even on roids you shouldnt eat too much unless you want to be a fat cunt?
just train hard, shoot roids and get a lot of protein in
?
-
Any Principle Johnny Falcone writes, I follow and implement.
Wouldn't agree on "Eat Big to Get Big" though.
Look at Go4It.
-
everybody eats way to many cals.
your body will more effciently use the cals you give them if you eat considerably less, rather than considerably more.
thats why you dont see many impressive physiques walking around off season- everyones been drinking the kooliad supplement companies have been selling for decades regarding the amounts of cals you need to grow lean tissue, and protein requirements.

eh... protein has kcals as well.
you take in 500g protein/day, that's 2000kcals right there.
and how much is 'too much'?
every body is different. even your own body won't always respond the same each time.
and.... well.... wait..... eat big to get big is a joke?????? do you seriously have any idea what kind of FOOD INTAKE is required to "get big"?????? what is considered "big"??? on a small frame, 250 requires me to stuff my fucking face till i'm sick ALLLLL day long..... have you ever seen a "big guy" 270-310 ever WITHOUT a bowl of food? fuck no...
this is complete bullshit.
if you believe you can eat like a normal person and be "big"... that all you gotta do is workout and shoot roids, then have fun being no more than 10-15lbs heavier than the average guy in the supermarket, because that's all you'll ever be.
-
Your body fat rate should be your guideline, keep it 8-10%
-
You do need to eat big, but some guys do over do it and eat shitty food, then they wonder why they're so fat.

Hey. No need to get personal bro.

actually, no its not.
more food doesnt equal better gains in terms of lean tissue accumulation.

this is an age old debate, and there doesn't seem to be any wide agreement
on the one hand you have guys like zack khan saying he only eats 4500 calories a day in full off-season, inhuman 300+ lbs mode
on the other you have go 4 it, who eats 4500 calories for breakfast while being 150 lbs after taking a dunk in the aft pool

True. But I believe this guy is going for records so he actually has an excuse. He carries a lot of mass under that fat.
Here is a year ago when he was leaner. Sorry for the homo.

yes but whats your point, this is not answering any questions for bodybuilders
we all know eating a lot makes you fat and strong
but the question is what is the merit of doing so for bodybuilders
i think there isnt any

Well the obvious answer is it depends on the person and their metabolism. Some people do need to eat big to get big.
But you're talking about how to bulk. Lean bulk vs moderate bulk vs going ham like lee priest in the off season.
Yes getting fat in bodybuilding is stupid. But of course you have to bump up your calories if you want to put on mass.

no one has ever been an advanced weight without eating advanced cals, end of discussion....

who the fuck say it equals "better gains"????
you want to grow? eat more than you burn...

good luck.

look at tbombz and that will answer your question. A guy who shoots tons of drugs who never really grows cause #1 he doesn't eat right, and #2 he doesn't know how to train right.Shoot all the drugs you want, you will never ever look like a bb unless you eat , and eat right.
-

It does depend on the person, but you must eat quite a bit.
If I had to cover for somebody at the front desk, I would just order pizzas and shit.
I did get big enough that going upstairs to fix tanning beds and shit would wind me at times.
If you aren't competing it is much cheaper and quicker to throw some junk in.
I don't ever really get fat though. Some people just blow up in a bad way.

zack khan keeping a monster weight at 4500kcal he said
antoine about 4000kcal he said
so why would a 200lbs dude like me who wants to get big need 4000-5000kcal or even more as often recommended?
the whole story is a mess

Who here is saying you need 4000-5000kcal or more?
Simply eat above maintenance. I'd start off with 100-500kcals more per day depending on your metabolism. Monitor your weight gain and adjust to your liking or needs.

"eat big" implies a ton of calories even in the 6000 range

Well you have to exercise a bit of common sense and try to grasp the reality in the rhetoric.

Exactly! Why does this logic rule needs to be discussed over and over again?
Successful bodybuilding = applying common sense & discipline.
-
you do have to eat plenty.
but it has to be the proper stuff and just the right amount.
not as much mcdonalds buffet as fits in your fatso face.
the bad and useless calories only take up to much space and time for disgestion and then you cant fill up on the proper food anymore and then ppl wonder why the only thing they gain is fat, water, bloof, double chins and acne, accusing the ones with clean diet of mega dosing and whatnot.
some fool thought can eat what the fuck ever they feel like any given day ,all the time to grow muscle and be lean?carry on, it will never happen.

Mike Liberatore and Vince Taylor are two guys who say they don't (didn't) eat much in the offseason. I think Vince said one real meal a day in fact. I've always wanted to ask them about this.
-
a 5'10" 300lbs 30 year old male at 10% body fat who works out 3 times a week has a maintainance calorie need of 4000 calories per day according to this online calorie calculator http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm (http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm).
So would that mean that if you ate 4000 calories per day, over time your body weight will slowly move toward 300lbs?
A 250lbs guy with same stats needs 3500 calories. 200 lbs needs 3000 calories.
mine is 2745
i maintain at about 3000 so not a bad calculator

It's true but there's a limit. Too much nonsense on other boards preaching overeating and people end up getting fat
Also, a HUGE factor people don't want to mention for some reason is the fact that people with high metabolisms that are induced with drugs like tren have to eat more to grow. Bigger people with higher metabolisms need to eat more than smaller people not on a drug like tren for instance.

