Hillary still the Democrat frontrunner. I'm not sure how much traction Paul will get at this point, but he's an interesting candidate. Not sure what to say about Fat Man at this point.
Poll: Paul, Christie Top List for 2016 New Hampshire GOP Primary
Friday, 25 Oct 2013
By Melanie Batley
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie have opened a significant lead on other potential GOP presidential candidates in New Hampshire, a new poll has found.
According to a WMUR Granite State Poll, 17 percent of Republicans would vote for Paul and 16 percent for Christie in the nation's first presidential primary.
They are well ahead of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan who scores 9 percent; former Florida governor Jeb Bush at 8; former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown at 7; Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 6; Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Pennsylvania Rep. Rick Santorum, both at 4; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 2 and Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 1 percent.
Three other potential candidates, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, New York Rep. Peter King and Ohio Sen. Rob Portman all registered below 1 percent.
Christie had led by five clear points over Paul the last time the poll was taken in July, but at that time fellow moderate Brown — who is considering a Senate run from New Hampshire — was not included on the list of potential candidates.
The poll also found that Paul has a 28 percent favorability rating among likely Republican voters in New Hampshire, while 26 percent view Christie favorably.
When asked who they would not vote for under any circumstances, New Hampshire Republicans name Cruz and Bush at the top each at 8 percent.
The poll conducted Oct. 7-16 also found that in a New Hampshire Democratic primary, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the clear favorite. A total of 64 percent of likely Democratic voters surveyed said they would vote for Clinton, and 84 percent have a favorable opinion of her.
Just 6 percent prefer Vice President Joe Biden who has a 23 percent favorability rating. Biden also topped the list of potential candidates that respondents said they would not vote for under any circumstances at 12 percent.
Others on the Democratic list were Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren who tied with Biden at 6 percent, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at 2 percent, and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick on 1 percent. A host of other potential Democratic candidates including former Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, New Jersey Senator-elect. Cory Booker, and New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand all scored less than 1 percent.
Candidates who are the early identified frontrunners have typically won past New Hampshire primaries, though voters in the Granite State tend to decide who they will vote for in the last weeks or days of the campaign.
The poll was conducted among 236 likely Republican voters and 252 likely Democrats.

Christie is no-BS, but he's terrible on the eyes and even against an old hilary, he looks awful. I don't think he can get past veep.
Rand is awesome... great look, great message, very well spoken and most importantly, he'll get most of the RON paul supporters - and they do the things like get the college kids excited, do all the grassroots things... that alone could turn an election. Rand can win, and win BIG.
Cruz is smart, and very popular with the base, but I almost see him as a santorum of 2016. Going out of his way to be over the top... Rand is playing within the rules... Cruz is shutting down congress.
So I still like Rand. But I don't know why nobody is talkin about Perry. I still think he LOOKS like the president, he's a strong happy reminder of Bush, he's likeable, he's been thru the wringer with his "uhhh" moment that he can laugh about it now.
I still think Perry wins the nomination, even if nobody in this poll is talking about him. These new young kids are nice and all, but Perry's run Texas successfully and now that he's been vetted nationally, and been thru the debates, he'll be a MUCH better candidate in 2016.
240's Prediction... Perry wins the nomination in 2016
I'll make it official now :)

Perry looks the part and is not nearly as dumb as he is made out to be...but he is not a good speaker and a terrible debater. This will trip him up again if he runs.
Christie is just another moderate who will get slaughtered.
Paul may be the best at this point, a strong conservative who has not yet burned any bridges, and he has the critically impotant ron paul factor, he will draw more independents and college kid types that any other repub candidate.
I'd love to see cruz take it and he may well, but he's got too many enemies for the time being
-
I have no idea who the frontrunner will be at this point. I'd like to see how Cruz, Rubio, and Jindal fare over the next couple years. We'll probably also see another candidate that isn't on the radar yet.

You must be high if you think Perry has a chance
His crash and burn in the last Republican primary and the crazy stuff he is doing in his state will prevent him from ever having a chance (not to mention the crash and burn he would likely do if he ran in 2016)
Christie is there best hope but Repubs are likely too stupid to make that happen
If Cruz tries to run he will make Rand Paul look like a reasonable moderate Republican
There are probably some Republican governors we are not even thinking about who might take a shot as well
-
I will only vote for either Rand Paul or Cruz.
I really don't wish any tragedy to befall on anyone. I really don't. Contrary to what I may have posted in the past.
But I wouldn't lose any sleep if Christie choked to death on a Jersey Mike's sub.

Perry is an idiot no doubt, mark that down we agree on something

Disagree... He had a vasectomy, which to me, tells me the dude is a long-term planner, a long-term guy. The kind you bet on.
yes, he was a mess in 2012, but he was coming off being governor, he was in over his head, it was a free for all.
He'd had 3-4 years to prepare now. He has had time to kick back in the pool, rest up, read up on NATIONAL issues, watch decades worth of debates, really learn.
IF he chose to use this time to prepare, he's going to be the Romney of 2012...the elder experienced one in the room.
I like rand a lot. Cruz is solid. But Perry is a grownup and looks like the president. that goes a VERYYYYY long way. And he's not stupid. He did have a little to drink before that one speech, but that kinda recklessness is actually a GOOD thing at times. He'll be under control while in office, he's not gonna be drinking while in office lol... but people will like him. I think he'll win it, to be honest.

1.what 'crazy stuff' has perry done in texas?
2. Why do you libs continue to insist christie is the best choice, when the last 2 moderates were slaughtered? (Maybe that's why)

What is more "looney" is people who walk on this planet insisting that the unborn should not have the same opportunity to life.
I always say that if they are so concerned about over population they can set the example by starting with themselves.
Let's save the trees and the planet, but lets abort another 60 million fetuses. Liberal idealogy has the same scent as my diarrhea filled toilet.

Dems would LOVE it if hilary had to face Christie in 2016.
Why? Cause he looks terrible, and their positions are pretty close to one another.
Rand vs Hilary, oh everyone will KNOW the differences there.

Rand Paul does have a lot of the intangibles. Things can change over the course of 3 years but I would put him right at the very top of contenders for the presidency, no question about it.

I pray to the baby jesus you guys are stupid enough to nominate Cruz or Paul
Christie would be YOUR best choice
Cruz or Paul would be OUR best choice (i.e. best choice for Dems to retain the POTUS)
I don't have time to now to get into all of Perry's nuttiness

Total BS.
Christie another RINO. He is not a true conservative. He is another Romney but with less money.

Fuckin Chris Christie... ::)
