Does anyone have any pictures of this $470,000 house???
-
yeah, lets critique the decor
-
One of the video clips showed it-attractive & large 2 story. A serious home gym was shown during Vince Neil's workouts as part of the VH1 makeover series.
A tour of the house includes a visit to their newly built home-gym, which spans 400 square feet and includes an impressive collection of cutting edge workout equipment. Each machine was engineered for Craig and Kelly to include customized grips and colors that are unavailable on the mass market.
Just behind the gym is a pool and Jacuzzi. Craig was quick to point out that his perimeter wall ensures complete privacy for those late-night dips in the Jacuzzi, a healthy reminder that bodybuilding does take a back seat to certain things.
Next, we arrived at the couple's designated home office, a room that Craig and Kelly take nearly as seriously as they do the gym. This is where photos are distributed, endorsement contracts are negotiated, fan mail is read and new opportunities are evaluated. Craig explains, "Bodybuilding presents a very short window of opportunity. It's extremely important to set up for life-after and to ensure our future."

You would be surprised. One thing I found surprising about some of the nice neighborhoods in Vegas was the number of "homeys" who were just hanging out on the street. Maybe it's just an urban legend, but I was told that the reason for this is that a lot of the hip-hop stars will buy houses for their "posses" and just let these yokels live there rent-free.

Onlyme -
*instant classic*, my friend. ;D
-
Agreed. $400,000-$500,000 is not that much to spend on a house. Considering that they once were a "very successful" bodybuilding couple that house is nothing to brag about. I bet that most of their neighbors are just normal working class people.
-
You guys are forgetting they did not buy the house for that amount. It was inthe low $200,000 range. It is what it is appraised at now. Nothing at all special about that house. Just a typical tract home in a nice neighborhood. Actually very boring looking to me. Very boxy and plain. They defintiely didn't have much for designing.

They're in a pretty good neighborhood and MOST people are working class...but most people don't own half-million-dollar homes.
No, they're not wealthy enough not to ever have to work again, but they have done well for themselves and acquired some assets.

I agree they have done well for themselves, but all in all, financially speaking, they could not keep that lifestyle in other parts of the US. Such as CA. In the bay area $500,000 is a very, very modest home. Most modern townhomes can sell close to that. I guess what i am saying is they were far from rich. Suprising seeing all the publicity they used to get.
-
In photo #15 (L-R, T-B) you can see a crack pipe on the table. It's either that or a Pez dispenser.
-
this guy
has had the same tv and tv stand I bought at walmart 4 years ago in college HAHAHAHA
-
If I remeber correctly they had four or three houses in Las Vegas.
So comparing to other pros, they were definitely doing well.
-
A better TV would've looked better some have different priorities.
Looks like he was busy bangin' & workin' out along with the jacuzzi.. :o
-
Plus can't have the latest TV's etc. with all the "supplements" for both of them pre-contest.

You're being polite, so I won't say "no shit" ;), but if you're talking about NoCal or SoCal, then you're talking about numbers that are considered "ridiculous" by the average American. It's an honest perspective (because you live there), but it's not a normal perspective, when you look at median home prices across the U.S. You guys actually have townhomes selling in the $800,000+ range on a regular basis, which we're starting to get down here in LA, too. But those prices are unique to America's great cities, plus California - SF, LA, San Diego, Chicago, NYC, Boston, Philly, and DC. Seattle is starting to get high, but still nothing like the others. Miami is on that level, too. Go to Portland, Dallas, Houston, St Louis, Charlotte, Atlanta, Phoenix, Vegas, however, and the numbers are completely different.
I recently looked at a little 3-BR, 2-BA, 1300 sf starter (built in 1978) out here in Ventura County. The seller is determined to get $605,000 for it and $550,000 was out of the question. By contrast, when I was home shopping in Raleigh (NC) back in November, and found a newly-built, 4700 sf dream for just over $500,000 all closing costs included.
I don't know what Craig & Kelly's rental properties are like, but the fact that they were working on building equity in 5 (or possibly more) homes says a lot about them. They could've continued living comfortably in Vegas or they could've cashed out and moved to a small town in middle America and lived like royalty. All other issues aside, I give them credit for buying their home and some rental properties.
-

