We're jumping through our ass this week. We're down to 6 dudes out of 15...all senior folks. Our civilians who do all the 9 to 5 shit packed up and left and the building is empty. Parking spaces in our mamouth parking place are awsome. We pulled everybody back that was traveling. The gyms are open so thats something
Yeah I support the shutdown. Obamacare is a travesty and if this is all some kind of plot to deal with the debt ceiling shit...I'm all for that as well. I'm not happy that most of my folks are sitting at home right now, that I was at work till 8pm the past few nights etc, but whatever.

But you have stated that it is enormously bloated and corrupt. Which parts? Are some bloated but not corrupt? Are others lean but corrupt?

The funny thing is that you could cut alot out of the DOD without cutting the green suiters. We can cut our own grass. The kids are already getting paid, we were responsible for it in the 90's. Red cycle tasking ment that some unit was always pulling base maintenance. Mp's instead of contract security, we still have cooks..make them cook. That is something we're seeing, less civilains in the chow halls. Plus the military cooks seem to care more. The civilian work force is bloated, not just here but everywhere. Those people can get jobs elswhere, they're not stupid people. The issue is that the slots exist so they're going to be filled. My office should have much more military but we have a good cross section of civilians. Mine have specific jobs that they handle. I don't deal with that on a daily basis so I'm playing catch up or we've decided that it won;t be done till they come back. Wars, regardless of who's in charge bring bloat. The purse strings are loose and people spend. Every unit has unfilled positions everywhere. When things get fat, budgets are huge, we fill alot of nice to haves. Extra secretarial slots, cooks....personal security details, aides way down to bruigade level. Those things are going away now, along with the cash

The republicans are forcing the dems to admit that the government is wasteful. They're bringing up funding issues in pieces, determining their worth and funding thme piecemeal. This doesnt allow the dems to hide all the ridiculous studies, subsidies, programs etc that waste all our money. By repubs..I mean the tea partiers and those that have seen the light, not the Rino's
