I have been in the same boat. Not sure if it's healthy though, the third and forth ingredients looks a little suspect. Can't recall the name of them

LOT OF FLUFFERS HERE GETTING ALL TIED UP OVER LOCUST BEAN GUM,LOL.

Back in the 1980's the Barbarian Brothers always walked around drinking Carob Milk and for a few years it became the "secret" to getting huge.

It's a scam. They barely put any almonds in it.

I think they are just emulsifiers...

You deserve the be scammed if you're consuming it for the sole reason of ingesting a high dose of almonds, Johnny Falcon style.

almond 'milk' is the most empty substance you will find in a carton ever
it has no taste, its just crap

But if you restrict sugars from your diet and have less than 10% Bodyfat, it tastes delicious.

well if it does then you wouldnt notice the taste differance if you pissed in a gallon jug with water and with one protien scoop mixed in
-
I like rice milk but it has a lot of carbs.
-
Unsweetened almond milk with Optimum Nutrition Cookies and Cream protein powder is delicious.
-
There are 40 calories in 1 cup of Almond Milk.
Calorie breakdown: 74% fat, 13% carbs, 13% protein.
There is only about 1.5 g of protein in one cup of Almond milk. One would have to drink a shitload of this to get a noticeable amount of protein. There are 9 g of protein in low or non-fat cow's milk.
-

Exactly nothing but watered down milk and splash of Almond juice = useless.

I'm pretty sure we established that Chiro is not drinking it as an additional source or an alternative source of protein. It just helps him handle his cravings (and happens to be really fucking delicious).
Aside: I like to make my own almond milk and cashew milk. It's remarkably easy if you have a high powered blender, and has a super smooth taste. I like to get a little Martha-Stewarty from time to time. I use this recipe:

I've been drinking a shitload of unsweetened Sierra Nevada lately.
Mmm.

Quite pricey for what they deliver, but if it works for you, rock on.
Diet coke is my beverage of choice for cravings. Egg whites cooked with cinnamon and stevia for a solid meal.
Chiro, what's your diet look like? Give us some deets bro

I love diet coke as well but I'm trying to minimize my artificial sweetener use.
Diet is pretty boring and simple.
40/40/20 carbs/protein/fats. 250g protein & carbs.
The usual plethora of delicious extravagant diet choices like Salmon & Rice, steak and sweet potato, eggs and oats...each twice daily. No shakes at all just food....real ground breaking stuff.
This has me back down to high single digits where I'll just keep maintaining with a few big cheats every week.
Ive been reminded recently that when just "maintaining", you still have hunger pains and are hungry between meals >:(

A lot of people in this thread seeking magically large quantities of calories and sustenance in a half-gallon low cal beverage. It's not the purpose of almond milk bros.

it ends up being cheaper than the store bought version, and tastes better because there isn't anything in it that I didn't put in it. A touch of vanilla, cinnamon, and salt- BOOM! DREAM DRINK!
(I'm a dork. I will pretty much try to make ANYTHING on my own)

228 currently at 5'10. Leanest I've been at this weight bro
Contest diet is the same, but no cheats. I'm crushing 2 large pizzas a week right now. Keeps me lean but still making gains. Next show I may lower carbs even more if needed. Hard to predict because I've grown a lot since my last one. Either way I'm starting 16 weeks out so I can adjust accordingly. I like a moderate balanced approach with plenty of time for adjustments.

why's that bro?
Conflicting research on the matter. I'm still on the fence, I've seen damning evidence on both sides. But I'd like to minimize exposure to as many toxins as possible unless I find them truly necessary or worth the risk. Until I research further, my stance is: they may not be immediately bad for me, but are they GOOD for me?
Also, diet coke is extremely acidic. Trying to stay on the more alkaline side of the pH balance is hard enough on a bodybuilding diet.....adding a few can a day of diet coke isn't worth it to me in this regards. I'll still have prob one a week, just try to not make it a habit.
-
damn, i've been downing vitamin water zeroes like a guy
maybe it's time to put a hold on that course of action...