Publicity has never paid a single bill. A lot of the youngsters in the sport just don't get that. In fact, there are some veterans who still believe that publicity = $$$. The only one getting paid on that publicity are the magazines and the photographers.
-

Duh! You've just provided a compelling reason to live elsewhere. Others can pay huge sums for the privilege of living in SoCal.
I like their house; nice size and tasteful.

did kelly come with resources to build this equity faster? i ask this because if craig was too lazy to bury the body i doubt he was doing sweat equity in empire building

you got that right.
the only thing notoriety/publicity/reputation does is get you about 2 seconds notice when you do bring a proposition to the table. However, if you can't bring value, you have to kick rocks with the rest of the unknowns.

Good point. Seeing that Craig and Kelly were on/in numerous magazines and covers, with several "good" sponsors over their careers, goes to show that there really is no money in this sport. Any other sport with that kind of sponsorship would be much more lucrative. I can almost guarantee that the new up a coming UFC guys with sponsorship form companies like Zyience, etc. are making more than most bodybuilders. It must really be depressing for these BB's that are seriously thinking this sport is going to take care of them.

Yes CA is ridiculous in price, but I feel there is a lot more opportunity here as far as business and employment go. Is it worth the price? I don't know, but hey can't beat the weather ;)

That's only true if you are in (or "wanna be" in) the entertainment industry. There are many lower-priced cities that have business enviornments and opportunities as good or better than Cali.

with many businesses, you can do as much from a laptop in Missouri as you can from a tall building in NY.
and the peace of mind and lack of commute will likely improve your work performance.

Tre I also live in Ventura County and I agree, it is absolutely insane. I just split up with my girlfriend, but together we would have made about $140k this 2006 and still we were thinking it would be tough for us to buy a nice house. Personally, I don't think the market will slump out here either because its such a nice area. Heck, Townhomes up here in Ojai are over a million for something really nice.
That and the fact this area is infested with gang members, drug trafficers, and pockets of near indiginent social circles that need the government to survive...the worst public schools (test wise) in the United States, impassible issues in the State Senate, strictest gun control in the nation (haha)...horrible future job outlook for working class people, earthquakes, illegal immigration, it is a wonder anyone would want to live here !!!

Big Alski,
So if together with your ex-girlfriend, you would have made about 140K last year, can we assume that your ex-girlfriend made about 138K a year? And why does Ron pay you 2K to post on Getbig?

That really is just the typical stereotype of CA. True, there are possible business opportunities everywhere, but there are always businesses and people with money to spend in CA. Just look at the amount of new homes being built. Even though they may seem out of sight in price, people are buying them.
-
No, I would have made 52 next year and she would have made 88. I am on vacation, that's why I am posting here. And you comment was unwanted, please dont comment about me something you don't know.

Wow! Your ex makes 88K/year! Can I have her number because doing the math, I think if I hook up with her, I won't need to work at all.

NYC (most notably Manhattan) is on a whole different level of painful real estate prices. Townhouses can cost up to 50 mil.

Neve,
You've made some interesting posts that made me think you have some unique insight, but with that last post, you've lost all credibility. No supplement company would pay a MMA fighter anything close to a million bucks to endorse their product. I think even six figures is a stretch. After all, why would Chuck Lidell's lack of a physique inspire ANYONE to use XYIENCE?

I don't think Xyience is paying millions, but you can be pretty sure he is making at least six. Chuck Liddell is reported to have made $2.7 million in fights and endorsements in '05. He only had a couple of fights and the Ultimate Fighter show. It is obvious he is making good money form some of his endorsements.