But you can't shoot 500mg a week and eat a ton of food expecting to keep growing muscle indefinitely. You're limited a lot more in your dose as long as you're eating sufficient amount of food, which will be different from one person to the next. That goes for gear too cause not everyone needs the same amounts but one thing for sure is that it takes time. An increase in food and gear gradually when you're no longer growing makes the most sense. It would be easier if more gear would automatically result in a bigger appetite but its not always the case. Its just something to always keep track of...am I taking enough gear and eating enough to grow?

He's quite the bbing philosopher, you gotta give him that ;D
-
You do need to eat big to get big, but there comes a point of diminishing returns. I've eaten 5000 calories a day in the past but all it did was make me fat. And when you get fat it's a double-edged sword because with more fat deposits comes increased cortisol and estrogen production and thus a suppression of testosterone.
So what you need to do is eat just enough to be putting on about 2-3 lbs per month. I started this year in January weighing 210 lbs and this morning I was 229lbs. That's a gain of 19lbs in the space of 10 months, or nearly 2lbs a month. I'm bigger, leaner, and stronger as a result. Put it this way, at the beginning of the year I couldn't see my abs, now I can.
I'm eating 3,500 calories a day BTW.
-
I agree.. another bb myth .. eating clean and smart with quality hormones is much smarter

oh fuck how can one believe in calculators ::) ::)
your calculator is built in to the body.
its called hunger.
try it, if youre hungry between meals, you lose weight.
if youre not , you gain weight.
lol at calculators, selectively trying to have an excuse to eat so much calories.
the calculator doesnt know your activity levels, and it dont even wrok like that in the first place.
even the govt recommendents for calories are off, do ppl even know where those come from?the 2000cals a day for women and 2500cals a day for men?
any idea where those ridiculous claims come from? ::)
haha give a woman 2000cals a day ,who doesnt work out and has sitting job and see the hippo in the making

eating big meal of peace ::)

Agreed. The calculator for me is wayyyyy off. I can eat 600 more calories than it says to for a cut and lose weight.

you have to take into account what you do for a living
are you a scaffholder working 12 hr shifts and training every day, or are you an office worker who trains 3 days a week

spot on
this whole dinosaur mentality needs to die.
if every guy posting in this thread who says you need to eat big to get big posted a pic of what they looked like at this very moment would get laughed off the board.
big doesnt mean fat. big means lean tissue. too many permabulkers in here giving very outdated shitty advice.

From an interview with David Robson:
DR: How has your diet evolved over the years?
VT: I will always have my Coca Cola. Right now it gets blended with a little scotch most of the time, and I have my beer. My diet has always been relaxed. It has never been one of those strict diets. I always try to maintain at least three meals a day, sometimes this is very hard. Sometimes it is one or two. This time around I have bumped it to five meals by adding two shakes to my diet. But overall I'm not a big food consumer, never have been, never would be. So nothing has really changed there.
DR: That is a very unorthodox approach. What is the composition of your diet?
VT: High protein. High carbohydrates I have very seldom, especially now I have been training hard for the last seven months or so. My carb intake has always been low. I don't like breads and don't eat a lot of potatoes and white rice. You won't find my type of eating habits in home. My eating habits are more Burger King burgers - I do this often. My main meal is breakfast, which is bacon, eggs, ketchup.
DR: Three meals a day seems inconceivable for a top tier bodybuilder like yourself?
VT: About three usually. It might be down to two depending on if I eat or skip breakfast. I'm out the door to the gym. Come home and have a meal between 12 and one. Back to the gym at five, come home and have something to eat, and have my scotch. All of a sudden you have only had two or three meals for the day. I'm used to that. I can go all day with only one meal.

lean tissue is built in a calorie surplus.. i dont agree with blowing up 4 or 5 stone past a contest weight anymore, but if you want to progress and not just look good( but stay the same ) you need to eat more, train harder, take more drugs
im not out to grow anymore, i eat clean and maintain visible abbs all year round this all depends in what stage of life your in

how can someone calculate his food intake everyday years at a time without ending up in a lunatic asylum?
i mean i did this when i was 16, weighing pieces of food with a micro scale
calculating calories in the correct carbs to protein ratios etc and it nearly drove to clinical madness

5 or so years ago we didnt know how good we had it in terms of food cost. Now a medium chicken is over £5 when just a few years ago the local butcher did 3 for £5.

Yes if you want to get fat and lose muscle later eat all you want.
-
if you're eating lean beef & potatoes and your greens...
it's just about impossible to eat too much, IMO. Yes, if eating Subway and chik parm and milkshakes, can get fat fast.
But if ya choose the right kinds of foods... I think one gets full before he gets fat.
