Title: question about chiropractors
Post by: El Diablo Blanco on October 28, 2013, 09:34:01 AM
My health Insurance covers 20 visits per year.  I've never been to one.  lately my neck has been hurting, but not the spine but more like below my traps. Just a constant nagging pain that hasn't gone away.  Anyone ever been to a chiro and do you think they can help rid this pain?

There are probably over 150 different chiropractic modalities and all chiros have their own "specialties".  It might be hard to find the right one for you who doesn't want to just bill out those 20 sessions.  Maybe get a massage first and start asking around.

Chiros are good.  The best however are Chiros that are also Active Release Therapists.   Find one and hold onto to them for life.

I have a masseuse but fortunately her massages suck so we just have sex.

Will post later when I have more time but this is excellent advice especially when the patient is an athlete/lifter. Call around and ask who is certified in A.R.T.

I decided to become a chiropractor after my first visit when I was 19yo and the doc saved me from a terrible injury that was preventing me from training. I never would have reached my full potential of doing thong battle on stage without my DC.

Can a chiropractor get me some extra mileage before having to pull the trigger and undergo shoulder arthroscopic surgery to repair an anterior labral tear?

OMR my friend,

I too have a SLAP lesion and am holding off on surgery. I get my shoulder adjusted weekly which helps quite a bit. You'll see a lot of anterior translation with this injury, adjustments can help set the humeral head back into proper position in the glenoid fossa. Post adjustment, I have virtually no crepitus/pain. I also get ART done weekly which helps with proper stabilization....this is a big problem for me; due to the injury I have massive over-facilitation issues on the affected side.

Is this a better route than surgery? That's debate able, but if I can personally delay the ineveitable and keep lifting/functioning at 90%, I'm satisfied with that. Best of luck bro.

I'm putting it off as long as I can. A friend of mine that has a SLAP tear has had his shoulder dislocated a few times and that looks and sounds extremely painful.

Although that's never happened to me, just the thought of it makes me wonder whether surgery would be the best choice to put this to rest once and for all.

Your neck and back will feel better for sure...

But...

You'll still be as racist piece of shit.

Hope this helps.

Are you suggesting we contact Tbombz for a massage?

Ive had very good experience with Chiro's.

I had horrible headaches and shooting pains in my back, turns out I had a rib popped out, my hip was popped out, and my neck was fucked up. 3 visits later and I felt fantastic. Still go a couple times a year when I tweak something from work or lifting, and he fixes me up almost every time.

I think it's important to do your research on your chiro beforehand.

Good at releasing pressure buildup from co2 which can irritate nerves. I wouldn't have been able to play football without the chiro techniques which our trainer used.

Excellent brother.

I always tell people, there are some god awful docs out there: dentists, MDs, PTs, DCs,.... Do your research when choosing your health care provider and get referred from somebody you trust.

If anybody still needs a good referral, PM me what state city you're in. My fraternity has alumni in nearly every state; all excellent docs.

Not this again.  :)

Chiro changed my life from avoiding back surgery back in the 80s for two herniated discs. I then changed my major In college n became a Chiro. Good ones n bad ones for sure just like anything else. Ask around for a referral to a good one from friends or gym buddies.