Ok...go ahead and take a seat and shut your mouth while I quickly school you on a few things......
1. Did you read my post? or maybe you had forgot what it said by the time you finished reading it. I said Chuck Liddell is reported to have made $2.7 million in fights and endorsements in '05.
2. Thanks for validating my point further. Seeing that he really didn't make that much fighting would generally mean he is making quite a bit in endorsements? Agreed?
3. You would have to agree that you were wrong stating that it would be unbelievable for him to be making six figures from Zyience. I will agree seven figures is most likely a little hard to believe.
4. Please realize that I would not post B.S. off the top of my head. Remember I am the teacher you are the student. Please Read:
UFC headliners such as Arlovski, Chuck Liddell, and Randy Couture have become breakout stars. Liddell will earn $2.7 million this year including endorsements, according to White's calculation. Mainstream media outlets are paying attention as well. White recently appeared on "Dr. Phil," hard on the heels of a Time magazine feature on ultimate fighting.

Yeah, and you believe in the tooth ferry I suppose.
Joe Rogan made the comment at UFC 54, "there is a ton of pressure on the fight w/ Jeremy Horn for Liddel, due to the fact that ZYIENCE is paying chuck 1 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR"
Why would Rogan make this up, and millions of 16-35 year olds that watch UFC shows, will buy the stuff BECUASE CHUCK USES IT........It's like Triple-H w/ BSN.

Isn't Joe Rogan a comedian?
It's called hype. There is no way Zyience can afford to pay this guy that kind of money. They probably don't even sell a million dollars worth of product in one year.
You are simply going to have to back this up with a little more than just senseless commentary.

If you guys are dumb enough to believe Joe Rogan, then I guess you also believed that Paul Dillett was making 32 Million on his old endorsement deal too!
As for Triple H's deal with Barmensen, isn't it enough said that Barmensen welched on their deal with Levrone for HFR? They couldn't afford to pay Levrone, so now they're gonna do the same stunt with Triple H. Get his likeness out there on some commercials and ads, and then stop the checks in 4 months.
Even if we assume that Chuck is making a MILLION DOLLARS promoting a product designed to make you look like a beer-guzzling Monday Night Football fan, considering that he made less than $300,000 fighting in 2005, WHERE IS THE REMAINING 1.4 MILLION in ENDORSEMENTS?????
Let me guess, he's also getting a MILLION from COBB28 right?
You morons are so stupid and gullible, it's laughable.
If the Nevada State AC didn't release the purses for the UFC, Joe Rogan would be telling you that "Lidell is risking a $5,000,000 payday by taking on Jeremy Horn" and you dumb schmucks would believe him.

I will also agree that Chuck may appear as a beer-guzzling Monday Night Football fan, but please understand that Bodybuilders are not the target market for Zyience. They are targeting the true PERFORMANCE athlete. Tell me this....Ronnie may appear more fit than Chuck, but who is truly more physically fit??? You know I have never seen Chuck or any UFC fighter puffing on oxygen BETWEEN rounds. I can't say the same for Ronnie.....(I know you have seen the pic.)
Next time....Please reference your facts a little better. When you type the crap you do with nothing to show for sources....well.....it's really just crap.

