, methodical ..

My PT is very conservative and she's adamant that I walk with a correct gait. It's hard to push off with no strength. I am at surgery +8 weeks. The standard protocol has the tendon "healed" at +12 weeks, so this is the slow, methodical strengthening phase. The only resistance that I am allowed to use besides walking is a light band.

If you do this on a regular bike, you are aware you could leave Romania?

PT's are always conservative.
I have a client who tore the tendon at the London Olympics stepping in a pothole (apparently socialists have worse roads than us).. got back to the US and had surgery, then followed everything to a "T".. super easy... then 60% of the tendon un-raveled from the screw and pulled back up his leg.. PT says he "overdid it" during rehab.. he didn't do shit during rehab! lol (this was before I started working with him)... he's a rich real-estate gay jew, so he's gonna sue the surgeron and pt. lol. (dude's gotta watch collection that brings a tear to my eye).... anyways, so now he has 60% of the tendon 'balled-up' about 4" above his ankle joint and is just waiting for the other 40% to either snap or un-ravel from the screw in his heal.
good luck! lol

well, he wasn't a 'bodybuilder' though... all he ever did before the tear was come in and get on the elipitical for an hour 5 days a week.... so having weak and brittle calves (dude's like 52 or so) didn't help.

Mine ruptured in the middle, so the fix was to suture it together and let nature take it's course. My understanding is that the ATR that comes off the bone is much more difficult to heal.