I've consumed a sickening amount in the 7 years I've been bodybuilding and competing. By all means I should have full blown Alzheimer's by age 30 if the theories are correct about aspartame. I just wonder what the effect of 20-30 years of continual consumption at this rate will do to me. Since I'm so on the fence still, I just had to ask myself "do I really need to taste something sweet or can I just suck it up and drink water?" Figure I better tone it back until I'm fully convinced of what the truth is behind sweeteners.
-

Fucking moron.
Look at the vitamins/minerals in this shit?! For 30 cals per cup its a powerhouse.
This is a superfood in terms of cal/serving and what you get in return.
-
Do you know what Almond milk is? When they harvest almonds, a lot are not suitable for consumption, they only choose the nice ones to package and sell, so all of the almonds that used to go to livestock feed now head to a big mill that presses out all of the liquid and then they add gum and cornstarch to thicken it and sell it as Almond Milk.

The shit is still very healthy for you. Check out the nutritional content on the label vs calories consumed.
I love this stuff! Especially while dieting.
-
Almond, Soy and Whey protein all mixed.... guzzle it out of the cartons EVERY day ALL day. I'm ripped to the bone, and yeah, I don't have a problem with pics, but then I'll get carried away and be posting all the time.
Organic Soy. No "estrogenic" B.S side effects except maybe the elimination of Prostate Cancer.
Great and Cheap combo for Protein and staying lean as fuck.
-
ALOT of future phd's and dr's in this thread great stuff. ;D...
-
Lol.
What does the research say about injecting your body with homemade compounds of questionable sterility originally formulated to inject in animals? Any potential long term risk or toxicity there? I would think diet soda to be the least of one's concerns.
You obviously haven't done much research.
-
Clearly, injecting homemade horse steroids is part of healthy lifestyle.
Clearly drinking diet coke is good for you too. Do you even bodybuild bro?
-
I don't know what I would call what I do these days, but suffice to say, I have been down your road.
There's nothing wrong with drinking diet soda in moderation.
Great thanks for your input 8)
-
You obviously haven't done much research.
Really? Ok, maybe like 250mg test is probably not bad, but anything beyond that is pushing it..... and any kind of other steroid or ancillary is totally out of the question.
Diet coke, yeah I wouldn't recommend drinking a lot of it but 1-2 servings a day is almost certainly safe. I try and limit it to just when i need one. Hundreds of millions of people consume artificial sweeteners everyday.... if it were so bad, then where are the bodies? I can certainly understand avoiding it though.
No stevia for you Chiro?

My points on this argument are:
Conflicting research on the matter. I'm still on the fence, I've seen damning evidence on both sides. Until I research further, my stance is: they may not be immediately bad for me, but are they GOOD for me?

As well as some unsettling info regarding who is performing the studies and possibility of unethical practices related to the testing.
I'm still not at a place to have a full blown debate yet. I still need to spend more time on the topic. I will say I had lunch with a neurosurgeon this summer and he saw me order the diet coke and we got into the topic. I know neurology VERY well, but this dude schools me still. He is vehemently opposed to sweeteners from a health standpoint.
Stevia seems to be pretty awesome though. Wish more places had it as an option 8)

Pure Poison.
-
A lot of artificially enhanced individuals discussing about artificially enhanced ingrediants in food/drinks.
Very true.
But seriously, we all know bodybuilding is not an inherently healthy endeavor. Why not try to minimize exposure to risks while still pursuing our goals. I believe this makes a difference. There is a threshold for what your body can tolerate and adapt to before the onset of dis-ease.

wide grip bench presses to the neck.
Yes more getbiggers need to perform this lift.
-
I bought tons of liver tabs back in the day based on Vince Gironda's recommendation in his MuscleMag column. I still have the book "Unleashing the Wild Physique" he wrote with Kennedy.
Liver tabs and wide grip bench presses to the neck.
not based on gironda book never read it.,but bench to the neck are good. i knew a pro from from south America he showed us this back in late 80's

Yes I have been advocating this exercise for some time around "these parts"
Have you considered trying heavy barbell benches to the throat?