PSHR,
Why you believe a piece that was spoonfed to a Boston Globe reporter is beyond comprehension. If you knew anything about PR and HYPE, you'd disregard EVERYTHING people say about how much money they make and ask for REAL REFERENCES.
But let's break down YOUR astute analysis: You admit that Chuck, in all likelihood, made less than $1,000,000 for his Xyience endorsement. Let's compromise between my estimate ($100,000) and something ridiculous ($900,000) and stipulate to $500,000. And we know from NSAC records that he made about $300,000 fighting. So that's $800,000. If you know anything about television, you'd know that reality shows don't pay crap, but let's give Lidell (and you) a huge benefit of the doubt and say he made another $200,000 from the show (which is completely absurd that Dana White would pay him more to host a show than to fight). Okay, so we have Lidell at ONE MILLION. That leaves 1.7 Million to be found somewhere....anywhere. Clothing line??? Yeah, everywhere I go I see the Cobb28 logo, especially on MTV all the time. Not. Or is it those Iceman shirts I see all the top stars wearing in their videos? There's no place left unless he has a secret endorsement with Budweiser to promote a beer gut for 1.7 Million.
While we're at it, let's look at the Xyience deal. Through the use of Chuck as a spokesperson, who is this company selling to?? Weightlifters and bodybuilders? No. Fitness buffs? No. People who want to lose weight? No. Teenagers watching the UFC shows? Maybe, but then you have to ask why teenagers would buy a product from Chuck...
Because to sell a product, you need benefits and results. Through Chuck's endorsement, what are the benefits and results of Xyience? That it makes you a black belt? No. That it can help you knock out a guy? No. That it gives you superhuman strength that only shows up in the Octagon? No. That it makes you look like Chuck Lidell? Definitely not (Let's face it, Joe Rogan has a better physique than Chuck). That it gives you endurance so you don't tire out after going THREE ROUNDS?? Maybe, but then why would your average pimply-faced sixteen year old spend his money on a product that improves endurance? It all makes no sense.
Finally, most boxers are in better shape and built better than most UFCers. A big boxing show does 2-3 timesmore in PPV buys than a big UFC show. And yet despite greater exposure, no boxer has gotten anything approaching six-figures for endorsing a supplement. I know, I know, Chuck Lidell is more marketable than Oscar de la Hoya because the shaved-head, goatee, beergut look better represents mainstream america.
The fact is that Dana White must be a stakeholder in Xyience because the UFC is 100% of the promotion for this product line. Kind of like Musclemag did for Muscletech in the early days.
Anyway, other than your Boston Globe Gospel, I still don't see anything that remotely supports your belief. Debate on brother.

-
Ed....
Like I said before.....we could debate all day with your opinions and that is all you are giving here. I can almost guarantee that Dana White would not make a bold statement in the boston globe, knowingthat it would be a shocking admission that a lot of people are going to be questioning. I am not going to debate with your opinions. Boxing for example is poplular.... show me some proof that no boxer has EVER been paid six figures in an endorsement deal. I find that one real hard to beleive. I also never said that Chuck was making $900,000 from Zyience...all I said was that it would not be hard to believe that he is making at least six figures form Zyeince.
As far as Zyience...Yes I am sure there are a lot of teenagers wathcing the UFC, but one thing is certain.....Zyeince is being wathced on TV by millions every week on Spike TV during the Ultimate Fighter Show as well as PPV. Have you even seen the ratings..(try Google) Far more than any exposure from any sort of bodybuilding avenue.
Either way MMA is a huge sport. We can at least agree that it is far more popular than bodybuilding. How can you even compare a supplement company that advertises through a cult sport like bodybuilding. Don't get me wrong I love bodybuilding....but not many people do! I feel you see that no supplement company can pay as much as Zyience does, but that's probrably because you have never seen a supplement company that has had the exposure that Zyience has had....How many supplement company's do you see that advertise regularly in front of millions on TV?
So instead of discrediting my sources...try an find some proof to back up your crap opinions. I could post sources all day and you would find ways to weasel out.
One thing we can agree on is that you can be sure that the UFC and Zuffa/Dana White are definitely more than a little involved financially in the Zyience company.
All I ask is for a little more fact from you....prove yourself;)
-
Well, at least we found something we can agree on...although I'm still in doubt about the veracity of Dana "Honest Abe" White's comments, that you purport to have been published in the Boston Globe, through a link on a MMA website.
As for your statement that Xyience can "afford to pay Chuck lots" because of their "incredible exposure", all you have done is concede that they are SPENDING a fortune on advertising and sponsorship of the UFC and on Chuck. Sure MMA has a bigger audience than hardcore bodybuilding, but definitely NOT a bigger audience than the fitness world in general. Call me crazy, but the number of people impressed enough by the look and physique and fighting ability of Chuck Lidell to go out and buy a product in no way compares to the number of people impressed enough by the look and physique of a Milos Sarcev or Gunter Schlierkamp to go out and buy a protein powder or fitness drink. So answer the big question: Absent stupidity, what would possibly motivate someone to buy Xyience supplements other than the fact that they see the name plastered on the UFC shows every three seconds??
I think you (and Xyience) vastly overestimate the appeal of MMA as anything other than a spectacle akin to a boxing match. The missing link, like boxing, is the results. No one believes that a supplement can make you tougher or a better fighter, so what does supplementation have to do with MMA? Bodybuilders are an obvious choice because people ASPIRE to LOOK BETTER. You know, a six pack and all that crap.
And again, I ask you to explain how Chuck's six-figure (according to you) supplement deal and his $300,000 fight purses, equal $2.7 Million. It's your quote, so YOU'RE THE ONE WHO HAS TO BACK IT UP. You don't need sources -- common sense will do. Just make it add up for us.

Ed, Ed, Ed......
We can debate for hours. I have yet to see any proof for any of your speculations.
I really don't care to debate over speculations. You make it sound as if I think Zyience is paying Chuck his $2.7.
Facts:
-I proved Chuck is making $2.7 million a year. Until you show me something that says otherwise...it is fact.
-Zyience obviously has money to invest into marketing=ability to pay Chuck well. This in no way says how profitable they are...but the money has to be coming in to pay the bills. Agreed?
-Milos Sarcev and Gunter Schlierkamp have great physiques, but don't tell me that they appeal to the normal fitness world. They are steroid freaks to the average Joe. This may be some opinion on my part....but the fact is they never appear in anything but Bodybuilding magazines. Have you seen either in a Men's Health or something similar? Please if you have post it.
Now Ed....Please understand that I have my opinions and you have yours.....
I have my facts documented here.......
You have your facts documented where?

Do you have Chucks W2 or something
I was wondering the same thing, do you have his W2. From a former pro athlete who had sponsors and a person who made his living from being in front of the camera and someone who kind of knows a little on how some of these things works, I find it hard to believe he (Chuck) makes as much as you are saying. This company Zyience is fairly knew isn't it. I don't know much about it except I se it sponsors the fighting. Is it a suppement company? If it is what knd of supps do they have. Outside of MMA and the people who follow no one knows who Chuck is. Now know this segment is getting larger all the time but it is still and probably will remain an obscure sport. Nothing like baseball, football, basketball, tennis etc. A million dollar contract is a very big deal no matter who you are.
And for a company to spend this kind of money off the bat in a relatively new and niche sport to sponsor an individual is very rare and risky. It appears to me to me they are a major sponsor of the fighting already. I am sure that cost some good money and that is truly where they are receiving their "bang for the buck," not sponsoring Chuck. I can bet you may more people know this company to sponsor the fighting than Chuck as an individual. I can promise you this that if they did sponsor for a million dollars they could have easily got him for a few hundred thousand a year and saved an awful lot of money and used it sponsoring something else.

I agree. I don't think that Chuck is making millions off of Xyience. I would guess a few hundred thousand. I personally think that Zuffa/UFC
own Xyience as well. The only people they sponsor are members of the UFC. The big issue we were debating was how much Chuck makes including his fights , various sponsors, appearances, training students, and the reality show.

PUSHER,
You're right, it's official. If someone says something to the media, it is a fact. Like when George Bush said Iraq had WMDs. That was reported in every newspaper. I guess it's still true. Or when Bill Clinton said he did not have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky. That was published in every paper as well. Or when Dana White (whose credibility is up there with the President of the United States) says that Chuck Lidell is making 2.7 Million. Or when Paul Dillett told everyone and magazines reported that he had a multi-million dollar endorsement deal. Or when Flex magazine reported that Flex Wheeler got jumped by ninjas. Or when Musclemag reported that Levrone's band signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. Or when the Boston Globe reported that Chuck Lidell is making 2.7 million. Or when Flex magazine printed how wonderful Kelly Ryan is as a person. Or when the New York Post printed that Titus may have been induced to kill because of roid rage despite the fact that he weighed 50 lbs less than his competitive weight and was obviously not on the sauce. Shall I go on or should we just agree that you are a moron and leave it at that?
